We provide training in easy to learn self-​defense, combat and fighting techniques that are fun, get you incredibly fit and increase your confidence.

Krav Maga, which means ‘Contact Combat’ in Hebrew, is a modern and practical form of self-​defense and a complete fighting system that is simple, effective and practical. This reality-​based form of self-​defense has been developed over decades for use by civilians, law enforcement agencies, security agencies and the military and special forces all over the world. It is used in hostile, violent and unpredictable environments all over the world.

Our techniques have been tested on battlefields, streets and in the toughest and most hostile areas in the world, including New York City.

History

Established in 2011.

The Krav Maga Institute NYC is the first and only IKMF training center in NYC. Established in NYC, the Institute offers a wide range of weekly classes, intensive workshops, short courses and private training opportunities.

Currently we offer classes in Tribeca and the upper West Side locations. In addition to our daily regular Krav Maga NYC self defense classes we offer additional Krav Maga Training NYC in Combat and Fighting, Functional Fitness, Tactical Fitness and Master Classes

IKMF stands for International Krav Maga Federation. The IKMF is a non-​profit organization that teaches Krav Maga and fitness methods to civilians, special forces, military and law enforcement professionals all around the world.

We have the largest and most experienced Krav Maga instructor team on the East Coast of the USA. All our instructors are certified IKMF Krav Maga instructors, CrossFit Level 1 trainers (CF-​L1), they are highly trained and experienced practitioners, trainers and educators. We are widely considered to be among the best Krav Maga trainers in America because our focus is to change peoples lives and maintain the highest possible training standards.

Law enforcement, security organizations, the military, women, kids and men choose us to teach them Krav Maga to help keep them safe.

I started Krav Maga in Jan 2014 and I must say it is really different from any other Martial Arts I have tried. There is no competition as the only objective is to learn how to get out of trouble as quickly as possible and as unharmed as possible.
The Financial District location is my favorite. It is so conveniently close to work that I can’t not go to class every Monday. The locker room is super clean and has the extra amenities that makes you want to go even more (steam room, sauna, juice bar, etc).
As with other locations, all the instructors are extremely competent and friendly. Classes usually have a «fitness» and a «technical» part, both quite intense. During the later, instructors explain the moves with proper anatomical precision and examples (and humor). The part I like the most is when our training drills replicate as much as possible some «real life» situations.
The number of students per class is not too high and the instructors can give everyone the right amount of attention.
Finally, the «Master Classes» or seminars are really fun and practical/​realistic (Multiple Attackers, Bar Fights, etc).
I recommend the practice of Krav Maga and especially the Financial District location to everyone (friends, family, etc).

I love this location. Big. Clean. Comfortable. Modern and the Krav Maga classes are great. This is the best self defense system I’ve ever tried (and i’ve tried quite a few). It’s a simple, intuitive system that allows people of all body types and heights to be able to learn to defend themselves is what makes this school for me a must for anyone interested in keeping in shape and also learning the most efficient self defense system I know. Recommend it a 100%

I’ve dabbled in different forms of martial arts for the past few years. Earlier this year, I decided that it was time to give Krav Maga a shot to see what it was all about. After a decent amount of research on Krav schools around NYC, I decided to try out the Krav Maga Institute (KMI).
Picked up the phone to call and ask a few questions and ending up speaking directly with Patrick — the founder of KMI. He explained that all new students had to go through an induction process as the very first step. I wasted no time in signing up for the induction class (that very night). Been hooked ever since.
The instructors are uniform in their approach to teaching and they take the time to explain each and every single move properly. Then they have the students practice at a slow, controlled pace to make sure everyone understands it completely. They do so by breaking each move into smaller steps and having everyone go through the individual steps multiple times until it sticks. Classes are structured in a way so that you are warmed up prior to learning whatever technique is being covered that day and then on to practicing with your partners.
Classes are always fun and interesting. All techniques are taught in a way that mirrors real life scenarios. Best part of this for me is that fact that you walk out of each and every class feeling like I picked up a new move /​way to protect myself. Have met some cool people as well!
The instructors are very friendly and approachable. They are very helpful and will stop to break things down and explain until you fully understand (Individual attention is KEY and you get that here). KMI has multiple locations around Manhattan which has been key to my attending 2 – 3 classes per week.
I would recommend KMI to anyone who is interested in trying out Krav. Oh and two things: Get Groin Protection and a Mouthguard :)

I have been training with the Krav Maga Institute school for more than a year. Prior that I was doing boxing for more than 6 years, but what I’ve learn here is incredible: Great teachers, awesome friends and of course lot of fun.
