My food was good, service SUCKED!!! I waited a while for anyone to actually come over. And no one came by throughout my meal to ask how everything was etc… I ordered the pernil with a twist which was good, but too expensive I felt. And she charged me extra for the sweet plantains even though it’s part of the sandwich. I didn’t leave a tip since service was nonexistent.

There’s a large menu selection and all of it leads to a ridiculously satisfying food coma. The portions are generous, the food tastes great, the service is quick and the prices are reasonable. I went for the beef stew with rice and fried plantains and will definitely be back to try other items on the menu

Great local spot for when you’re craving large portions of heart warming spanish food. The prices are okay ~ average meals go from 10 – 15 dollars but their portions are very generous. I went with the pernil(pulled pork), rice with beans, yuca fries & sweet plantains and i hadn’t felt an itis that bad in so long.(In a good way).

Sophie’s makes reliable cuban comfort food, and dishes it up off the hot table quickly. Pretty much anything is awesome if you add green sauce, but I am partial to the garlic shrimp, the salmon, and the platanos.

I happened to be walking by fulton street and noticed Sophies cuban food sign. Prices seem reasonable and so did the portions. I walked in, got on the take out line due to no seating and i picked up lunch. I had stewed turkey, white rice with black beans and plantano frito. The rice was very tasty and the black beans were well seasoned but what got me was that the turkey was so tender, had a lot of gravy and it melt in your mouth. The fried plantains were an added bonus and i sat at a park nearby to have lunch. It was delicious and well worth $ 11 for the size and portion of food that i had. Will definitely come back and eat here again. I just wished they had more seating but due to size of restaurant seating is limited. Make sure to ask for the spicy green sauce, it rocks!

Simple, clean and yum. A little bit expensive, but overall really good. I ordered the delivery twice. It came so fast, no more than 15 minutes!

3.5 stars. Pricey for the quality and fast casual vibe that I got. Service is extremely fast and efficient. Then again, it’s hard not to be when it’s basically a cafeteria style buffet line. I got a plate with some seafood and sweet plantains. Everything tasted aite but nothing stood out. An important note though: the seafood was EXTREMELY salty. Those trying to avoid hypertension should probably avoid this option.

Okay or A-Okay in Unilocal. Ordered a cuban w/plantains and a side order of plantains via Seamless. The Cuban was gross because the plantains were super soft and soggy. I could not get over the texture. The side order of plantains was delicious and the famed green sauce was so so good. In full disclosure, I discarded the Cuban and ate the small does of green sauce by itself.

I am very happy Sophies Cuban restaurant came back in the area. I came here for lunch sometimes since I work in the financial district area. I like their bake chicken, yellow rice and beans — very delicious and also their Cuban sandwich. The restaurant is clean from the tables, bathroom and their service is good.

Fast food cuban. Workers are nice. They like to pile on the rice but hold back on the green sauce. No matter what rice you select, none of them have any taste. The fried plantains are decent but you only get 4 pieces. The empanadas are practically empty. And, well, the meat selection… I’ll leave that to the meat lovers. I could do without… any of it. I’d rather go to another spot that’s more authentic.

It is really hit or miss here. One day I really enjoyed chicken cutlet with rice and beans, it was fantastic, chicken was juicy all the way through. Another day, the rice was lacking, the steak was fairly seasoned but the cut of beef was terrible. My desire for latin food in the city, though overpriced, is satisfying but I beliebe they can take it up a bit. I will be trying this again soon, now following the daiky specials and trying it this way. Sophies, you’re my only hope here.

I’m only reviewing their guava and cheese empanadas. Omg! It’s to die for. I don’t know how they do it, but the guava and cheese are perfectly pureed. It’s amazing! Always warm and perfectly crispy shell. I could eat these all day. Took 2 for on the road when we left the city.

I owe this restaurant a review cause i keep on ordering from them. The Latin lover in me can’t get enough of this restaurant. When i’m sad a nice delicious Cubano will do the trick. When i’m happy a baked chicken with Yuca and sweet plantains and a side of Stuff baked potato. Ugh the fat ass in me is so real!!! When you order from them the food comes less in 30mins… which i love!!! they are not to far from my job so if i want to hang out with friends for lunch i can. They seat you right away you can order and eat everything on your plate in less an hour. Can’t really complain about anything in this restaurant the staff are nice and the food is delicious. I just love them!

The service left a lot to be desired. I asked for the daily special but was only given a brusque«no more». I ended up with the stewed chicken which was ok but was mostly yellow rice. More chicken and less rice would have been more acceptable given the price. I took it to go and I went. Never to return.

Really authentic Cuban cuisine. Well… feels authentic. I’ve never actually been to Cuba. Or eaten the cuisine before. But this is delicious!

I love Sophie’s but this is the worst location. I order from various Sophie’s locations on a regular basis and love the food but this place cooks it slightly different. One of my favorite dishes is the shrimp in garlic sauce but this place uses baby shrimp. Once I walked in and stood at the counter as staff passed and ignored me. When I finally got someone’s attention to ask for a menu to take with me, the girl was interrupted by another staff member and they started laughing and talking about something else to where I just walked out. Yesterday, I called for delivery and the girl who answered the phone put me on hold after taking my order and then mumbled something and hung up. The food arrived within 10 minutes and luckily I had cash on me because I wanted to pay with card.

Since I live in California, I very rarely have a chance to eat Cuban food, so I jumped at the chance to try Sophie’s when I happened to be near Wall St. I came in on a Thursday shortly before the lunch rush and opted for table service. The restaurant is very clean and seems pretty new, and the bathroom was clean too. It seems that the Cuban Sandwich is by far the most popular item, but I noticed that they had a special pork chop in red sauce as the Thursday special, so I ordered it with a side of yellow rice and fried green plantains. The waitress informed me that the portion size was very large, and it was. The plate came with 2 big pork chops over a giant heap of rice(which was colored red, despite being called yellow rice) and a few slices of fried green plantains. The red sauce was delicious, although the pork chops were a bit on the dry and tough side. The rice was absolutely delicious. If I were to visit again, I’d probably want to try the Cuban Sandwich, although I was pretty happy(and very full) with my meal. The service was very friendly too.

Was very happy to see Sophies open up in the space that was home to Lisas Pizza for so many years. Was sad and confused when they left their spot further up Fulton but I guess this was in the works all along. The new spot looks similar to Sophies other outposts. It features table service which is a nice bonus and the staff couldnt be nicer people. With the bright colors and Latin music playing I thought for a moment I was in Miami… until I walked outside and saw the snow still on the ground. I ordered the classic Cuban sandwich and made quick work of it. The roast pork was terrific with a nice crunchy char, not at all fatty, the ham was lean, pickle crunchy, swiss cheese tangy and bread buttery and crispy. What more can you ask for? Ok how bout a squirt(or two) of Sophies outstanding green sauce. A shoe would taste good with that sauce. Daily specials and huge portions make this a great FiDi lunch spot. Welcome back!

This newest installment of Sophie’s Cuban opened up on a Monday, right before a snow storm! Anyway what do you get — you get your standard Sophie’s cuban food that you’d get at any other location — but the place is new and clean! Which is always a plus. I love spanish food and Sophies cuban hits the spot.

This Fulton Street location is the newest addition to the Sophie’s Cuban chain. They are pretty much consistent overall on food items and customer service. The standard menu items range from, chicken, fish, pork and beef complimented by white or yellow rice along with plantains or beans. The Cuban sandwiches are tasty and the portion size is decent for the price. The staff here was pleasant and welcomed everyone out of the snow on a crappy day. The food can be heavy given the meat, starches and gravy. It’s my go to restaurant when I want heavy comforting food but taste good while at it.
