Simply stated they are dishonest. I came in as a new customer & was told they didn’t clean one of my shirts because it had a hole in the elbow. The point was to ask if I still wanted it cleaned & alert me they didn’t damage it — fair enough. So I asked if they charged me for it – 3x I asked this and was told, no they did not. I took it at face value, but when I got home checked the receipt(I know) and saw it had been charged. Flat out lie. The owner also was trying to dissuade me from using my debit card by acting like her computer turned off at 7pm & would not take charges that late(ie she wants cash). This nonsense I ignored & told her to just try it & wouldn’t ya know it – computers work after 7pm. Go figure.

The dry cleaning was average, but the customer service is absolutely horrendous. I’m not sure what happened to the lady who runs the place, but she became very mean, very fast. It started when she would be late with certain items by several days(not hours… days.) Then she would find ways to make it the customer’s fault, as hard as it may be to envision how. No apologies, no attempts at friendliness. Eventually, she began refusing to pick up dry cleaning at our apartment(even though SHE originally suggested this as an option), and being quite ill-mannered about it. We have always been cordial to her in the past, and have brought her quite a bit of business over the past two years. That has come to an end, there are simply too many competent and friendly dry cleaners in the area, and her bad attitude simply isn’t worth it.

S.S. must have gone to a different Little J Cleaners than the one on 1st ave between 50th and 51st street. This dry cleaners is essentially part of the neighborhood. My roommates and I stopped by here frequently, whether to drop our laundry off or just to have a conversation with the management there. They are pleasant about everything and try as best they can to make the service convenient to you. Broken buttons are replaced free of charge, alterations and repairs are made with the best of care, my dress shirts are starched, washed and ironed to my specifications(regardless of how ridiculous they may be). I live in Williamsburg now, and my roommates and I still go back to drop off certain items because of the quality of work that is done there. If you live in this neighborhood, or even if you do not, I highly recommend this establishment not only because of the quality of drycleaning but also because of the people who work there and how wonderful they are.

They started off pretty good(but always overpriced 2 years ago) It has now become possibly the worst dry cleaners I have ever come across in the city. I have lived here for over 10 years and I used them a few times. EVERY single time I get my laundry bag back I am missing something or the other. The women who works there is rude and lies about the fact that I will get my laundry back the same day– and then goes ahead and pays me for same day service. A royal rip-off! I know atleast 4 people in my building who are not going back as they have had a similar experience. This place needs a serious change of management. I would never recommend this place.

I come to NY about 8 nights a month. I travel so much in between that I rarely remember my own name. That’s not true with the Little J from the second time I walked through the door they remembered me. They are very patient with periods of time between when I drop off and when I pick up. They have done beautiful alterations at a reasonable rate and the are always warm, courteous, professional. With 5 cleaners in the 2 blocks surrounding my apt, they are far and away the best.
