Carl Pfeffer, DDS

Carl Pfeffer is a good dentist who provides excellent care. I had an emergency situation where a filling that another dentist in New York put in fell out after less than 3 years. Dr. Pfeffer was able to fit me in at the last minute and fixed my problem right away. His staff is very friendly and on top of it. I think he actually cleaned my teeth instead of having the hygienist do it.

Great dentist but awful communication and hostile customer service. I agree with one of the reviewers that Dr. Pfeffer is either away on vacation or observing a holiday like 60% of the time. I also agree that they want to keep scheduling you for every single procedure separately. Just charge my insurance for every itemized procedure, especially when I beg and plead to do like a cleaning and a filling. It’s always a struggle.
He’s good with his hands and I have referred multiple patients his way, which he knows about and you would think he would be somewhat grateful. They screwed up on their end and overbilled me significantly. They refused to speak to me to address and correct an issue. Multiple calls and visits in person and he would not come out to speak to me even though he knew I was waiting for hours.
It’s unfortunate. I would love to keep going to him, but after this happened several times and how unprofessionally this was handled, it’s time I found someone else.

Best dentist in Manhattan by far! Its a lot of work to find an honest dentist, who doesn’t try to pilfer more money from you as you sit in the chair. Excellent professionalism, punctual, and great table side manner.

I have severe anxiety issues when it comes to dentists so I do not go regularly. It had been years and I finally just had to suck it up and make an appointment just to see how my poorly neglected teeth were doing. My sister recommended Dr. Pfeffer to me and him and his receptionist, dental hygienist and dental assistant put me right at ease. They are very personable and were very patient with me and explained every procedure which really helped calm down my nerves. I will definitely be going back to Dr. Pfeffer and hopefully my fear of dentists will diminish as time goes on.

Do not make an appt. with Dr. Pfeffer if you need more than one visit. Clearly the most disorganized and patient unfriendly office I’ve ever been to. They don’t schedule more than one appt. at a time so if you need subsequent visits… ex. a cavity or filling you may have to wait 6 weeks before you get to see him again. He is constantly booked and constantly either on vacation or observing a holiday. He may be a good dentist but you can’t see him… emergency or otherwise.
Don’t bother.

This man is amazing. I’ve been seeing him for years. He has a wonderful office receptionist, and a great nurse. I’ve sent about half dozen of my friends and family there. the epitome of what a health care provider should be!

Dr. Pfeffer is very personable, answers questions well, and does a thorough job, while managing concerns and pain well. His assistant is also nice. Everything was on time, and I was in and out fast.

Dr Pfeffer is great. He makes going to the dentist awesome, and its a huge plus that he accepts the UFT welfare fund dental plan. I know lots of teachers that go see him.

Was recommended to Dr. Pfeffer by my brother who has been going to him for years. He’s a great dentist and very personable. I had concerns and questions which he took the time to answer and even go as far as show me what was causing the continuous jaw pain, pointing out how I must grind my teeth at night.
Furthermore he remembers the conversation you had on your previous visit and makes it a point to ask about how things are going in relation. His attention to personal detail is plus to his attention to detail once you’re in the chair.
He is not pushy and is extremely happy, there is no reason not to go to the dentist anymore! Truely a great experience. Oh and he has early morning appointments and Sunday appts.
