I am a Yale alumna with a passion for teaching and lots of patience. I work with my students on standardized test performance, including the Common Core Standards exams, the English Regent, the SAT, the English ACT and the TOEFL exam. I also work with students (including ESL students) to improve their reading, writing, speaking, pronunciation and math skills (all levels in English, including graduate school; and k-​7 in math). Finally, I will help college/​graduate students and business people with research papers, memos, letters, and resumes. Background check and referrals immediately available upon request.

I have worked extensively for a major national tutoring company and with many public school, private school and university students in New York City. I will receive my Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certificate from Hunter College in the spring of 2016.

I feel strongly about helping my students develop a sense of their own worth and independent judgment. You will find me to be communicative, warm, and attentive to details, quick to ascertain where you need help, but not judgmental. You will feel comfortable with me easily. I will help bring out the best in you, but you will not feel unnecessarily pushed.

History

Established in 2012.

After deciding to end my long career involving writing and training for several financial service companies, I began volunteering with a charter school. There, I tutored elementary school students in English and Math and developed a passion for tutoring. Within a year of ending my career in financial services, I started this company to help students of all ages with their academic and professional pursuits.

Business Owner

Cheri Zeldis is the owner of Cheri Zeldis Tutoring. With the motto, «Lessons can be fun,» Cheri has more than four years of experience working with children and adults to improve their skills and can prepare you to improve your performance at school or at work. Prior to tutoring, Cheri was a financial writer and trainer for several financial companies. She holds a bachelor of arts degree from Yale University and hopes to obtain her TESOL Certificate from Hunter in 2016.
