During my allergy treatment at Dr. Sokol’s office, the unethical and unprofessional behavior of his employee named Glenda U. made for a terrible experience for me at his office.
The first time I got allergy shots on my back upper arms, Glenda U. injected the needle into my left arm so AGGRESSIVELY and INTENTIONALLY that it caused the very large awful black bruise. The bruise looked wide like two bruises close to each other. My husband mentioned it to me: «Look what they did to you». I was new at that time so I thought allergy shots could go into the vein. Glenda did not verify my name and date of birth. Two days later I took a video and could clearly see the very large black bruise on my left arm. The following week, she gave me the shots again and she did not ask me if there was a reaction from previous shots and did not verify my name and date of birth. About four weeks later, I asked Dr. Amin that if it is normal to have the very large bruise from the shots but she said: «no, it should not go into the vein». So Glenda must be trained that «allergy shots never go in the vein or muscle» but this employee did not comply doctor’s instructions! One time, Glenda gave me the shots, I asked her «is swelling okay?». She asked with an angry tone «DO YOU HAVE A PHOTO?» I said «yes, but you cannot see it clearly», then I took my phone to show her the photo but she waved her hand in dismiss while saying «No No» and she ignored my question. Another time, Glenda was complaining to her coworker about a female while I was waiting in front of her to get my shots. I did not see my date of birth on the chart, I reminded her, she said «GOOD QUESTION». Another occasion, when she was going to give me the shots, she did not ask me «Can you verify your name and date of birth?», she just put my allergy chart very close to my face and asked me «YEAH?». I noticed this employee «rarely» asked me to verify my name, date of birth, and any reaction from the previous shots. I am afraid Glenda would inject the «needle» into my vein aggressively again, so I ignored her inappropriate and downright unprofessional behavior.
Dr. Sokol should set the rules and standards of ethical conduct in his office so Glenda could not behave badly to patients as she did to me. Dr. Sokol could put patients at risk by hiring an incompetent, unethical and unprofessional employee like Glenda U.
Glenda is not a nurse. Dr. Sokol’s employees are not nurses, they are medical assistants, most of them were entry level when this doctor hired them, but Glenda may only had a High School Diploma because she does not have knowledge and skill to give allergy shots and skin tests to patients and she does not follow ethical standards for a medical assistant. I left a message for this doctor wanting to know her credentials and her full name. A week later, I received a letter from Dr. Sokol TERMINATING me WITHOUT EXPLANATION even though I was still on schedule to get allergy shots. I have never heard of any doctor terminating his patients because they asked for the credentials of his employees. If I wanted to know his credentials, I could see them on The Medical Board of California website. If I wanted to know Glenda’s credentials, then this doctor terminated me?. Perhaps he terminated me quickly because he had to CONCEAL Glenda’s credentials since she did not obtain a Medical Assistant Certificate at a Vocational school and she ONLY HAD A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA when Dr. Sokol hired Glenda to work for him. Or this doctor terminated me because I was not happy with Glenda U. mistreating me during my allergy treatment, so «Dr. Sokol allowed that unethical behavior to happen at his office!». I found out later Glenda U. did skin tests for me when she worked at his office for ten (10) months without previous experience in this medical field and she ONLY HAD A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, but on my skin test result, Glenda initialed at Nurse’s initial space. Dr. Sokol misleads patients and he’s NEGLIGENT on verifying Glenda’s «REAL» credentials, her «Background» when he hired her and he’s negligent on supervising her work performance; therefore, «she is not afraid» to have inappropriate and unethical actions toward patients as she did to me, especially Glenda is closely affiliated to people who use «bad language» in public, and she is INCOMPETENT on her medical services.
Until today, I am still concerned «what Glenda’s motive was» when she caused very large awful black bruise on my left arm intentionally and what her «REAL» Credentials were to be allowed to give allergy shots and skin tests to patients. I am watching my health because of this. This doctor does not care about providing QUALITY OF CARE to his patients since they have to invest TOO MUCH TIME and MONEY for their treatment at his office. Dr. Sokol may have experience in his profession; but Professionalism, Integrity and Ethical Standards are missing in providing medical care to his patients.

This office and Dr. Sokol, are very unorganized and do not give you their undivided attention when you need it most. While I was having my appointment with Dr. Sokol, he left the room 4 (four) times to answer PHONE calls. When he was kind enough to call me at home once, he put me on hold 2 times to catch other phone calls! The nurse came back on and asked who I was holding for.
I sometimes had difficulty with the office staff as well.
They can’t do anything without asking Dr. Sokol first. I hate to be so negative about an office, but my treatment by them was very poor at best. I have several other Drs. who are caring, prompt, and focused.

Dr. Sokol & Dr. Amin have nice bed-​side manner. However, treatment billing (accounting), front office (scheduling, insurance collection, status), the on-​time record of the office (0% on time appointment keeping) just sucks the marrow out of the good «in the treatment room» scores, and brings the overall experience down to a 2 of 5. For an actual office visit, expect to spend minimum 2 hours. For a «shot» visit on a recurring shot regiment, you looking at 1 ½ hours per visit, unless you hit one of the occasional lulls, in which case, perhaps 1 hour. My 2^nd worst medical billing experience ever was with this office. Gave them my new ID card, but they kept billing the old company, who denied the claims (not their year of coverage). Then the office went after me with a weird «pay or else» billing. The first bill was a «90 days» late bill, entirely their fault. Paid it. 2^nd bill, was a 10 days or collections on items they themselves had cross out on the first bill– like the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing, again entirely their fault. May have damaged my credit. The entire vibe of the office is just 100% completely unprofessional. The senior front desk person is just unhappy and surly, always. One can conclude that the office can only reflect the priorities of Dr. Sokol– while hitting whatever profit goals he has. Nothing wrong with profit, but this doctor DOES NOT VALUE THE TIME of his patients (not at the office, not at the front desk, not on the appointment book, not on holding a schedule, not in proper and efficient billing, not in training staff during non-​appointment times, NOT AT ALL.) So if you can tolerate the dichotomy of a good in-​treatment room experience, a so-​so shot-​room experience, and a totally ALWFUL everything else, go for it.

I really like Dr. Sokol, but the office staff is terrible.
Dr. Sokol is a gentle, sweet, kind, patient doctor and genuinely care about his patients. He’s also very experienced and considerate. 5 star doctor. I had limited interactions with Dr. Amin but she does seem very knowledgeable and experienced as well. However, his office staff really makes it a bad experience. First, they are not nice, and they continue to ask me the same question over and over again about my insurance. They are disorganized and have trouble with my chart. If the appointment is anytime after 11am, expect to wait an hour before you are seen.
Oh, there’s also no trashy magazines in the waiting room! Definitely a no no in my books.

Love both doctors, but the staff are difficult, the new office is poem and you listen to them chat away while you want, and wait. Been coming for years but am getting tired of the delays to get service.

Dr. Sokol and Dr. Amin are both great. Their staff is very friendly and the general vibe of the office is fantastic. I’ve been going there for 5 years now and am extremely glad that I ended up at their office during all of my issues.
Their new insurance person is great too. She really knows what she is doing and is prompt with answering questions and taking care of issues.
I’ve rarely had issues with getting in and out in a timely manner. If you go at lunch time it can be a problem (I’d suggest any time but this), but any other time it takes about 5 minutes to get the shot and then a 30 minute wait so that they can make sure you don’t go into shock. I think we can all understand the 30 minute wait time for this purpose.
My only complaints, is slightly later and earlier «shot» hours one day a week would be great for people with more standard work hours. Also they do rotate nurses far too often. One finally gets good at giving shots that don’t hurt and a new one comes in and its back to hurting for 6 months or so till they get relax and fluid enough to give them painlessly.

Dr Amin is great and the nurses are nice enough but office is run poorly. Expect lots of waiting and inconvenient office hours. If you are a working professional, it’s impossible to get shots and get in & out in less than an hour.

if you have been suffering from allergies for years and are sick of feeling drugged up from using all the big pharma crap, do yourself a favor and see Dr. Sokol. he’s an amazing doc (I can totally see why he has won several «Best Doctor» awards) — very knowledgeable, thorough, and kind. the other staff are fantastic, too. i can’t recommend this place enough!
it took me years to finally see an allergist, and i’m so happy (and lucky) that i found this doc (through Unilocal,of course)!

Most awesome allergist ever. SO SO SO SO awesome, I cannot begin to describe his awesome-​ness. As the last poster commented, I can actually smell and breathe thanks to Dr. Sokol.
