Newport Beach Marriott Bayview

I recently hosted a Bridal Shower at this venue. I went to a lot of different venues within Newport Beach to find the perfect place for this event. I decided to go with the Bayview Marriott for many reasons. The event manager Tracy Tsang went beyond for the event. She handled everything from start to finish flawlessly and was prompt in returning all of my emails immediately. There are many choices to have an event in Newport Beach and I wanted my event to be perfect so of course I was very nervous but I have to give them 5 stars. Because when I showed up to set up the décor at the venue everything was ready and clean and was perfectly set up. We went in and decorated with plenty of time thanks to Tracy. We had discussed my theme and she even added a lot of extra items to go with my theme. I realized was in excellent hands and could actually just relax and enjoy the event like a guest. It was flawless and everyone had the best time. The Bride could not of been more thrilled. Thank you so much!

For sure a great spot overlooking the back bay. It features a really nice patio area you can sit out on and watch the sun set over the water. Only downside is you are right by a busy street, Jamboree, so get quite a bit of road noise. Overall the employees were courteous and helpful. My biggest complaint, and we have stayed here twice, is they are way past their bed rotation cycle and in untypical Marriott fashion the beds are not firm and supportive and sag, at least in the two different rooms we stayed in. I normally have trouble sleeping in new settings and this just accentuated that problem. Outside of this, the rooms are fairly spacious and pretty well laid out. Overall, a decent experience, minus the beds.

The employees here are awesome. If you need anything they always provide service with a smile. You have to remember it’s a business oriented hotel, but as far as customer service they nailed it! My room is clean and comfortable and the pillows and bed were very comfortable especially for a hotel. Also the food is delicious and the chefs, and food staff are super accommodating. Thank you to everyone for providing such amazing service. Definitely recommend the employees and the hotel.

Excellent customer service! Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and helpful. «Even» at the front desk was very accommodating and gave a great first impression! We only stayed for one night but it was a great experience. It’s a smaller property but our suite was nice and comfortable. The breakfast buffet served delicious food and staff there excellent as well! All hotels should strive to provided the kind of service we received here!

So, first off we stayed on a Sunday night and they upgraded us to a «bay view» room and waived the $ 20 upgrade fee. Cool! But, then we were told that the only parking on site was $ 25 per night… not cool… apparently they think this is Hawaii? The room itself was nice and comfy, view was great. It was so relaxing sleeping with peace and quiet until the fire engine trucks raced down Jamboree blaring their sirens in the middle of the night… twice…not cool. Overall, our stay was average.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights. Here’s a synopsis of what took place:
First night: Checked into room, having declared two adults and two teens. We received two washcloths and three towels. We found one spare pillow and blanket in the closet. So we had to call down to the front for additional linens of all types. The sheer curtain in the bedroom was torn. The bedroom has glass panels for privacy but NOT for light, so the people in the «living room» have to go to bed at the same time as the people in the bedroom because you can see any and all light. Got up in the morning and used the toilet to discover the seat soaking wet, mysteriously. A few minutes later, we hear the toilet «burp» and spray water up onto the lid and seat, accompanied by a horrendous smell. We went to the front desk to describe all of this, and they offered to move us to a new room, which we accepted. We then went to the «complimentary breakfast», which is included for two but we were told we would have to pay $ 9 per for the other two. We stood in line for our food for nearly twenty minutes as there was a big marriage convention at the hotel and the kitchen was completely understaffed for such an event. We finally got to the table and the food was simply not impressive. The eggs and potatoes that were pre-​prepared were cold. We asked for a hot tea to go and it was forgotten. Then we were presented with a $ 96 bill for breakfast ($ 24×4 people). We had to argue it with the staff.
We went to our new room to find, yet again, a torn sheer curtain, this time on the balcony slider. Housekeeping brought additional linens for us that were requested at the time of complaint. They sent up one sheet to hang over the French doors into the bedroom to try to block out the light, so we had to request an additional one. It did virtually nothing to block out the light, however. We did attempt to use the pool/​hot-​tub on the last night but found only a single towel by the pool area, so we decided to skip it and go sit by one of the pretty fire-​pits behind the dining area. The main fire pit wasn’t functional.
Something that occurred both nights was a complete lack of water pressure in the sink AND shower. The water also vacillated between hot and cold frequently, causing us to have to adjust the temperature almost constantly as other guests in their rooms ran water or flushed toilets.
Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing stay. The hotel was very pretty, offering lemon and cucumber water in the lobby as you enter, with very nice ambiance. Our rooms were also clean, and the staff was pleasant enough minus the girl who seemed completely unconcerned when I voiced the fact that I was disappointed with the stay at check-​out. But those are truly the only good things I can say about this hotel. This hotel has a $ 550.00 per night double-​occupancy rack rate. Even though Newport Beach is an affluent area, that rate is outrageous for what you get from this hotel.

Stayed here with my husband for a quick getaway. The hotel is clean, modern, and in a good location. They have a Starbucks located by the bar on the first floor and a nice lounge. Outside they have small fire pits which I believe can be used when you are dining at the lounge.
I booked the 1 Bedroom King Suite that came with a view, balcony, and sofa. It was a really big room that could accommodate 4+ people. The balcony was small; but still nice to have for a breath of fresh air!
If I need to stay in the area, I would definitely book this hotel again.

Ordered room service and then they call us back telling us that they forgot about our food, thanks a lot for screwing everything up and making us eat crappy Domino’s Pizza.

Great location if you’re in SoCal to explore. Easy access to 405 and close to PCH.
Got a decent rate as well considering the really exorbitant prices of the resort — type hotels.
On the down side, not much is within walking distance, but this is Cali, you drive everywhere any way.
Room is nice and spacious, clean, quiet. Good shower and we got a nice view of the bay.
If you’re here to do sight seeing, this is a good option. If you want a resort setting and walk to the beach, look elsewhere and prepare to pay triple. (Seriously)

Quite a nice place with modern well laid out comfortable rooms. The food was good and the staff generally friendly.
The one small issue we saw while eating out on the terrace was a group of 3 people bringing in a bag from whole foods and wanting to eat it by the pool were kind of scolded by the staff.
And if it had been really crowded by the pool I could perhaps see the point of saying no. However it was devoid of people. Bottom line I get that the hotel wants to sell their stuff at the hotel but telling those guests that they couldn’t allow that because of health concerns, i.e. the food not having come from the hotel, just made the hotel seem like they were scrambling for every last dollar. This could have been handled much better … One should not scold the guests.
Especially in front of other guests.

I was very impressed with the very welcoming service from the clerks to the bartender. I had a bay view suite which had a nice balcony and lovely view of both the bay and swimming pool. The bed was comfortable. The fitness center was a little hard to find, but the staff walked me to it and I found it clean and very well-​equipped. The pool looked good for lap swimming, which I will likely utilize my next time down. The patio was very lovely and busy well into the night.

We had a wonderful but fast stay I wish we could of stayed longer however! the rooms were clean and beautiful :) sitting out by the firepit at night having drinks and appetizers was the perfect chill night the staff was super nice from the moment we checked in till we left and everything in between. I hope to be back soon ;) thank you for our mini getaway

Had the worst stay at any hotel I’ve ever stayed at in 25 years at this location. The management is nonexistent, the desk staff is unpleasant, working is $ 25 and there is no valet outrageous !! I wonder if the staff makes money off the people staying here –there is some sort of scam going on. Read the reviews something is not right!
I had horrible food poisoning from the room service and management could care less no one has contacted me per my complaint and it is now a month later –that’s beyond unacceptable customer service not to mention hotel standards! Do Not stay here.
The Entire management team should be fired! The pool is too loud. They said it was heated it is not. They had music turned up so high on the Jacuzzi you couldn’t communicate with each other. The rooms are very noisy. The bed is also very hard. And sheets are scratchy. The rooms were attractive other than that there’s nothing positive about this stay. I made a formal complaint with the Marriott and still have heard nothing! I will reconsider the Marriott in the future due to such poor customer service!!! Very disappointing!

OK Marriott, good location, friendly staff. A few caveats:
$ 300+ a night hotel needs to change (premium)
— no free wifi, (Marriott rewards members get free basic access with a $ 4 up charge for high speed, should all be free for the price you pay)
— bottled water costs $ 5 a pop (stop at a convenience store and buy a case of water for $ 4 save yourself a lot of money)
— Mirrors in our room had full hand prints on them (kinda gross)
— The sliding doors in the all suite hotel sound like nails on a chalkboard (seriously warn someone before you try and slide the door open or closed)
— Coffee machine in room had nasty caked on disgustingness, get coffee somewhere else
If I did stay here again I would make sure they gave me a very clean room with a well oiled sliding door and made a stop at a store to buy some water before I checked in.

Really nice hotel, room was clean and spacious.
The staff was all very helpful and pleasant!
The parking is $ 25 a day. However I found that if you show your room key to the front desk it’s comped.
I was helped by «Sean» he as so funny and helpful and gave me and my group awesome customer service!
I will definitely come back and I recommend this hotel to anyone!

All the rooms are giant suites. Quite luxurious. 5 minute walk from two large buildings that house a lot of businesses. I left my retainer in the room and they found it /​held it for me to pick up the next day. Thank you!

Newport Beach Marriott Bayview is a beautiful property. It’s an odd drive to the location, but once you arrive, you would enjoy the place very much.
Lindsi the front desk that checked us in was wonderful. She made us feel special and welcome. She even sent us the Sundae, my niece loved it!
We got the suite with the Bay View and the pool which was perfect. The suite was quiet for our stay.
The pool half indoor and half outdoor was genius. It was raining the day we arrived, so we were still able to swimming and playing in the indoor pool side. they also have a small Jacuzzi and a decent gym fully equipped.
We enjoyed our stay and definitely looking forward to return soon.

I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend for a local getaway and was very happy with our choice to stay here. The hotel was close to Fashion Island, Costa Mesa, and CDM/​Laguna Beach, which made it very easy and quick to get around.
The rooms were a good size due to the sitting area and we had a pretty view of the bay. The bay also had a nice walking/​running/​biking path around it, which made for a convenient and scenic area to exercise.
Service was great — front desk, housekeeping, and the downstairs restaurant. I don’t know why so many people complained about this hotel! You can’t walk to places from the hotel but when do people walk in California anyway?

As a lifetime Marriott Rewards Platinum member, I have a lot of experience with this brand. Rarely have a I left a Marriott property and said to myself — «that just sucked». Well… That just sucked!
Spent two days here on a business trip and this hotel met NONE of the basic needs that a hotel ought to provide a traveler.
First, the hotel is undergoing a major renovation. This in and of itself is not a big deal — renovations need to happen every now and then. But in this instance, the hotel somehow managed to completely close down both the lobby and valet area. In fact, you have to walk in through the service entrance to check-​in. Walk through the middle of the make-​shift buffet to get to a service area. Take the service elevator to the second floor where you have to lug your bags another 100 yards or so to the main guest elevator. I don’t get it. I lived in Boston during the Big-​Dig. They built an entire highway underneath the I-​93 artery without shutting down the highway. Just how do you plan so poorly?
To add insult to injury … the construction was not communicated to me when I made the reservation and they somehow saw fit to charge the full rate for the room stay despite the fact that the majority of the hotel services were either not available or severely disrupted.
Construction aside… the hotel room had no hot water — as in ice cold shower in the morning. On a particularly cold, rainy OC day, this was a big problem. As I needed to be clean for my business meetings, I simply clenched the butt cheeks and made do but it was not the way I expected to start the day. When I asked to change rooms, the hotel staff ensured me that they would have engineering address the issue and that there was no need to move. Fine. Day 2? More clenching.
Newport Beach is a nice part of town. And this particular part of OC just adjacent to John Wayne airport has a wealth of hotels including other Marriott properties. This place really doesn’t know how to run a hospitality business and will no longer see dollars from me. Suggest you carefully consider options before electing to stay here.
