History
Established in 2005.
Affordable Interior Design is based in New York City and was founded in 2005. The firm’s designers have worked on projects for HGTV, DIY Network, NBC, CBS, Food Network, and Giorgio Armani. Additionally, they transformed everything from studios in Bushwick to townhouses in the West Village – even a McDonald’s in Sunset Park. Our service area currently includes Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Westchester County (Scarsdale, Dobbs Ferry, Hastings on Hudson, White Plains, Yonkers, and Irvington), as well as some areas of New Jersey (i.e. Union City, West New York, Weehawken, Hoboken) and the Bronx.
Whether you just want to spruce up or need a complete overhaul, we have a design plan to meet your needs!
Meet the Business Owner
Betsy H.
Business Owner
Betsy Helmuth has appeared on HGTV, DIY Network, the TODAY Show, and CNN.
She studied visual art and theatre at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. After graduation, she moved to New York City and was commissioned to paint custom pieces and murals. She discovered that the spaces for which she created paintings needed more than great art; they needed a focused design concept.
Betsy sought formal interior design training, and her portfolio won her an internship at Thom Filicia, Inc., the designer from «Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.» During the apprenticeship, she learned the fundamentals of design. She left TFI to open Affordable Interior Design, a firm that gives clients of all budget levels a beautiful space reflective of who they are.
