I felt that it took a while to get the attention of an employee. That was difficult and a little frustrating, because I want to make my purchase and go. I understand it may have been busy or someone called off. On the brighter side, once a gentleman came around, he answered all of my questions. He suggest some different ways to tackle my electrical issue. So, it was a good experience that he walked me over and basically gave me everything I needed.

My family has been going here for well over 20 years. It’s a well organized, clean store with excellent employees. They are all trained to greet you as I always get greeted by all the workers. However, when I do need someone, it has consistently been a problem for me to find someone in each respective department (unless it’s the paint department). When I finally find someone, they tell me they don’t work in that department but are kind of enough to call someone for me.
Besides that, the reason why I keep coming here is they have an excellent refund policy and take back items that I may have tried out but didn’t work. For that reason, I come back here because at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that I won’t be wasting my money if this specific piece/​part doesn’t work out.

I was in the store yesterday shopping for blinds for my living room. Sandy was helping us out and she was great! I normally don’t write reviews but I really hope that Sandy gets acknowledged for doing an excellent job. She very thoroughly explained different sizing, measurements, etc. and then cut 3 different blinds to perfect width. The blinds look great in my living room! Thank you, Sandy!!!

extremely unhappy about the service from this place today. I special order a door and was called to pick it up. The nice lady on the phone said to give them a call 30 mins before I come so the item would be ready so I would not have to wait. I went ahead and got a truck from a different location which I had to pay for to pick up the door. I called and called waited on the phone for over 45 mins!!! No one answered the phone. I had my wife called while I was on the phone and she was on hold for over 30 mins. How am I suppose to give you a call 30 mins before I get there if NO ONE will answer the phone. I called back and tried every department and the same thing. This place must only have 1 phone line and someone must have been on it talking to their mama or something. When I got there, I had to wait in line to talk to someone. When it was my turn and I asked was the phone broken, I did not get an answer. I told my wife I was gonna let them have it, but she stopped me and said that they are just doing their job. How are you expecting me to call you 30 mins in advanced when no one answers. Waited another 15 – 20 mins for my door. Everytime I go here and go to a department to talk to someone, no one is ever around. I always have to ask someone, Hey is anyone here? Then it takes them another 15 mins to find someone.

Went to Home Depot for several items as I am redoing my kitchen. One was Behr paint as I have always had good results with it. The paint spreads very good and has excellent coverage. I also went to look at under cabinet task lights & recessed can lighting.
I brought a sample swatch from a competitor. I used their paint once and the coverage sucked. I did 3 coats and you could still see the old color bleeding through. I did find a very good color that will go great with the glass tiles I will be using for the backsplash. The person working at the paint counter was very helpful with a good sense of humor. He looked for a specific paint and when he couldn’t find it he gave me $ 20 off on the one I bought. I brought in a color swatch of the paint (From an inferior competitors product) He made an exact match using the color sample that matches the backsplash counter top and cabinets

I am giving 5 stars because the manager, Drew, went above and beyond! I purchased two ceiling fans online, to pick up at this location. I went there to return other stuff, hopefully to pick up order that was being processed. As I was at service desk the order was cancelled — staff stated they did not have in stock (still showing 5 available at this store online) — fine. Can you have them brought here from another store… one girl says I don’t think so, but I can go to Evanston to pick it up… the other says it will cost me $ 59 (Ridiculous) as I am looking at site to order it says FREE SHIPPING the «other» girl says that’s online only. («one girl» was nice and helpful «other girl» snippy and rude) ok «one girl» can I please see a manager? Yes. I meet Drew… no problem I will get those here from another store and call you. Yay! Thank you. Drew not only had them picked up from another store… he had them delivered to my house, same day! There was another glitch with missing remote which Drew also handled perfectly. So I wanted to thank Drew from Home Depot — it is very rare to run across someone as professional and helpful as you were to me. Home Depot you got it right with this one. This already too long review had many other calls and twists but this is the condensed version. Ultimately Drew came through and I truly appreciate his help.

I hate this place. No one helped me. Workers would breeze past me and just ignore me. Plus this place holds dementors here. I can tell because I get a deathly chill when I approach the store. I also feel as though all the happiness and joy left in my life. Someone should really do something about those dementors.
The only reason why I haven’t used my patronus is because I am a muggle. And muggles can’t do magic.

I was so beyond impressed with this Home Depot. I can’t praise their team highly enough.
I went in last week with an odd request. I had a giant stump in my trunk that I wanted cut into rings so I could make them into tables. When I went to the tool rental station, Johnny asked me what I was doing. I told him and he offered to do it for me. I was so surprised and happy!
Johnny and Jeff took my stump and cut it into 5 pretty pieces of wood. They did such an amazing job and helped me more than they could possibly realize. I can’t wait to send them pictures of what I do with a nice thank you note.

No one seems to work in their respective department. Every time I step into a hardware store, I have questions about pretty much everything because I’m a new home owner.
My first experience with the Niles Home depot: I’ve wanted to replace my door locks and dead bolts. Before I purchased three door locks and dead bolts, I wanted to ask a home depot guy how I can have the same key for each lock. I had to walk up to the cashier and ask if someone can help me in the doorlock aisle. She went over the intercom and requested someone to assist me. I’ve waited for 30 minutes (naturally looking at other items in that aisle that struck my attention while waiting), twice there was an employee that walked past me whom said that they will grab someone to help me. In those 30 minutes, no one helped me. The store wasn’t busy either. That said, I dropped the items… walked out… and went to Menards down the street and ended up purchasing my locks and bolts there including other accessories.
My Second experience a few weeks later, I was at the Niles Home Depot searching for light fixtures. They had an exclusive brand that I wanted. The problem was the light fixtures were stocked away at the very top of the shelves, where they place over-​stock. I’ve waited for a good 20 minutes and no one was in the lighting department to help me. Once again, I left my shopping cart in the middle of the aisle and went next door to Menards.

Typical Home Depot location. I went in looking for a piece of wood, and it took me 3 employees to find someone in the lumber department to cut my piece for me, but service was friendly and relatively quick otherwise.

I really regret not remembering his person’s name because he gave the best experience I ever had at an Home Depot.
How many times have you looked for help and felt stranded? This is what I had come to expect from HD.
We were looking for fluorescent tube replacement for ceiling lights. We walk to where the wall was covered with all kinds of fluorescent lights and we’re just overwhelmed.
In comes this man who says, what are you looking for? These things. We give him the original we had brought from home. He says how many do you need? 4 and he pulls out a hand held scanning thingy. He tells us buying 2 sets of 2 will cost us $ 16 or we can buy a box of 10 for $ 30. He says, just trying to save you money. I’m stunned he’s doing this.
We leave with our box of 10 for $ 30 and I ask him is there a place to recycle this old bulb. He takes it from us and says, Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it. I was wowed.
I told him that this was the best experience at Home Depot and he said, Thank you. I used to work at restaurants and enjoy working with people. Some people take having a job for granted but I’m enjoy what I do and I’m grateful to be here.
Wow I wish i remembered his name. He was fantastic.

If you are looking for broken/​scratched up tile/​borders for your home, you have come to the right place. Was unable to buy what I wanted because their stock was jacked up. Their selection is very scarce, and a little pricy. So disappointed. Will not be coming here again

Finally able to check off another goal on my bucket list — a Home Depot hot dog.
After that, I did some shopping. Surprisingly surprised over the quite knowledgeable sales staff at the nursery. Checking out houseplants for my dad and possibly myself. We, he, needed something to liven up the place.
The prices were surprisingly surprising. I expected to pay much more and to have fewer choices. Not the case in this case. I will go back with more plants in my shop list.
This time I think I’ll go for the Italian beef — not on my bucket list.

Ever have one of those days that everything goes wrong? Well that was today for me, except Mohammed from customer service totally made my day!
After being a loyal customer to this Home Depot location because of buying a house in April nearby, I am very happy to be treated as a valued customer.
My Home Depot credit card bill was due yesterday and I totally forgot that yesterday was the 20^th and not today. Time totally got away from me. I have never been late in paying my bill. This is where Mohammed comes in: I approached the customer service counter and explained my situation and right away Mohammed said he would call the Home Depot credit card line for me and see if he could get the fee waived for me as a one time courtesy. I was absolutely thrilled that I will not be charged a late fee!
Lesson learned. Next time, I will make sure I’m on top of the due date. I’m just so happy to have been given exceptional service from my neighborhood Home Depot.

Wow. More concerned with their sales reporting system then doing the right thing for the customer.
The neighboring Home Depot sold us a door (we told them what we needed and they pulled it off the shelf, trusting they gave us the right thing– they’re the experts right?!) and when our contractors were installing they told us we had the wrong thing. Long story short– this Home Depot did not want to right the neighbors wrong because of their systems. They wanted the credit card to exchange it even though we had a receipt. I will never shop at the depot again. Horrible and rude customer service, especially by the girl cashier (who mumbled under her breath about me and by alijandro– the manager). Talk about disappointment.

I stopped at this Home Depot location to pick up some tape and boxes for moving. Foolishly, I hadn’t grabbed a cart. One of the greeters, Jonathan, saw me struggling to carry them, and went out into the cold to get a cart for me before I even asked. He was friendly, personable and helpful. Then, I had a positive experience with the cashier who rang me up, and the gentleman who was retrieving the carts from outside (on a snowy February evening.)
Sometimes it’s the little things that make the difference when it comes to customer service. I’ve noticed that employees at this store seem more polite and eager to help than other locations — that’s what keeps me coming back to this particular location, even though it’s out of my way.

I was trying to find a painting coverall and mask/​goggles. I found the employees very helpful from the greeter to the ones who worked in the paint section. They were attentive without being invasive which made the Home Depot trip much less intimidating. I was able to go in and out without having to waste time.

I visit Home Depots a lot because I do remodeling all around the suburbs. I needed some paint matched to an existing color and I took the chip into this Home Depot (after being told by the Benjamin Moore store 2 blocks away that it would take a couple of hours to mix the paint… and the store was empty!) Julie in Home Depot’s paint department took the chip, ran it through the computer, got my paint mixed and I was out of the store in LESS THAN 15 MINUTES. (I timed it) And the whole time I’m standing waiting for paint, the other worker is apologizing that it’s taking so long! Great customer service!

I have been frantic over the weekend trying to buy up every strand of starry night led lights to decorate my house. Unfortunately in order to do this, I had to go to 4 different home depots, and even though all of them had great customer service, this location in Niles was the best. Calvin, Janette and Lora at the customer service desk were a great help and helped me save some $$ which was great since I was buying a ton of lights.
I may never visit this store again since distance wise it’s not the best location for me to drive to, but if anyone else ever visits here, they are great!

Came in here to pick up a few items. Asked a sales rep about an item and he was walking us there and next thing you know another sales rep walked passed him and they said something and he went to help some other person out… huh? So, my friend and I just found it ourselves.
My cousin bought something and wanted to do an exchange and he stood in that return line for about 10 minutes while they helped these two ladies… talk about slow. So, my friend asked the guy at the key desk if he do the exchange and he said yes.
