STAY away! One of the women who does the nails is the sneakest woman ever. Tried to trick me into a spa pedicure, didn’t give me the right money back for my tip. Just tried to hustle me. The worst in New York. I felt so miserable in there. Ugh so thirsty for money. And on 5 of my nails, the paint chipped after a day after.

The Cons: Came here for a quick gel, ended up taking 2 hours! They don’t use any electric tools, so my nails look like I have thick gel bubbles on them, which is so nasty looking. I spent $ 63 + $ 7 tip (that she assumed I was giving her because she never gave back my change and decided to put it in her drawer on the sly.) So that was a bit aggravating.
I am VERY picky with nail salons. When I moved to Texas from California it took me a year to find the perfect nail tech. Now that I’m a New York resident, I figured it would save me half the time to find the perfect manicurist, I’ve been fooled! I refuse to pay $ 80 for a crapy job.
Now on to the pros: The nail tech was pleasant– told me her life story. The salon was cleaner than clean which was a HUGE plus plus plus. No loud gossiping chatter between employees, which was so lovely and peaceful. Great selection of nail polish. They have a rewards program.
3 stars, simply because $ 70 was a rip off for a simple nude color gel mani that looks like sh*t. According to the reviews I’ve should’ve gone to JuJu… not sure what my tech was named.
I won’t give it another try, so on to the next nail salon.

Clean, friendly, fair prices. Don’t get any pressure to upsell you unwanted services. Gentleman host very nice as well. Hate the «nail mill» places, and this is NOT one of them :-)

I love this place — they are the cleanest I’ve seen in this area: (1) the tools they use for each client are single-​use (i.e. they come from the sterilized packets like at the dentist) to help prevent the spread of infection between customers, (2) they have basin liners upon request (I always request one!) for the pedicure pools and (3) they don’t just clean the water basin but also remove the water jets (where bacteria grows) after each pedicure. PLUS, David and the staff are super nice and helpful — they won’t let you struggle with your pocketbook trying to get to the foot/​nail dryers. Yuyu is the best and Maria is also very good.

I just realized most of my reviews are about nail salons lol.
I live/​work in Midtown and couldnt find this salon for a while after being there a year ago.
I must admit its the best service in the area.
And trust me– I know what Im talking about haha
All of the girls are very professional, patient and know what they are doing!
Ive been coming to Juju a lot, she know exactly what I need and never left me disappointed:)

I have used this spa for almost 2 years but after my experience this afternoon I will NEVER return. They have a standard list of prices for Bikini, semi-​Brazilian and Brazilian. I went there this afternoon for a semi– Brazilian. Now i will admit that my hair looks thicker because I am black. But I had been there multiple times before and paid the listed price for what i requested, a Semi-​Brazilian. The lady took one look at my hair and insisted that I had to pay for the much more expensive full Brazilian. No where on the list of services is it mentioned that they will charge more due to hair type. I left that shop almost in tears because that woman was so rude!!! She kept calling me hairy, which I am not! Regardless, I only wanted a semi-​Brazilian and from what she was telling me it sounds like she wanted me to pay for a full brazilian even though she would not wax all the areas of a Brazilian. I immediately jumped off the table and left the shop.
I dont like throw out accusations of racisms, but this feels like she wanted me to pay more because my hair is curlier and looks thick even though I get regular waxes. I felt humiliated and the manager did nothing to chastise his worker even as she followed me to the door to continue her yelling. I wish i could leave zero stars!
I have never been treated like that in my life and I will be calling the city to complain about their discriminatory pricing.
Avoid this place!

Would not go back. Got a regular manicure and the paint job is horrific. Nail polish on my skin/​cuticles even after I’ve asked for it to be cleaned up. Would not recommend this place.

Came here today and found out Helen no longer works here :-(. I went to Kathy though and she was fantastic. Definitely recommend her.

I just moved to the neighborhood and found Kari’s just around the corner from my new apartment. I hadn’t had a mani/​pedi in several weeks (I usually go every week or every other but held off since I was moving and doing a lot with my hands) and was looking forward to treating myself for the first time in a while. Upon walking in, I was amazed at how large the space was. I am used to tiny NYC nail salons that feel super cramped so the size of Kari’s was a pleasant surprise. There was surprisingly only one other person there so I was taken immediately. I was a bit disappointed that they did not do my mani and pedi at the same time as there was no one else in the place and a few technicians sitting around but it was no big deal. I had the pedicure done first and it left a lot to be desired. The whole thing was extremely quick and I was highly disappointed that they barely scrubbed my feet with the pumice stone (I was in dire need of this) and that they quickly slathered on some lotion and called it a massage. I then had my mani done which was ok, however my nails were filed unevenly and I was EXTREMELY disappointed that they did not give me a quick shoulder massage while I was drying as all other NYC nail salons do. They were very nice and helped me put on my socks, boots and coat and held the door open for me on the way out. However, I don’t think I will be coming back to Kari’s.

I got a waxing and manicure here a few days ago. The nail technician was professional, and did a detailed job. I was greeted at the door, and the staff at the front opened the door for me as I left. I was treated well! My nails are lasting nicely.

I loved the way my gel manicure turned out. The staff was nice and friendly.
I was coaxed to get a back message for which I obliged willingly. However, the girl who gave me a back message was not experienced at all. I think I might’ve felt more tense afterwards than when I came in.
I mean… For being a nail salon they do a great job. The prices are good for being in midtown. I can’t complain. Sadly, I just don’t think I’ll pay for another back message.

I know this is a nail salon and for nails they are fine. What upsets me about this place is that when you ask for a shoulder massage, they just give you anyone even if they don’t seem to be trained in massage. I’ve had a few chair massages in this place and most of them were not skilled in massage at all. Other nail salons will only give you certain people that are trained in massage. That’s why when you come in they’ll say so and so is not there and can you come back later. This place just gives you anyone, even if they have no idea what a pressure point or knot is. I know this is mainly a nail salon but they shouldn’t offer a service that they can’t properly provide. Will not be back for massages, possibly for nails.

This was not a good experience. I came in for acrylic backfills and they had no idea what they were doing.
The woman used superglue all over the nail, after some light buffing that didn’t remove my gel nailpolish completely. She then dunked my fingers into the pot of acrylic powder, swished them around and tried to dust them off with a tissue that she reused time and again. The nail came out rough, with lumps in it, and my skin was coated in glue and powder.
I explained how every other manicurist has done it, using a brush and forming the new nail over the top of the old one. She told me that’s not how it’s done (I’ve had fills every two weeks for years in NY, CA and Australia!!! and everyone has done it consistently with a brush). She told me to go to California if I want it done differently.
After buffing again she applied polish but the polish rode up the skin of the cuticles because the acrylic is messily extended all over the skin.
A complete and utter disaster. DO NOT use this salon. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

LOVE this place! I came here for a manicure and pedicure and everything was great!
This place was spacious, new and very clean! And everyone in the salon was super professional and sweet.
The owner of the salon actually came to meet me too!
The prices are super reasonable for the area.
And they do your manicure and pedicure together to save time!
They offer tons of other services like massages, facial, waxing and tanning.
I definitely wanna come back and try the facial and massages!
Will return again for sure! try it!
