The Reed Space

this is probably my favourite store in new york city. the store has a wide range of cool stuff. clothes, bags, sneakers, music etc. and trust me the shirts are piff. also some of the best employees in clothing stores in whole new york city. they are nice, approaching and down-​to-​earth. not like them gangstas from flight club. prices are fair and location is good.

stumbled across the reed space last summer and always come back every time I’m out in new york. killer selection of all kinds of brands that aren’t very well known. you’ll be sure to find something fresh. they sell everything from clothes, magazines, music, shoes, fragrances, pins, candles and books. the staff are always super helpful too. be sure to roll through when you’re in town.

There are 2 stores one is the clearance side.
The clothes is expensive but unique and cool.
The staff seems high all the time.

The customer service here is excellent and how it should be done. Props to Jeff Staple, everything this man does is well executed and legit.
I came in to pick up an order and I was instantly greeted and helped by not one, but two people. Within seconds. Fantastic! They seemed genuinely pleased to help me out and didn’t act pushy at all. I checked out a few magazines before grabbing my online order and they have a great selection that you may not be able to find elsewhere.
They obviously have the dopest sneaker selection available and some cool apparel too. Check them out for sure if you haven’t already.

Some very unique items. They do collaborations with different labels. Great hip hop brands and sneakers. Their wooden sunglass frames are beautiful.

Their location is deep, I would love to visit this place on the daily but I can’t due to it’s location because I never pass by. I visited the store for the first time since I wanted to purchase something. The service was eh, I wasn’t greeted when I walked in, but whatever it’s okay. No worker asked if I need to be assisted, I had to walk up to this worker being the counter and ask.
However, the place is very nice with the nike artwork on the wall, the changing room, etc.

The absence of snobby streetwear staff is a virtue. They were friendly at Reed Space, which is how I decide on whether or not I’m going to drop my hard-​earned money. Hope I have the same experience when I come back. Overall, good people, good shop. Just wish they had a bigger selection of women’s sneakers.

Came upon Reed Space when I was walking around with friends. This place have a lot of fashionable wear such as jackets, shoes, caps, t-​shirts, bags, and sweaters. Make sure to bring extra cash with you cause its a little over price. They do have sales from time to time so keep your eyes and ears open. Reed Space staff are very friendly and helpful. Once in awhile Reed Space will have special events like music from random artists, art exhibit, and even book signing just to name a few. They do have a outlet store right next to it which offer 50%.off everything. Make sure you check out the outlet store first If you want to save some extra cash.

The Reed Space finally did contact me about a return– Apparently their email system wasn’t working properly. I’m not sure how much I believe that considering that my request for a return was also written in my second purchase, and that request was on the packing slip of the second item I bought, but we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and bump them up a star for even making an attempt to allow the return.
That said, I can’t say I’m likely to give them my business again anyway.

Nice store with mediocre service. Really nice collection of apparel, books, and accessories. I spent about 40 minutes in the store though without anyone asking if I needed help. Employees were either working on displays and taking pictures of them or watching TV. At least four people were working during my visit. The only time I was spoken to was when I tried to pay using the ten percent off with a Unilocal check in, this is when the cashier told me it couldn’t be combined with the promotion of 25% off a purchase of 75 dollars or more (i wasn’t aware of the promotion anyway). Even when I needed help getting a key chain the sales associate just tapped on the display case at the one I was asking for then walked by me to get the item from behind the register.

Went here with some friends and my buddy found some cool shoes and bought a t-​shirt. With my Unilocal check-​in, they even gave another 10% off. The staff is friendly, the vibe is good overall, and they have a wide selection of shoes, clothes, books, and other stuff.

Met John Mayer here after my girlfriend caught wind that he was doing an autograph signing in SOHO. She’s obsessed and I’m a fan of John Mayer the person so I figured LESDOIT.
The Reed Space had closed half of its store for the event, so I didn’t get to check out a whole lot of it, but the sliver they had open for John Mayer had a streamlined hip vibe.
The employees of Reed Space were extremely friendly and immensely helpful despite the hundreds of people shuffling through; they even had a guy whose job was to open the wrapping of the John Mayer CD for the customers who bought it.
They organized the event supremely. Yes people were waiting on line for close to 5 hours, but the way they allowed people in (very small groups at a time) made it so that you could look around, buy merch, and then wait on a tiny line to actually meet John Mayer.
Thanks to The Reed Space for hosting John Mayer and doing a kickass job! Will return soon for the full store!

Ah — Reed Space (a.k.a. ‘Staple Design’) — you’re so infamous. Who else can say they released a sneaker so hot and limited that it caused a riot to break out? You simultaneously killed sneakerhead culture with hype and brought it to the forefront.
I’m still undecided if Jeff Staple is a hack or genius. As far as I can tell, the man just puts pigeons on clothing — and they are somehow cool.
This place is impossibly cool — filled up with clothing, bags, books, magazines, music, toys and houseware for the streetwear fanatic. For the most part, the staff is friendly as hell too.
The normal Reed Space area is expensive as fuck — but I want to still own everything in the store.
But, what really makes this place amazing is the Reed Annex (attached storefront facing Orchard St). This is where all the overstock and out-​of-​season gear goes. And they could probably chop a few bucks off and it’ll still sell. But — the discounts are steep. I’m talking about $ 5 fitteds and $ 10 sweaters. CHEAP! And the best part — the place is deserted. None of the usual pains of discount shopping (think most people assume everything is expensive with the boutique storefront).
Adventurous random passerbys would wander in… take a look at the stuff… check the price… look at the gear… turn to the cashier, «Hey — this jacket is only $ 15?!?» They don’t know shit about Jeff Staple, but they recognize a bargain when they see one.
For satisfying my finicky tastes and pleasing my inherent cheapness, 5 stars to Reed Space.

I consider this one of the best men’s clothing stores in New York. If you care about brand names and finding the piece that Jake Gyleenhall was wearing in the last US Weekly, this is not the place for you. If you find Ed Hardy to be aesthetically pleasing, don’t come near this place. If you like cool streetwear brands that care about both style and function, this store will be your heaven. Their blog is entitled «Mecca» on my bookmarks tab. Yeah, it’s that good.
Most streetwear stores in the city have staffs that think they don’t belong there. The staff at Reed Space, however, has the friendliest staff I’ve seen west of The Brooklyn Circus. The clothing comes from brands like Head Porter Plus and Staple, two brands that are hard to come by. I am a man who loves bags, and this place is always introducing me to new bag companies like Herschel and Lexdray. The amount of money I’ve spent on bags at this place is absurd.
Come here. Enjoy the clothing, accessories, and staff.

The boyfriend is a fan of Jeff Staple so we shop here once in a while. I find the place to be empty and expensive. The workers are not too happy to be there or maybe just indifferent cause they’re «cool»? I don’t know. But I did but a pigeon shirt I liked a few years back. Still looks good.

Coming from San Francisco streetwear scene I wanted to hit up all the boutiques I could around New York. Reed Space was probably one of my favorites.
Their selection was awesome from Staple to even Benny Gold now.
The staff was sooooo much better then any other boutique’s like Supreme and the Hundreds. Most boutique staff think their special cause of the «exclusiveness» of the company. At Reed Space they smile and even say hi and ask if you need help.
I can’t really complain about prices because that’s what’s expected from these companies. They sell out all the time so why would they drop the prices and I still buy it even when my jaw drops on the price tag. Also the value of everything is a lot more as everything is limited quantity and usually out for one season then
It’s gone for ever.

The buyers do a great job of keeping things fresh, introducing new labels and reinforcing the classic labels. Fans of streetwear, skateboarding, punk, hip-​hop, rock, city-​life.
