Our History
Four generations of Boyd family members have been creating bright healthy smiles for New York City families. It all started in the late 19th century when Dr. Leon Boyd began his career near the dawn of modern dentistry. His passion for dental work and commitment to excellence spread to his son, who taught his sons, who in turn inspired theirs – today the Drs. Boyd carry on the family’s legacy of providing quality and compassionate care to their patients and their families.

Working for and with the Drs. Boyd is an experience unlike any other. They are a family of dentists who love dentistry, take on challenges most dentists would avoid. Dr. Alvin Boyd jokes that it is genetic defect in the Boyd line.
They love being in the lab: hands-on, crafting gold inlays and onlays, making temporaries, analyzing dies and restorations under microscopes. They have perfected a multiple cast gold post process unlike anything I have ever seen before. Nothing is ever «good enough”; they always believe they can do better. Drs. Alvin & Norman Jr. were adjunct faculty at the Columbia University School of Dental & Oral Surgery for about 30 years.
Their practice has been built and maintained by patient, dentist and medical professional referrals since Dr. Norman Boyd, Sr. founded the practice in 1930. In addition to generations of dentists working together there are generations of patients who trust them to take care of their dental needs.
