Located on a stretch very convenient to a lot of us Midtown East office workers, International Plaza Nail is a solid choice when time is a factor and you can’t go very far for very long. At $ 19 for a pedicure and $ 10 for a manicure, it’s less expensive than some places nearby(like Tudor Garden) but you pay for it with the push for upsell of massages, the«special drying polish» which apparently isn’t included, etc. The room is pretty large, with close to 10 pedicure stations, but it’s not the newest massage chairs. They use Essie and Opie polish and it’s an easy lunchtime walk in.

The manicures and pedicures aren’t bad and they do take time to remove your ingrown toe nails to give you relief. It is also convenient for people working at the UN to pop in at lunch time. My only peeve about this place is the man who bugs you when you are having a mani-pedi. He pushes massages and before you even have a chance to say«Yes» or «No», he starts to massage your neck and shoulders. He reeks of stale and smelly cigarettes and bad breath and this experience totally turns me off and spoils the mani-pedi. Now, if I am in a rush and go there, I make sure to tell him«No massage!», before he even approaches me. To which I get a sneer and an unpleasant laugh in return.
