History

Established in 2011.

CLINIC Alternative Medicines was opened in November 2011 by Jennifer Nery, licensed Acupuncturist, as a multi-​disciplinary healing center right in the heart of downtown Northampton.

Like its namesake, Nery’s grandfather’s doctor’s office in rural Ohio, CLINIC aims to provide excellent, thoughtful, and personalized care and a space that feels warm, homey, and familiar.

Business Owner

Jennifer Nery is a licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese Medicine. She graduated from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in September 2009, with a special emphasis on Chinese medical research. Her treatments are informed by her study of various acupuncture modalities, Chinese herbal medicine, Shiatsu massage, and qi gong meditations and exercises, as well as Western medicine. She is a general practitioner with special emphasis on pain issues and emotional and psychological stress.

I travel to Northampton from SoCal because some of the best business in the world are centered there.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about CLINIC. I have been a client since it’s inception and was seeing Jen for weekly acupuncture for a year prior to that. Jen has been amazing in helping me feel more grounded and as much as I love the actual acupuncture, the time that she spends talking is just as important to me. Her warmth and compassion are outstanding. I have also had wonderful massages with both Marly and Alicia, experienced a variety of practitioners in a «CLINIC sampling party» with coworkers and generally feel as though I’m coming home whenever I climb the stairs, no matter what is going on in my life at the moment. In addition, Chinese herbs have been incredibly helpful to me and I can always trust the quality of any product I purchase from the «store». Finally, the space is so calming, peaceful, warm and beautiful. I have been in every space for one reason or another and they are all special in some way, including the waiting area, where one can always peruse the products, relax with a cup of tea or water and chat with anyone who is manning the desk or just sit peacefully in preparation. CLINIC is a perfect addition to our little city, there is nothing else like it! I am constantly recommending CLINIC and all of its practitioners to friends and acquaintances.

I’ve been seeing Jen Nery for acupuncture for almost 2 years off and on. It’s definitely worth the 45 minute commute for me. Jen’s shiatsu massage… ah…so refreshing and calming. When I need some serious muscle work, Marly gives an incredible, healing massage. Northampton is a great town and I would recommend Clinic Alternative to anyone.

I’m new to the area, but so happy that I found this place. While Jen Nery is clearly skilled and professional, she doesn’t make the appointment feel totally clinical. (That’s super important to me. Who wants an acupuncture appointment to feel like a drag?) She’s created a comfortable environment that supports holistic wellness. She’s rad.

I’ll be honest with you, Jen Nery is my sister. This doesn’t make it easier for me to give a positive review. It makes it harder for me to relax when she’s treating me. I still I got a Chinese medicine consultation and shiatsu massage.
I love the office and rooms. It’s very warm and relaxing and surprisingly quiet for being on the strip in Northampton. It was partly this peaceful environment and partly Jennifer’s gentle manner that had me totally calm and relaxed in minutes.
I had never had shiatsu before and I have to tell you. Try shiatsu some time in your life! It’s not just a normal massage feeling. It’s transformative. I felt it in my whole body. It wasn’t just about an isolated region she was manipulating at the moment, there was a greater purpose to every piece of the treatment.
After my Chinese medicine session, I took a nap. CLINIC offers naps! All in all it was a great experience. I love my sister, but I can tell you unbiasedly that she’s incredible at what she does and this is a great place that makes you feel like you’re improving your wellbeing the whole time.
