I adore An Ren! All pieces are designer made and exquisite. The material used and textures are just to swoon for! DEF by far one of my fav designers. The management and staff is also always wonderfully welcoming, knowledgable, professional and kind. Love!

A pleasant little shop full of custom-made designer coats– very much original artwork to wear, they are not simplistic lines or traditional silhouettes. Alas, price aside, the coats were invariably not in the size I needed if they were in the fabric I liked, so I would have needed to order one made special, though they –will– do that and ship it for you.

Their return and exchange policy are bad. If you buy an expensive piece with them, make sure you can return it with your credit card,

In this small, colorful boutique you can find bright and unique mixtures of patterns, colors, and fabrics in original pieces that flatter all body types. An Ren’s designs can be found in stores across the country, but her East Village boutique houses all of her jackets and tops under one roof where you are encouraged to try on different styles until you find the perfect match that will definitely help you stand you out in a crowd. The modern cuts, quality of materials, and richness of color and pattern make the pieces truly original and unique. Even though the prices are higher, with coats ranging from $ 300-$ 600 and lighter jackets from $ 100-$ 200, each piece has so much detail and care in craftsmanship that the quality is evident. With over 20 years of design experience, An Ren mixes different fabrics and textures skillfully to create jackets and coats made of tweed, cotton, wool, and silk with details such as ruffles, large buttons, prominent collars and contrasting stitching. Special touches are added such as removable sleeves to help jackets transition between seasons and whimsical oversized buttons. The interesting designs in varying color combinations are adventurous and bold and can seem difficult to navigate through, making the friendly and knowledgeable staff helpful in finding styles and can even customize your order if longer sleeves or different fabric combinations are requested. First original outfit i ever owned. The clothing in this store is super original. Love the details that are added to every piece. I cherish the pieces i purchased. I spend alot of time in the lower east side with my FDNY fire department buddy. He took me to this shop. I live in florida and the pieces catapulted me past everyone here who think they are the fashion plates. Will add other pieces on my next trip.

Lovely clothes designed for women. Stylish, simple, and unique. Not all the pieces were to my taste,(giant buttons) but there were enough pieces to catch my interest. Especially nice are her sample sales when the prices plummet dramatically. When I returned to San Francisco, I found her pieces in various SF clothing boutiques(at full price). She had told me she travels a lot to SF to get her line to the merchants here. Seeing her clothing here was quite nice. It was like bringing a bit of NYC home.

Yes, people should set themselves apart. But for these prices? I’d rather set myself apart by making my own clothes. The fashion here is a mixture of English peasant and city chic. Which really isn’t that different from the fashions of the moment.

An Ren at 315 East 9th Street, 212.388.9486. One of the many shops on east 9th street that makes this street a destination for so many shoppers looking for something great to wear without risking being another clone in the big bad fashion world of New York.
