Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles II

We have not been able to find beef noodle soup this good outside of China. It was awesome! We also had the beef cucumber appetizer and the bok choy. The only downside is they don’t serve alcohol. Tiny place, only a few tables. Try it! You won’t be sorry.

Been here a couple times now, first time around was when they first opened and I thought it was just OK, second time, definitely tasted better. Got the pork chop with fried noodle and it was flavorful and filling. Although the price is high, you do get a pretty big portion. If they offered half the portion at half the price, I’d probably do that with an app. It can be too much noodle for one person to consume (food coma at work). Best scenario would be to go splitsy with someone and order noodles and dumplings. In any case, would definitely return as it’s difficult finding a decent spot that serves more traditional Chinese food. Only downside is when I went they ran outta hand pulled noodle (this was during weekday lunch)! They had to give us a knife peeled instead. They did apologize and give us a couple drinks as an apology. So aside from the wait due to running outta noodles, it’s definitely a good place for lunch.

On a mission to find the best beef noodle soup in NYC, I ordered the beef stew noodle soup for lunch today. It was pretty good. At first glance, the beef stew noodle bowl had few chunks of meat but when I got to the bottom of the bowl, there were a lot more so I was pretty content with my lunch. Didn’t see any spicy noodle options on the menu which was disappointing (I must have missed it if there ARE spicy options) but there is hot chili oil and sriracha sauce on the tables. I doused my noodles with a hefty spoonfull of oil and hot sauce throughout my meal.
Utensils, cups, napkins, and water are self serve which I like because I never have to wait for the waitress to refill my water. There is a $ 15 credit card minimum, and I would suggest not to come here with large parties of more than 4, it’ll be super cramped and difficult to find a seat for the entire party.

I would give a 0 if that’s an option. I ordered delivery because I was really hungry. The food tastes okay but I ended up with stomachache and threw up big time!

This is a hole in the wall hand pulled noodle shop in Hell’s Kitchen that is so small you might not even get a table. When we arrived, it kind of smelled like BO in there, but we realized soon after it was a few of the patrons. Not appetizing, but luckily they left before our food came.
It’s definitely no frills as they will give you cheap stuff to eat off of, but you know what? If it’s good food, it doesn’t even matter. The cucumber salad was pretty good as an appetizer and then we got a typical Chinese beef stew. I thought the noodles were nice, but the soup was average. My girlfriend (who’s from China) and I have had better elsewhere. Not a bad option, and cheap.

Had lunch take out from here. The noodle soups are a standard $ 10.60 after tax. Like many other Unilocalers say, it’s not the Chinatown prices you would expect. I visit the original Tasty Hand Pulled Noodle location on Doyers from time to time, and while that location is definitely cheaper, it’s nice to have this second location in Hell’s Kitchen for a quick noodle fix during the workweek.
Definitely a cleaner spot than the Chinatown location, and the noodles are just as good. Don’t let the $ 10 price deter you, you will get plenty of food for your money!
Give it a try. My go-​to soup is Roast Pork with #2 (fat hand pulled) noodles. Sometimes I’ll get the knife peeled, which are just as good.
I will say though, the roast pork at the Chinatown location is better than here. But again, this is probably the closest you will get to a legit noodle joint next to Times Square.

Definitely one of the more tasty beef noodle soups I’ve had in New York! I loved the deeply flavored chunks of braised beef brisket and the very savory broth. In fact, it was so savory that I had trouble drinking it all after I finished the noodles. I’ve tried both the standard thin hand pulled noodles and knife cut noodles, both of which have a very nice chewy texture. I’d highly recommend eating this on rainy day!

We got delivery, ramen and cucumber salad. The salad was small & expensive, and basically a cucumber broken up. The ramen soups tasted like canned beef stock boiled with star anise. A sad and greasy fried egg lay crushed on top when I opened the house special ramen, which also contained about two leaves of spinach, grisly chicken, flavorless grey strips of of what might have been short rib and over cooked shrimp.
We ordered one soup with the noodles in, and one with noodles on the side, but both with disappointingly overcooked to the point of mush.
Skip it.

The noodles were fine; quite al dente in fact. But had they put more effort in the broth, that would’ve elevated the dish. We had ordered the pork dumpling with noodles, and the dumplings were alright. I guess they’re location on 9^th is convenient. The food just doesn’t inspire much more for me to write.

Came here with a group of 6 on a freezing cold night for a nice hot bowl of noodles. Two of us arrived early and staff was nice enough to serve us tea while our friends were filtering in.
The prices aren’t as friendly compared to chinatown, but it’s understandable given the location in Hell’s kitchen. We shared 2 plates of dumplings and an order of pickled cucumbers.
The oxtail noodle soup was okay – there wasn’t really any oxtail in it. The broth just appeared to be cooked in the bone marrow, or at least I hope that’s how it was cooked. The standard beef noodle soup and dumplings were good!
Pro tip: If you come here for 2 people, you could still get full sharing a bowl and a plate of dumplings. They give you so much noodles. *slurp*
Pro tip #2: Get the #2 thickness noodles.

AWFUL service and greasy food. I ordered Chinese bok choy, among other things, and they gave me steamed Napa cabbage (AKA CHINESE cabbage) and told me it was bok choy. I know the difference between cabbage and bok choy. I told the two women at the counter that I ordered bok choy and they pointed at the cabbage and told me that was bok choy! OMG, really!!!

While the prices aren’t what you’d see in Chinatown, was pleasantly surprised at the flavor of the noodle soup dishes here. I ordered the pork dumpling noodle soup and loved it. The dumplings were wonderfully flavored and packed with a meat filling, soaking the beef broth of the soup. The noodles also had a great homemade flavor that added immensely to the dish. I ordered the normal size and was stuffed to the brim. Would expect to pay around $ 11 including tax and tip!

For the price, you get a great bang for your buck in this little gem in Hell’s Kitchen. The portions are huuuuuge so make sure to have built up and appetite.
Food? So their «noodle soup» options are a lot like phở. I couldn’t figure out what Asian cuisine this was but I’m leaning towards Vietnamese. I was a little disappointed with the lack of chicken in the chicken noodle soup. Lots of noodle. Lots of soup. Almost zero chicken.
Prices? Awesome. For $ 9, you’ll leave full and satisfied.
Ambience? It’s okey. Not really much going on but ya pay for what ya get.
Will I return? Probably. But only if I’m in the area. I vote for obao across the street.

Service was quick, though not the friendliest. We ordered takeaway and requested 2 of the hot oils, and the cashier only gave us 1…
Per the Unilocal reviews, we tried the beef stew with knife peeled noodles, which was delicious! The broth itself was great.
They serve the noodles separately so they stay firm, which I appreciate.
The spring rolls were the only disappointment… $ 5.95 for 4 little rolls that didn’t taste homemade. Not too surprised since they don’t specialize in them, but still sad!
Would return for a nice soup on a cold day :)

NEW MIDTOWN LOCATION A BLOCK AWAY FROM MY APARTMENT, WHAT?
I was so glad to hear about this opening right next to my apartment… This place is quite small, three six person seating (very close to each other) and three two person table.
Service: v quick, it’s a small place so they’re pretty attentive. They use Styrofoam cups for water, which i felt iffy about (bad for your health, environment, all around), but whatever… Upside is that they take credit cards and there’s no minimum. (… Spoke too soon. They implemented a credit card minimum of $ 15 :/​)
Food: Got the beef stew noodles with knife peeled. It was really good. hot beef broth and chewy noodles. I did think the meat/​veggie portion was a bit small compared to the Chinatown location. The meat was half actual meat and half tendon/​omosa-​ish stuff.
I’m excited to try other things on the menu here, even if I’m paying $ 4~5 more for the location/​cleanness. I hope they maintain their hygeine status.

Machines made skin for the dumpling but inside is house made.
They have bigger pieces of veggies in the dumplings than my noodles…
I ordered the chicken stir fried noodles (the one you shred with knife). Noodle was done too thin so when they cooked it, it’s soggy and has no chewy texture.
The veggies were cut very fine … and the chicken piece are extremely small also.
That was 11.95 for a small dish of stir fried crap.
I paid a little under 20 for 2 items … seriously, will never go back again.

They need to come down on the price cus their stuff ain’t worth it except for ppl with money and got no where else to spend.

So Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles part deux has made it’s way all the up from Chinatown to Hell’s Kitchen. They do the noodle thing and they do it well.
The place pretty much defines hole in the wall. If I took a sledge hammer to a brick wall, I would probably have come up with the same result. There are 3 tables of 2 and 3 tables of 6, but plenty of good eats to go around.
It’s a simple place with a simple recipe for the menu:
1. Pick your soup/​dish
2. Pick your noodles
I got the stir fry duck with knife cut noodles. The flavor was solid and not too satly and after digging through the mounds of noodles I actually found some duck. What a nice surprise, duck in my duck stir fry, happy day.
The beef noodle soup was a better dish. The broth was solid, the vegetables crisp and the noodles were of course tasty. Again the issue is the lack of protein.
Either way you’ll come away with a full belly and maybe next time you’ll come back for more. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. As Arnold would say, I’ll be back.

It has finally happened — Chinatown in Hell’s Kitchen! I finally don’t have to travel 40 minutes to get my authentic, Chinese beef noodle soup fix.
I got takeout from here (not delivery — so cannot speak to that) and was pretty happy with the results. We got the fish ball+pork wonton and beef stew noodle soup. The beef stew had a much heartier broth, so that was the clear winner. Noodles were provided in a separate container to prevent noodle sogginess. They gave a bunch of veggies (mainly bok choy) but there definitely could’ve been more beef. But for the flavor and quantity/​quality of noodles, I was very very satisfied.
Prices are probably ~$ 3 – 4 more than their Chinatown location but for some, this is well worth the inconvenience of the subway ride. Plus, the space here is nicer and you don’t have to get pushed around by old Chinese grandmas while stepping in sewage water trying to find Doyer St.
Just FYI, my mom (authentic Chinese tiger mom) also gave a thumbs up for this place. The flavor of the broth and the texture of the noodles are both on point. For the most optimal noodle eating experience, make sure to dine in as the noodles tend to stick together when separated from the soup.
For Hell’s Kitchen, prices are very VERY reasonable and this is a GREAT find. Highly recommended for a quick and casual meal.

New location for Tasty Hand-​Pulled Noodles (from Chinatown)!
Food: It’s the same exact food, but prices are higher than the Chinatown location. They charge a Hell’s Kitchen premium. For example, the Doyers location is $ 5 for the beef noodle soup, but it’s $ 9.75 here.
My favorites are the beef noodle soup, steamed dumplings, and homemade potato salad.
Space: the store isn’t that large. They have three 2 person tables and three 6 person tables. The larger tables become shared tables.
They deliver and have take out.

Just like the one in Chinatown, only a bit more modern and cleaner feeling with higher prices to match. At least you don’t have to spend roundtrip subway fare to get there, right?
I’m glad these Chinese businesses are getting the courage to pop up inside of non Chinese hoods. As the success of Xian’s famous foods has shown, foodies are craving authentic real food instead of the typical American Chinese food.
We had the knife peeled noodles, cucumber salad, stir fry bok choy, and everything was tasty.
