I have stayed at this Double Tree several times and I really like the location. The staff is very nice, the rooms are clean, the rooms are big compared to other hotels in the area. The rooms are also clean and Gingers is good for breakfast if you get the buffet for free. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is right in the middle of things.

ONE OF THE WORST. Not only was I able to check in because I was 18 (because of alcohol reasons which doesn’t make sense because you need ID to even touch it) But when I couldn’t check in and sat down to figure out the situation, the manager and staff started to mock me, my fiancé, and my brother in law. What kind of staff hospitality is this? NEVER am I coming here again.

Our experience here was very good. The rooms have plenty of storage space with three dresser drawers, an armoire, and a storage bench. The seating in the living room area is comfortable, and there’s a good sized desk and the living room has a mini «kitchenette» with a sink, coffee maker (comes with coffee and tea!), a microwave, and a mini fridge under the TV. The bathroom was nice and roomy as well, but no storage here. We had free wifi and that was a nice touch. We did not get the free breakfast package and the breakfast buffet was standard but kind of pricey at 32 $. The location of this hotel can’t be beat– it’s right in the middle of Times Square. During our stay, the blizzard was happening and the cleaning lady told us that our room would not be cleaned (I’m assuming this is because the other cleaning people couldn’t get to the hotel for work) but gave us fresh towels. The concierge was very helpful whenever we needed to ask for directions, dinner recommendations, or helpful tips. The only small issue we had came when we booked an extra night (flight was canceled due to the storm) and they charged us for not showing up even though we had checked in again and had been there for a week already! Luckily we got it taken care of and the charge was removed so no problem there. Overall– would definitely recommend!

I must say, the service and the rooms are nice but the refrigerator doesn’t have anything stocked. We thought that we can come to the room to drink and relax but the refridgerator was totally empty!!! Fyi… stock your fridge with water at least!!!

Smack bang in the middle of Time Square, couldn’t ask for a more alive and central location to experience Manhattan. If you leave your blinds open at night you might confuse it for daytime but the block out curtains do a great job.
The rooms are really good and quite functional. Being a suite is awesome, power points available on desks, plenty of drawer space to unpack and a nice big comfortable bed.
I lucked myself into having a gold membership which meant free wifi, breakfast and a higher room (32nd floor). The wifi was pretty good, I didn’t test it out for work purposes but it handled general web use with multiple devices and also YouTube entertainment (occasional buffering but nothing too distracting). The breakfast was okay, won’t blow your mind but if it is free it is good (it is called «Gingers» if you want to look it up on Unilocal).
The staff were all pretty nice and helpful. Our first night was a bit cold and the heater didn’t seem to work well (the hallway was warmer) but after mentioning it the next night it was all good.
Overall great location, comfortable and friendly hotel.

This hotel is right in the middle of Times Square. Great location to get around, we went for new years eve. It was an awesome experience. The hotel is smaller and older than it seems in the pictures. The gym is nice, and the rooms were decent. We had easy access to the square, the check in was a little crazy but I am sure every other hotel was the same way because it was new years eve in Times Square, NYC.

Meh, I’ve stayed in other Double Tree properties that were much better in a number of ways, but the location of this property is it’s biggest strength and weakness. In the morning it is very bearable, but by noon the people outside the front door are so thick you can barely move. There are also people every 10 feet trying to sell you a bus tourism package or begging you to buy their CD’s. Again, you’re smack dab in the middle of Times Square!
Being a Hilton Honors member meant that our breakfast was paid for which saved us more than $ 250 over the two breakfasts we ate. The food is pretty good, but nothing incredible. Again, the location dictates the insane price for the food.
My biggest disappointment with this property is that the concierge was absolutely horrible. I tried contacting the hotel via twitter and the Hilton account said that they had passed my request on to the property and they would get back to me. We had requested that they secure us a dinner reservation at a local restaurant. Two days after the day of the request I received a tweet from the property telling me that I had already checked in and it was too late. Duh??? This is not a cheap property and I expect a property of this ilk to have a top notch concierge… but they definitely fall short!
If you want to be in the thick of things this is where you want to stay. I would recommend staying a bit further north toward Central Park and taking a cab to the chaos, but everyone has their own road to London!

Not very impressed. Usually me and my friends would book a hotel room once in a while to hang out and catch up with life. usually we are impressed by the Hilton brand but not for this branch. Service here is spectacular and friendly but the amenities here sucks if you want a budget Friendly hotel.

Transfer elevators every time you go in and out of hotel
Scary elevators. They do not level up with the door when it opens. Be careful if you are the type to fight to get into one.
The desk in my room felt like it was going to collapse if you slightly push it
Slightly confusing to check in… check in desk is on the 3rd floor but in order to go to the 3rd floor you have to present your room key to get pass the 1st floor. Why?
Room cleaning service at 9 am… isn’t that a little too early?

Not a big fan of this hotel. As a HHonors diamond member, I have tried many Hilton-​family hotels, and in my opinion this property is not up to usual standards.
My first room had an issue with the toilet valve continuously leaking and making a lot of annoying noise. After a night there and once they confirmed they could not repair it, I was offered to change to another room. No upgrade offered for the inconvenience, or compensation of any sorts (usually they throw in a few extra HHonors points or something) My second room is slightly smaller and the mattress is substantially older and soft. Not happy with the change, but OK. Rooms are in general spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is definitely not par with other Doubletree hotels in the area. Quality, variety and service are lacking, and I did not expect to see (hard) plastic plates here (!!!) There is no dedicated HHonors desk and the wait for the front desk can be painfully long. Overall, not satisfied and probably won’t return.

Pros: right on Times Square, fit 3 adult women in the two bed + sofa bed for almost a week with no issues, doormen during day very helpful with getting cabs, lots of restaurants and delis within walking distance
Cons: restaurant is tiny and you can’t sit at a regular table dying non peak hours for just drinks; security was intermittent in terms of checking hotel keys to gain entrance. When they were checking they were obnoxious and attempted to sound tough and threatening to those who did not manifest a key within seconds of entering the lobby; you have to take one elevator from the street level lobby to the main hotel lobby and then take a separate set of elevators to your room. The elevators were slow, only have the doors open for a few seconds dust leading to lots of people try to jam and arm into closing doors to keep them open.
Not a true luxury hotel but with the extra room served it’s purpose is. Hopefully the next time I come all of the construction will be done.

Nothing is really wrong with this hotel it is just tired. From the front to the rooms and when you are paying 290 a night there are better options. The location is great! The rooms are big and that is a plus. If you need a big room and cheaper this is the place. The room, coffee pot did not work but when i called the desk they broght a new one. The bathroom is old and mold on the tile. It really is like a old Ramada Inn. Good location, bigger room… but that is it. I will not return

This is seriously an amazing place. You would think that being in Times Square that the rooms would be a) noisy b) small c) dirty. But noooooo. DoubleTree is none of these. It’s the most quiet hotel room that we’ve ever been in. I can’t understand it. We heard no noise from people on either side of us, no noise from above. No street noise (we were on the 37th floor). It was blissful! The bed was SO comfortable — again, best hotel bed I’ve slept in. And the size of this hotel room was crazy huge for NYC — we basically had three good sized rooms (bedroom, living room and bathroom). We lived like royalty. I would definitely recommend it (and will be coming back for sure).

If you want to stay in times square this is a really great deal. one of the more affordable stays and the views are pretty good if you get a room facing times square. I loved the cookies. I didn’t actually eat in the restaurant but the room service wasn’t bad at all. I mean it’s NYC so you can get a meal in a lot of different places relatively easily.
Overall it’s affordable. Be wary though times square is not like it used to be things shut down pretty early it seems now, so in the summer this is cool in the winter when it’s freezing this sucks.

Where else in New York can you get a sometimes affordable, reasonably spacious and well appointed two room suite, with a beautiful view of Times Square? If you need a hint, I am disappointed in you. The answer is nowhere!
Make sure you specify a room with a view and use the $ 20 trick or your Hilton über-​status to get one. Otherwise, you might have a view of a brick wall. You have been warned.
Finally, they accept Hilton points and you can stay for FREE. FREE. FREE.

While visiting Manhattan last month, we stayed in two separate hotels, and were very excited for our stay in this one. As HHonors Gold members, we were looking forward to a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen. Of course they were very busy as it was Christmas time, but this does not excuse the multiple issues we experienced.
First, upon check-​in, we were immediately given a very hard sell to join the Hilton Grand Vacations Club. When we stated that we weren’t interested, the gentleman continued to push, going so far as to insult as by stating that we’re just wasting money paying to stay at Hilton properties. Seriously?
Secondly, when we received our room, we went in & it was obvious that either someone had checked into that room then subsequently left, or the room was just extremely dirty. There was hair on top of the mattress, in the sink, and all over the bathroom. And I don’t mean one or two, I mean somebody was having a serious shedding moment.
We were moved to a second room, where we settled in. Upon trying to wash my face, I immediately noticed that the sink was barely draining at all — as in, I couldn’t even wash my face without the sink filling. I called down & Maintenance was sent up. The gentleman first tried to clear the drain using simple tools, then told us that it was worse than he originally thought. He came back several minutes later with some significant machinery, and had to tear apart the sink and remove quite a bit. Even he was surprised that housekeeping hadn’t noticed that the sink didn’t drain — and I’m left wondering exactly how well they cleaned it, to not notice it, or were they simply too lazy to report it?
And the rooms themselves look very tired — peeling paint, doors & walls badly in need of painting, dated fixtures, etc. I realize it’s a busy property, but Hilton still has standards, and this property isn’t meeting them.
We were also surprised by the staff members here. We travel quite a bit, and are accustomed to being greeted when entering and leaving a hotel, being met with a smile when we approach the front desk, etc. The staff here acted as if they’d rather be anywhere but there. Again, I get that they were busy, but this is simply unacceptable.
Overall, we were very disappointed with this stay. It didn’t ruin our trip by any means, but we certainly would not stay here again, and are seriously considering our options as far as switching our loyalty to a different hotel chain, as Hilton appears to be significantly lowering their standards.

I stayed here on my last two visits to the Big Apple. You’ll be right in the middle of Times Square. The staff is friendly and the hotel feels secure.
On both visits I had awesome views. I’m not sure there is a bad view in this building.
Would highly recommend this location and this is my hotel of choice in NYC.

I stayed here on a recent work trip to New York City.
This hotel isn’t near Times Square: it is IN it. That can be wonderful or awful depending on your preferences. I liked being able to catch the subway easily and enjoyed being close to Broadway. I even enjoyed being surrounded by lots of people and noise 24⁄7. However, catching a cab took a while (most that drive through Times Square already have passengers) and it takes a lot of time to locate decent restaurants away from the chains. I’m still having nightmares from when I accidentally walked past Guy Fieri’s place *shudder*.
The hotel room was spacious and clean. I had great views of Manhattan and was removed from the noise, so sleeping was easy even with the hustle and bustle below.
I did have a few gripes on this hotel:
— the lobby felt like a nightclub and blared loud music 24/​7, even during breakfast (no amount of coffee can prepare you for house music at 7AM)
— the service was pretty awful, although I find this is common for a lot of Times Square hotels. Maybe the employees know the place will be busy regardless so excellent customer service isn’t as vital? As an example, I had work-​related packages delivered to the front desk and requested they be sent to my room. It took over 4 hours to receive them, even with reminders to management that I was waiting
— the value for the price (again common for Times Square hotels) is non-​existent. The room was expensive at well over $ 300/​night and didn’t come with free wifi
