. We’ve stayed here so many times it’s almost got sentimental value now and it’s a fun location for the holidays.
The service still has room for improvement. We noticed that the door to our room didn’t close and lock reliably: it would just get stuck so that it seemed closed, then pop open later. Not a huge deal, but unsettling in a hotel where housekeepers will come in when you’re gone and you’re left to wonder if they noticed and locked up. When I mentioned the issue, the girl at the desk didn’t seem interested or make a note, just kind of gave me a polite «sucks to be you» look.

First off I would like to say that I am in the hospitality industry and I understand how frustrating it is to handle the public. And there was a handful of nice people working. Bill the doorman, the girls at the gift shop, Rene our server at the bar in the lobby and another concierge woman with blonde hair who was originally from Memphis. That was it!
My mom, aunt, and I decided to take a trip from Chicago to NYC and have a nice girls trip. I got a deal on the hotel because I stayed at one of their hotels for a wedding. So excited we’d be going back for the second time to NYC we purchased an extra night for an additional $ 400! Well let me tell you what a mistake it was to stay at this Hilton location!!!
To start off the staff was completely rude to us from the front desk to the management. We arrived at the hotel and checked our luggage because our room wasn’t ready which was understandable because it was early. However the front desk lady had an attitude when I asked her a simple question of what phone number do you have to call me when the rooms ready? When the time came to get the room we asked the one man if we can get our bags and he did and just gave them to us. We asked «so what are we doing? Do we take these up ourselves?» And the man went on to say «if you want to go ahead.» Right off the bat our experience was shot. What well known hotel with baggage service doesn’t offer to bring up our bags???
We continue up to the room and I will say the room was spacious for staying in NYC, but there was hardly any outlets in the room. Only one suitcase stand. And the lighting in the room was horrific. I mean you have three women staying in a room and you can barely see what’s going on!!! Not to mention the a/​c in the room was busted!!! We didn’t have air circulating which made the humidity horrible.
So the next day we went out and stopped at the concierge desk who was a young brunette and I don’t know if she could have been any more rude. We just asked her about places to shop. And she barely could speak English and acted so annoyed to even be answering our questions! Why would she even be put in that position if she had an issue with people asking questions. We came back to our hotel after shopping and our beds were made, but there wasn’t anything stocked up! We had no new soap bars, shampoo, or conditioners. My aunt ended up flagging down one of the housekeepers and asked her for supplies and she was very sweet and said please take what you need. However, By the final day we had no toilet paper. That wasn’t stocked.
Please note by the second day my mom was furious and asked to speak with a manager. Well it took 10 mins for the manager to come and see her at the front desk (George). She addressed all these issues and all he did was reply in a condescending tone to her concerns. He asked if we wanted to send up an engineer to the room to install more outlets, bring up a lamp or stronger light bulbs. He was very rude and was almost smiling and laughing at her.
Not to mention my boyfriend had roses delivered for me that was suppose to be there when we arrived but I did not get them until our last day. He contacted the florist and the florist stated they were delivered the first day. So he called the hotel and they told him we can’t find them. Call back later so he did and they still said we found them. Call back again and make sure we delivered them!!! He spent a lot of money on that to make sure they were there and all this staff did was hold the flowers in their possession until the last day!
I’m furious. We had such a wonderful time in NYC the first time we went and this time our experience was horrific. We spent an additional $ 400 on an extra night and for what? Rude people and a room that was worn out. The funny part about this all was there was a sign in the room that says «if you’re unhappy with your experience let us know and we’ll make it right.» Yah well they did not make anything right at all.
If I could I would give this hotel zero stars. I would stay at a different Hilton location or another hotel.

the man checking for room cards is a complete jerk he is profiling people with tattoos.
if he really is checking room cards than maybe he should actually do his job and stay put behind the desk. Definitely not coming back here. i spent over 2000 staying here.
too bad the pent house was taken i would have rather stayed there (coming from someone who has money i could afford to rent out a floor.

Location is perfect. Although right next to a subway stop, we’ve been walking everywhere. I could walk to grand central and Times Square. Still other places to explore like the roc and Central Park, and still planning on walking to and from.
Room is smaller than average, as you would expect in NY, but still ok for 2 people.
Subtracting 1.5 stars because their service is whatever. They greet us when we enter and leave but we’ve called the front desk or whatever like 5 – 10 times and no one has ever answered.
Oh and they advertise free wifi but that’s only if you’re a hhonors member.

Hotel is to pricy, rooms are to small
The house keeping didn’t change my towel after shower I left and came back all was not organized
But the smell going in the lobby is very inviting!

As soon as I entered the room I was not greeted by anyone. The big husky door boy just stood there as I dragged my huge luggage in myself .
I stood in the center of the lobby and no receptionist attended to me. I literally had to ask if anyone spoke English. As I dealt with the Latina receptionist, I was next to an elderly man being «helped «by a younger African American woman and she spoke down on him and persistently correcting him with room rates when he asked politely for a 10 night stay. EXTREMELY RUDE .
Older foreigners are practically clueless and she was so rude to him. FIRST RED FLAG .
The Latina woman was polite and told me cash was not accepted to I went to put my cash in a card, I stored my luggage and the older Italian man with thick dark hair and a mustache was extremely rude to me, didn’t bother giving me a ticket and I practically had to go out of my own way to make sure he got my luggage and when I returned, he abruptly snapped at me and said «DID YOU WANT YOUR LUGGAGE ?! Speak up next time «
Instead of snapping back, I figured he was a miserable old man and walked out and booked another hotel as I waited for my lyft .
AS I WAS WALKING OUT, the bellmen asked «DID SHE EVEN TIP? «DID SHE EVEN SAY THANK YOU ?! «
Of course I didn’t ! You were all extremely rude. The hotel apps reviews are very accurate. The staff is extremely rude. I would rather spend ³⁄₄₀₀ more for better service at a different hotel !

My husband and I stayed at the Doubletree this past weekend. We were in NYC for 5 days, 4 nights. We truly enjoyed our stay here. Check-​in and check-​out was 1 minute breeze. The housekeeping staff were exceptionally great and exceeded my expectations. The room was very clean and neat, we did not have to request any additional items. The price for the hotel was $ 159 per night which was excellent! I would say the best thing about this hotel is the LOCATION. The ⁵⁄₆ subway is right outside the door. Our group walked everywhere from this hotel (and actually this hotel was our meeting spot just because of the convenience). You can walk to 5^th avenue shopping, Central Park, Rockefeller Plaza, Times Square, you name it (obviously we like to walk in NYC ;)). In addition, the neighborhood has many nice restaurants and places to check out. Free warm cookie when you check in-​this was delicious!
To be honest, having free available wifi was not an issue for us because we didn’t need it and it’s not a deal breaker for me when I book hotels (unless I am on a strict business trip). In fact, right outside the hotel lobby, there are very nice eatery’s/coffeehouses with free available wifi. The only con was that the room is quite small and hard to move around (smaller then the other Hilton chains I have stayed at). It was hard to find a place to lay and open our one large piece of luggage. This wasn’t a huge problem bc we didn’t spend a lot of time inside our room and I think it’s perfect for 2 people. Additionally, I would have loved a small coffeemaker as a common courtesy :) Otherwise, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

If you apply for the Hilton Honours club online, which is free you get free wifi. You also get a free warm cookie on arrival, which I really liked.
This is quite a big hotel, really close to the heart of the city. An easy location for Central Park and for shopping and for Times Square etc etc.
Check-​in and out was really easy. The wifi was really reliable and I was able to facetime no problem. The room itself was really big, with a huge bed, tv (not that it was turned on), a desk and a small bath/​shower and huge vanity area. The curtains were properly blackout and I slept really well.
Only slight downside, is the hotel lobby/​lifts were freezing and the rooms not quite soundproof. So I could hear the group of school kids running around at night.
The concierge were great and helped me book my trip on the night bus.
This place also has a gym and a bar and small shop, but didn’t use any of these.
Reasonably priced for NY, good location, good bed = will recommend.

Three stars for clean comfortable rooms.
Zero stars for NO FREE WIFI. It is $ 15 per day to use the Internet! It’s 2016 and these jerks are charging separately for Internet.
Also no blow dryer. I didn’t pack one because I figured there’d be one here (like every other hotel ever) but no. None at all. EDIT: Found the hair dryer… it was in the dresser?
But also found out that the building next door is under construction and so the jack-​hammering started at 6:30a. Call ahead to be sure the construction had ended before you stay.

Pros:
1. Location: The location is conducive to subway travel as the 6 train is right outside the lobby doors.
2. Price: Along with subway accessibility, the reasonable price was the selling point for us. It was significantly cheaper than hotels located closer to the Theater District or Times Square.
3. Maid-​service/​cleanliness: The maid-​service was impeccable. Towels were replaced every night, we did not have to request additional soaps of shampoos, and they even found a missing sock and put it on the bed. Our room was clean on arrival.
Cons:
1. Noise: Although the noise in our room could have been due to its location by the elevator, it seemed unreasonably loud.
2. Size: The rooms are TINY. It was just my wife and me, so it didn’t amount to any problem; however, a family or four would have been cramped, with little space for luggage.
Overall: I would stay here again if the price is reasonable and it is only the two of us.

Im writing this review because i don’t usually believe some of the things i read but here we go im going to start with the positive and wonderful staff members that made my anniversary weekend great MARLYN, CATLIN, AIDA, AND THE DOOR MAN THAT WORKED 3 TO 11 SATURDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT (SORRY IF I MISSPELLED ANY NAMES) WITH OUT THESE AWESOME PEOPLE THIS REVIEW WOULD HAVE BEEN 1 STAR.
I ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL ABOUT 10 AM SATURDAY MORNING (03-12-2016)I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CAN’T CHECK IN THAT EARLY BUT SOMETIMES THINGS HAPPEN. But any way i didn’t mind going out and walking since Saturday was such a beautiful day.
I return about 2pm to get checked in to room 608 and was told by Jessica your room will be cleaned well because we have a DOUBLE CHECK guarantee so i was Excited to see.
Upon entering the room go into the bathroom i see a hair gross i could not believe it what happened to the double check guarantee now checking everything, open the dresser more hair at this point i called for a house keeping supervisor and Eris i hope that is his name came and saw with his own to eyes he was very apologetic which was nice but the damage was done i also showed him that the back of the television was extremely dusty and the bathroom door had brown watermarks.
(He offered another room but i didn’t want it i went across the street to Duane Reade got lysol and disinfecting wipes and cleaned the room myself)
So fast forward i went downstairs to vent to Jessica the front desk agent that assured me that every room is double checked and all she could say is we OFFERED YOU ANOTHER ROOM AND YOU DIDN’T WANT IT SO WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO) i was shocked because the way she told me was snotty. But im not here to bash, the hotel is in a great location i walked to times Square and central park.

I stayed here this past weekend and was really impressed. I used to live in New York, and love this area as it’s super central to everything. I’ve stayed at several high end hotels in Manhattan, and I was surprised to find that my experience at this double tree hotel was far superior than even at the Waldorf.
Pros:
–my room was beautiful, and quite big for New York standards.
–central location and right above the 6 train
–plenty of good restaurants nearby including the best bagel place in New York, Ess a Bagel (3^rd Btwn 50^th-​51^st)
–great prices
–they give you a cookie at check in
–free wifi for Hilton honors members
Cons:
–extremely long line at check in. It was out the door
–they didn’t have a second line for Hilton honors members
–no room service
–not the best customer service. I tried calling the front desk a few times and didn’t get through once.
I will definitely stay here again and again and again.

I’m from New York. don’t ask me why I got a hotel room here. Long story. Being a local I don’t normally stay in hotels in NY. If I stay in a hotel its usually higher end on the UES like the surrey or the Pierre. But last min the room was $ 104 a night. I figured I would give it a try it was better than $ 600 a night at one of the other hotels I was planning on staying at.
The hotel itself is located off of 51^st and Lexington. The door man was basically non existent to open the door. he did say have a good day when I checked out.
However My check in experience here was very good the lady at the HH honors desk was very nice and extremely accommodating. She even gave me a warm chocolate chip and walnut cookie which was so good because it was freezing outside. The lobby is absolutely filled with tourists. Most of the business people were sitting in chairs but there were a lot of tourists.
I got two double beds. The room was clean there was no view. I have no complaints. Where my room was located was facing towards third Avenue and there were buildings blocking any kind of the view but I did keep the noise out I was very surprised.
Overall the Doubletree by Hilton on 51^st and Lexington is a good hotel I have really no complaints.

Nice from a far but far from nice. Service is not that good, crazy when the counter help treats the guests like they are in the wrong place. Please I look young, don’t assume I’m young acting? Talk to me with the same respect and dignity I give you. I pay for upgraded room, no bell hop to help with bags??? I tip well, yet, like my front desk experience the doorman told me where to get a cab… and asked me at least 4 times when asking for help hailing a cab, «you staying here?» Sad excuse for an imposter of a «nice Hotel»

Always impressed by Hilton Hotels. My family was recommended this hotel from a friend who stayed previously. We got 3 rooms with a total of five people. The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff is great and always ready to help with anything. The bed was not too comfortable since mine was super creaky and made a lot of noise. I shared a double room with my sister and we both got a bed. Other than that, the location was great and was walking distance from all the major sites. Times Square was just around the corner as well as Rockefeller Center. I will definitely consider staying in this hotel again while visiting New York. I already recommended some friends this hotel if they are planning a trip to NYC. Can’t wait to be back!
The price was decent especially for the location. The total for one room with 2 double beds came out to be around $ 500 for 3 nights. Not too shabby at all.

I always try and look on the bright side of things but my experience at this property was not pleasant. I was given a room that was so tiny, to walk from the dresser which was to the side of the bed, to the door, I had to pass the end of the bed that was no more than 2.5 feet from the wall. With a TV mounted at shoulder height, this was un-​nerving. Before unpacking I called the front desk and asked for another room — even if it meant waiting for one. I was told all the rooms were like that. I found this to be false when I was leaving my room and the room next door was being serviced. It was a regular size room. Each day I would pass another that was open and all were regular size rooms. I could live with the smaller room, but don’t lie to me.
The appointments in the room were just OK but it was evident to me that quality craftsmanship was not used.
The majority of the staff was nice and the location is very good.

2 stars for location. Other than that…
No fridge — I found out from Unilocal reviews that you can request it. shouldn’t front desk inform you about this upon check-​in?
Closet stinks! It had that strong musty smell so I didn’t hang my clothes in it for fear of the smell «sticking» to them.
AC needs to be replaced! I could feel «summer» in my room even with the AC on.
I also booked this hotel because it’s relatively cheap, then I realized I overlooked the $ 14ish/​day charge for internet. Also, they charge $ 1/​luggage for storage. Take note of those.
The good news is that I didn’t see bed bugs. Lesson learned: read reviews first!

Horrible experience, ruined half our trip to New York. This staff at this hotel are unbelievably rude to all guests, especially the front desk. All the front desk agents need major attitude adjustments. I’m seriously surprised they are able to keep their jobs with such a bad attitude. We arrived on a Sunday and waited 6 hours to get checked in, being assured every hour that the room was almost ready. No apologies, no smiles and friendliness from the staff. They just acted annoyed that we were even there.
The lobby was full of guests waiting to be checked in during our entire trip, clearly they either overbooked the whole week or need a larger cleaning staff.
I would have been able to overlook the dirty room and flea market outside the hotel doors if the staff has at least been friendly.
My advise, do not book here!
Also, I was contacted on Twitter by a Double Tree rep claiming that if I directed messaged her she could help and I never received a response. I also emailed customer service about this situation and never received a response.
Corporate definitely needs to come in and replace all management who don’t seem to understand what «hospitality» is.

I loved staying here — right in the middle of all the action!
The rates were great, my room was always tidy and I’m so glad they accommodated me when my flight was canceled.
Be sure to ask for a blanket if you are allergic to down!
