Cozy environment — has that old school, charming feel. Came here with a few friends for dessert and ordered the almond NY Cheesecake, Pistachio tulip and Tiramisu. The NY Cheesecake was delicious, a little too savory for me, but definitely made with lots of love (and butter). The tiramisu was very good, but definitely had that stronger liquor taste. The Pistachio tulip was a great mousse and amazing idea to have in an edible chocolate tulip shaped ‘container’. The atmosphere was cute and the dessert was good — nothing too amazing. The prices were fine but I do not think I would come back because even though the sweets were good, they were nothing to spectacular. Would give a 3.5÷5

This is without a doubt the best pastry shop in the city. I have been eating these cannoli for as long as I can remember, and EVERY TIME the shell is perfectly crisp and the creamy filling is absolutely delightful. Grabbing pastries to-​go is a breeze, but make sure to dine-​in sometime so that you can enjoy your cannoli or lobster tail (my second favorite item!) with a delicious espresso.

I STILL think this is THE place to buy fresh italian pastries at a reasonable price. The
sit down area turns out to be quite acceptable, they make very good coffee drinks
and the small cakes we tried were superior. I went back to get more items
for dessert, to go along with Russo’s pasta, purchased from next door and
was not disappointed. My only complaint is the ACOUSTICS: people who
wait on you are behind a large display case and I could hardly hear the
answers to my questions… Yes, i have hearing problems, but… SPEAK
up folks! Some of the help is very friendly. I’ve been going for years and
cannot speak highly enough about it.

I think I shoved down two cannolis while on my way out of here. They smell delicious and they taste just like that. My friend ordered a couple sfogliatelle, it was my first time trying it.
This place is classic and so is their presentation. The people behind the counter are great at what they do. They tell you the process of Venieros. They tell you how they make the treats, what is in them, and talk with a confidence.

Nice pastries, but if you consider artisans, it could be better to create a creamy green leave, instead this natural strawberry leaves mixed with cream.
Beside this detail, the other pastries are yummy.

I was never a fan of this place even as a child to now. Then what led me to try it again? My friends and I were down the block after dinner and came here to grab dessert. I have to say, I wasn’t impressed. I didn’t like any of the 6 desserts that we ordered. I asked all 5 of my friends and we all had thr same feeling. There are way better bakeries out there.
The lines can be long and out door at times.

Never ever a let down whenever I come to Veniero’s for a good ol’ slice of cake. Veniero’s is a throwback pastry shop that serves the Italian pastries of everyone’s dreams. You want cookies, they got it. You want gelato, they got it. You want pastries, they got it. You want cake, oh they definitely have plenty of that!
When you walk in, you’re greeted by the row of cookies, pastries and cakes that make your sugar levels jump out of your arteries. Yes, sweet dreams do come true and you’ll find EVERY Italian pastry you’ve ever imagined at the very tip of your wallet. To the left of the display area, is the seating area. The seating area is not huge, but it fits a manageable amount of people. During weekend late nights, the long waits have made me wish a plenty that the seating area was much bigger. On weekdays, day or night (except Friday), the pastry shop is pretty quiet and there is never a wait to race to a table and satisfy your dessert craving.
If you’re here for a warm beverage to go with your dessert or a pastry, then you will have to read thru the long menu of goodies. If you’re here just for a delicious piece of dessert, then skip the regular menu and go straight to the menu of pastries with pictures. You’ll definitely save yourself some strain on the eyes. I can’t speak for the pastries, but the cakes … DELICIOUS! Baked to perfection and fulfilling every sweet bone in my body. I don’t categorize myself as a sweets person, but every time I come here I question the validity of that self portrait. I’ve had a chance to try the following cakes and it’s a great challenge figuring which one I love more than the other:
STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE — Fluffy, moist and one of the best Strawberry Shortcakes around.
CHOCOLATE BANANA STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE
RED VELVET CAKE — Not overly sweet like other bakeries.
CARROT CAKE — I’ve never been a fan of carrot cake, until now! Light, fluffy and really balanced well.
CHEESECAKE WITH MOUSSE CAKE — The mousse can be a bit overwhelming, but dig yourself some cheesecake with every bite of mousse and you’ll love it.
You might think a slice of cake is pricey here at greater than $ 5, but when you see the slice you’ll know why. The slices are HUGEEE and after your fork canoodles with a piece of it and it goes into your mouth your doubts will vanish into the night.

You have probably thumbed through Viniero’s Pasticeria listed in almost every New York travel destination book under the «good local eats» tab of your guide book. When nostalgia calls you for Italian sweets, and Brooklyn is a little bit out of the Manhattan reach, Viniero’s will do the trick. Just over 120 years old and nestled on 11^th St in East Village, Vinero’s is a must visit, and a tourist attraction for a reason.
Viniero’s is a taste of nostalgia for me, furnishing authentic Venetian cheesecakes, rainbow cookies, sfogliatella, Sicilian cannoli, and amongst many other sweets. These are things I remember from the little pastry shops of Venezia or Roma, and I long for them quite often.

For an authentic Italian taste, I suggest the S I C I L L I A N R I C O T T A C H E E S E C A K E with candied fruits. It is a two layered torte cheesecake, thick, rich, and creamy with ricotta texture and delicious candied fruit inside.
If you simply do not know what to order, you cannot ever go wrong with Sicilian cannoli; make sure to get one with candied fruit and little chocolates, they are the best! Tastes similar to ones at pasticeria in Venezia — could you really say no?

Amazing place for anyone searching for a late night dessert. So many eye-​catching, mouth-​watering options. My first of many visits for sure. I was in awe and ordered two sweet treats: cannoli-​chocolate covered (Cannoli shell dipped in fine dark chocolate and filled with vanilla or chocolate Cannoli cream) $ 4.50 and pistachio chocolate covered tulip cup (filled with pistachio cream in layers of vanilla sponge & chocolate syrup and inside a dark chocolate cup) $ 5.75. I have never had a Cannoli before so it was pretty ok aside from the sticky fingers from the chocolate since I took so long to eat it all. The tulip was an edible work of art. Great, friendly staff. Very popular spot on a Saturday, but the wait time is 10 minutes or less and worth every minute.

This place has good products very similar to those you’d find in an authentic Italian bakery on Brooklyn or Staten Island. They offer many varieties of cookies, cakes, Sfogliatella, Napoleon m, biscotti, etc. Customers can pull a ticket and get stuff to go or they have a café with table service on the other side.
If you want to bring a «nice» dessert to someone’s house who’s cooking you dinner, bring something from here. It’s not cheap and they will enjoy it. But the waits for to go, especially on weekends are lengthy, like 20 – 30 mins. And it’s soooo expensive for what it is. They’re pastries are worth it, but I like the cakes and cookies I bake myself better.

Crazytown perfectly describes this place on a Saturday night. There was a mess of a line at the entrance and it was unclear that there are two lines: one for take out and one for dine in. Luckily, the friends I was with knew this.
We wanted to dine in and the line moved slow at first even though there were several empty tables available. I got the sense that the staff was overwhelmed by the crowds (though I bet it’s not unusual to see these kinds of crowds there). The whole process of ordering and getting our desserts and getting the cheque was rather slow, but we didn’t mind it at all. We enjoyed the slow pace because we were in no hurry. Plus, even though Veniero’s was busy, the vibe and décor of the place I liked — somehow they managed to pull that off — thumbs up for ambiance.
As for the desserts, I got the banana strawberry shortcake. They really aren’t messing around with cake slices here. The slice of cake that I and the three other people at my table got were HUGE. Dare I say, a little too much cake? I think it was. The sponge cake of my banana strawberry shortcake was airy, light and not too sweet, as was the whipped cream. As for the fruits within the cake themselves, I was definitely not a fan of. They didn’t seem integrated into the cake, nor did they melt in my mouth like the rest of the cake did. Maybe part of the reason was the lack of ripeness of the fruits. Something about it didn’t mesh well.
Regardless, I’d probably come back. It’s a good place to hang out and enjoy yourself at a slow pace… even with the crowds.

It’s my 600^th review! And I’m glad that Veniero’s is the one to nab that title.
I can’t believe I never knew about this place. Back in my heyday, I hung out in the East Village all the time. Then again, at the hours I was out, you’d have been more likely to find me at a bar than at a pastry shop. But had I known about Veniero’s, I would have visited sooner and a lot more often — though I’m not sure my wallet or my waistline would really appreciate that.
I randomly found this place one day on Unilocal when my boyfriend and I were in the area and he wanted rainbow cookies. A quick search gave me Veniero’s and with 1400+ reviews, it was a done deal.
Once you walk inside, you grab a number. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes. At least that’s how long we waited on a Saturday afternoon at around 4. This wait time is very dangerous. Dangerous because it gives you ample time to eye the sweets a few times over. And each time you walk past, you’ll be adding another item on your list of things to order. And let me warn you — they add up. You order a few things here and there and before you know it, you’re spending $ 40 on a few pastries. But definitely worth it for a once in a while splurge.
We ordered the tiramisu, New York style cheesecake, a few cannolis, a cream puff, marzipan, and rainbow cookies. The rainbow cookies were a tad dry. They weren’t the best but my boyfriend, who’s been here on a few occasions tells me that they normally are good. The tiramisu was alright. Maybe it was too much cocoa powder on top. Everything else was great. Nothing tasted too heavy or too sweet.
I really liked the atmosphere because it looks old-​timey. It reminded me of the pasticcerias in Italy. If you don’t want to order to go, you can walk straight to the back and wait to be seated. Not a bad idea because I’m sure they have great coffee/​espresso to pair with whatever you decide to order. I’ve stopped hanging out in the East Village too much but thanks to this place, I may start again!

On par with how remarkably long this place has been in business, is how remarkable every piece of their pounds and pounds of Italian pastries tastes. The quality they maintain despite the vast product they produce is inspiring.
Tried the Cheesecake, Cannoli, Cream Puff, and a Bombolone and all were good and fresh.
Makes me sort of embarrassed for many of my hometown bakeries. May you last forever.

Veniero’s is one of those NYC tourist spots that is actually worth it!
When you walk in here you get hit with the smell of delicious pastries and you see the entire pastry window with what ever your heart desires.
They are known for their Cannoli’s which I think are the best in NYC so I go for them every time I go here. My favorite is the regular Cannoli but they do have a few variations.
This place is also a great date spot as there is a side area where you can order pastries and coffee.
If you are ever in the east village and need a treat Veniero’s pastries can’t be beat!

Beneath the glowing neon sign proudly displaying their opening year (1894!), this bakery is about as old-​school Italian as they get. You don’t come here for warm, fuzzy service (it’s so hectic, they’re all business). You don’t come because of its convenient location (it’s a fair walk from, well, everywhere). You come for two things: cannoli and cheesecake. The cannoli come in regular and mini sizes, plain or chocolate-​dipped (how they get that shell so magically crisp, I’ll never know). The authentic New York Cheesecake is fluffy, tangy, and melts in your mouth. Don’t balk at its lack of crust, or risk looking like an uneducated amateur. The best part? They’re open seven days a week, until midnight Sun-​Thurs, and 1am Fri-​Sat. Your late-​night Netflix binging will never be the same.

There’s so many options to choose from, it’s almost overwhelming. hubby & I hared a strawberry napoleon, a baba au rhum and the chocolate hazelnut mini tarte. Everything was absolutely delicious, specially the strawberry napoleon!

Wow. This place is still here! It’s a large place with ample seating making it a great spot to catch up with friends as you’re not pressured/​rushed to finish your dessert and leave to make room for waiting patrons. This was my go-​to spot back when I was in college to catch up on life when everyone was back home for breaks. I came back recently for nostalgia’s sake and delighted to find everything exactly the same.
If you’re ordering to go then you take a ticket in the front and browse the extensive selection in their glass display until your number is called.
Their dark chocolate + milk chocolate mousse cake is one of my favorites. The fruit tart is also great if you’re not a chocolate fan. The menu is extensive and only seems to have increased since years ago. They now have a laminated menu with all photos of a dozen or so of their popular desserts so that visual orderers, like me, can see what everything looks like without having to run up to the cake display prior to ordering. (I still couldn’t help myself from doing so.) I ordered the rainbow cake but was disappointed to find that while it had all the color of a typical rainbow cookie, it lacked the flavor and was bland. The affogato (vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso) was good and something I would order again. The same issue I had years ago still exists today: their extensive array of cakes sit in the display case all day after being cut without a plastic piece against it. Thus, if you’re unlucky enough to choose a cake that has been sitting there for a while it can be a bit dry on one side from air exposure.

I’ve finally visited to see what the hype was about, and as a girl from Throggs Neck via Arthur Avenue, this is no way compares to the Italian goodies i’ve grown up with. My review is based on the few items we’ve tried — The cannoli and their cookies were good — but nothing special. we didnt like the carrot cake slice. Got the visit out of my system, but no thanks on a return.
However, the staff was very nice and their «assembly» line ran smoothly.
Their cakes look good, but i’m not sure i’d trek it back from Brooklyn.

A true gem located on 11^th and First Avenue. In business over 100 years and they still maintain their quality standards and neighborhood vibe.
A word of advice — if you are ordering for a holiday — PRE ORDER. The thanksgiving and Christmas lines went around the block because this bakery is incredible. From gelatto to cheesecake (both Sicilian and New York), home made cookies, cakes, pies — just about anything you can think of.
This is an amazing location and no matter where I live in NYC, I will be coming back with friends and with out of town guests to show them what a true gem looks like!

The kind of place that gives you tremendous hope for the survival of the mom and pop shop in every-​changing NYC. This place has been at it in the East Village since the late 1800s, and it’s always heartening to walk in on a Saturday night and see hoards of people! Take a number and just take it all it while you wait to be served at the counter. There’s plenty of ambiance to soak up, and you’ll need the time just to decide what you want to choose from them copious and colorful offerings. I’ve yet to have anything that wasn’t delicious, but the Bavarian Chocolate Cream Tart w/​Raspberries is a particular standout. The prices are amazing, too. The mini pastries run $ 15 for a pound — so you can end up walking out with a pleasing assortment of these featherweight treats for under $ 5.
Surprisingly, I’ve only ever done takeout, but their dine-​in café is utterly charming and on my «to-​do» list. This is a must-​visit when you have guests in town, or for taking treats when visiting anyone!

My family and I have been obsessed with Veniero’s for over a decade. Cannolis, cakes, cookies, you name it… Its all insanely delicious.
My family’s all time favorite dessert is the Fruit Supreme Cake. Its a sponge cake, with light delicious cream, and covered with fruits/​slivered almonds. Its absolutely amazingly delicious and its not very sweet which is a plus. It has the perfect balance of sweetness and freshness from the fruits.
The Fruit Supreme cake is such a big hit in my family that for my cousin’s sweet sixteen (12 years ago) and my sweet sixteen (7 years ago) we both had a 4 tiered Fruit Supreme Cake! It was awesome; everyone in attendance of both parties raved about the cake!

I remember the first time I went to Veniero’s about half a decade ago for my birthday. It was like a Willy Wonka dream. This place is a paradise for the sweet-​addict. It’s been around for 121 years! It was established in 1894.
In all the times I have been there, never has there not been a line. Best to grab menu’s while you’re waiting to be seated and make your selection. Also good to go with a group of friends so each of you can order something different and try a bite of it all. The portions are huge. Don’t mess the spiked drinks either.
I’m a New Yorker and I keep returning to Veniero’s. So if you’re a tourist, look no further — this is hands down one of the best dessert places to visit.

OMG if a 122 year old NYC institution doesn’t wet your whistle, nothing will. This place was established in 1894 and it’s one of the few remaining old school Italian bakeries left. I think they are great and the prices of their items aren’t too bad. I really love the décor, it looks and feels it’s age, but in a good way. The décor is so Old World that I kinda get giddy when I see it, it’s such a dying part of history and it’s such a great reminder of how cafes used to be.
The food:
Cheesecake NY Style with Fresh Strawberries– This was excellent, this was our favorite dessert of the night. I thought all the cheesecakes we had were great, the texture was super smooth, the filling was not too sweet, not too heavy and the flavors were spot on. You could almost taste the tradition. I highly recommend this.

New York Style Oreo Cheesecake– I thought this was my second favorite, I really like their New York style cheesecakes, they really are light and fluffy. So freakin good.
Chocolate Volcano A la Mode– Warm moist semi sweet chocolate cake surrounding a melted truffle, drizzled with chocolate syrup with vanilla ice cream. I thought this was similar to a molten chocolate cake but without the gooey chocolate center, I thought this was good but a tad sweet for me. The vanilla ice cream was a nice addition.
Tiramisu Pastry with Alcohol Sponge soaked in espresso and tia maria liqueur, with marscapone cheese. This was a fail, this was a universal no from everyone at the table. The cake was super dry and had no flavor, it kinda felt like it was sitting in the frig for the better part of a decade.

Tried most of their pastries. I’d say I like 60% of those pastries and didn’t like the rest because they are either too sweet or I simply didn’t like the taste or texture.
Recommend their Italian cheesecake (without fruits) and tiramisu (the smaller one). Chocolate cakes are good, too.

Exceptional bakery with a long record of consistency, with producing some of the best cannolis the world has ever seen. They have other baked goods, as well, but the cannolis are what I think of when I think Veniero’s (the rainbow cookies are of note, as well). There’s a reason it’s commonly packed for to-​go orders; it’s that good. The crowds do serve as a bit of a deterrent, but it all depends when you stop by.
Will make it a point to try their espresso and have a seat inside one of these days. Again, it depends on how packed it is.

Moving to the Midwest, you appreciate certain things only NY can provide: pizza, cannoli or anything that should be made by cranky old Italians.
Veniero’s ships to the Midwest with next day delivery. It is a true miracle. Shipping next day air with dry ice is expensive but well worth it to have a tiny piece of home.
The filling isn’t overly sweet and it is well blended. It has a great texture and you can fill your shell yourself. They always get your order right and so far I have not had any issues with multiple orders.
If you’re not in NYC and have a craving– highly recommend.

Walk in. Take a ticket. Take a quick glimpse and have anxiety on being unready to order while waiting for your number to be called. I tried some of their cakes before, and they are usually too sweet for me. So I went with the dark chocolate cake for my pops birthday. The person who helped me didn’t mind writing in Chinese and took a good ten minutes copying the Chinese characters off my phone. He said, «I’m happy to do it.»
The dark chocolate cake was also sweet but much better level of sweetness compared to the other cakes. Cheese cake will be the next try.

Pretty often when I told people where I moved in the East Village the response was «Oh you’re right by Veniero’s! Lucky!» …And then I was told I was crazy for not knowing about Veniero’s.
Finally my grandma took me and gave me a little history of the place. It’s a very typical, old, traditional, beautiful Italian bakery. The smells of cannolis and biscottis and cheesecakes filled the air, along with the heaps of customers patiently waiting for their goodies.
When you walk in, the first thing to do is take a number. The service is pretty slow, but they are serving everything to you fresh so that makes up for it. The slow service allows you more time to browse the cases and cake fridges for the perfect dessert.
I am a chocolate person, so I tend to stick to the classic cannoli with chocolate filling. It’s the perfect amount of sweetness and flavor balance between the icing and the cookie. The mini cheesecakes are also really flavorful and creamy, and the perfect size for one person (or two, if they’re willing to share ;)).
I’m surprised I don’t come here more often considering I live so close. But I’m definitely going to make it more of a go-​to spot, and hey, maybe I’ll try something new!

Although the desserts are delicious, I was pretty disappointed by the slow service that we encountered on Tuesday evening. To begin, the host took 10 minutes to seat my party of 7 because he was too busy catering to other customers in the store, which I understand but that also means that they are pretty understaffed at around 9PM in the evenings. The tables are also arranged in extremely close proximity to each other, so table felt really crowded with the other diners. Once we were seated, we also had to physically wave down our server each time — to place our order, to get the check, and to get a to-​go box for our leftover cake. It seemed like they just completely forgot about us after seating us down.
However, regardless of the service, I have to admit that the cake was delicious and was brought out really quickly after placing the order. I assume that they were able to just fill our order from the cakes displayed in the front of the store (which really do make your mouth water as soon as you walk inside).
I also like that this place is open rather late — it’s the perfect stop to make after a light dinner or for a late night catch-​up session with friends.

Good desserts! They do have a small sit down area in the back. They have a vast amount of pastries and cakes to try. We didn’t get to try all but what we had was pretty good. My rating is more of a 3.5 stars. We had a chocolate chocolate cream cannoli, pineapple tart, ricotta cheesecake and strawberry shortcake.
The chocolate chocolate creamed cannoli was a little too much chocolate and I should have gotten a regular creamed cannoli but still good. The pineapple tart was small but just the right amount of sweetness. The ricotta cheesecake was moist and dense, just how I like it but it was too much ricotta taste. Maybe, I am not used to it. I like the regular flavored cheesecake but that is my preference. The strawberry shortcake was very good and moist. It was just the right amount of sweetness.
Good customer service as he offered to try some before buying. That made me buy four treats!

Veniero’s, is one of my favorite Italian pastry shops in Manhattan. It’s located on 11^th street between 1^st and 2^nd Avenue in the East Village. It was established in 1894 and is still going strong 121 years later. The décor, antique by today’s standards, sits in it’s original form. From the pastry counter that encases these deserts to the tiled marble flooring, wood panelled walls, rustic tables and chairs and stained glass sky light. Even the scent of the baked goods that hits you upon entrance is addictive with its sweet aroma.
Veniero’s staff is very pleasant and I’ve yet to experience any problems with hospitality. The lines can get a bit long for orders to go. Just grab a ticket which will hold your place in line and wait for your number to be called so you can place your order.
If you’re looking to sit and have a coffee with pastry, just go straight to the back and a hostess will seat you. They have two decent sized rooms that will accommodate individual seating to large parties.
Veniero’s has a very large menu. Prices range from $ 3.00 to $ 6.00 for an individual piece of pastry, slice of regular cake or their famous cheese cakes. Whole cakes depending on the size and type range from $ 24.00 to $ 48.00. Cookies are sold individually or $ 15.50 per pound. They also offer regular coffee, espresso and different types of cappuccino, from hot to cold. Prices range from $ 2.25 to $ 9.45.
They do serve cordials, such as: Sambucca, Amaretto, and different types of brandy for sipping. They come in nip glasses not sifter. Price $ 6.00.

As someone who’s indecisive, one look at their menu and I knew I was in trouble lol
They have so many choices and everything sounded delicious. The décor was nice and reminded me of Italy especially with their gelato display.
I eventually went with the chocolate volcano cake and a teamonade. The chocolate volcano cake was similar to molten lava cake. The melted chocolate on the inside was gooey, rich, and thick. It’s served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Chocolate + vanilla = it doesn’t get any better than that.
I thought the teamonade was an interesting concept. It’s iced tea with 2 scoops of lemon Italian ice. I found it to be very refreshing and delicious.
It can get a little pricey and I’m definitely sure it’s loaded with calories, but its nice to splurge once and a while.

I love the vibe of this bakery. It seemed like most people in there were regulars ordering their favorites, with the addition of tourists like me standing around and looking at all of the options! It was filled with people at 11pm and everyone was looking over the endless number of desserts. In the back they have seats so you can enjoy the desserts right after you order them!
We waited in a line to be seated, but it went by quickly! We took a look at the menus they passed out but were set on trying the Lobster Tail and the cannolis, but of course they were sold out of the Lobster Tails at 11pm! On the recommendation of our waiter, we chose 2 mini cannolis, the Mille Fuille (because it has similar cream to the Lobster Tail), and the Tiramisu!
The Mille Fuille was pretty great and the cream in it was delicious, but it felt so heavy. The cannolis were also good. I wasn’t a big fan of the Tiramisu because I felt like it had too much rum or whatever was in it.
I would love to come back and try some of their other stuff, but based on my first visit I can only bust out 3 stars for Veniero’s.
