Center of Woodwork

Center of Woodwork built me a stunning 64 square-​foot beautifully stained, maple wood bookcase with shaker panels, baseboard, crown molding, and adjustable shelves. It only took them 20 days to build since the shop drawings were approved, and was about $ 600 less than their competitor’s fee. It would have been a savings of almost $ 1,500 if I had not chosen shaker panels for the doors, because they cost extra. Note, however, that they did not charge extra for the delivery and assembly; both were included in the price. I chose Center of Woodwork over their competitors, because of their flexibility as they are able to find solutions to fulfill design requirements. It is also less of a hassle to deal with them, because they do the staining, and so the bookcase arrived already stained and ready for assembly. The men who assembled the bookcase are adept such that they are able to make major adjustments on-​site, and fit the bookcase perfectly without damaging the room’s baseboard and crown molding. They had installed the bookcase’s crown molding on-​site such that it is flush to the ceiling, and they were even kind enough to offer to install my TV. Moreover, they left the apartment spotless. Center of Woodwork might just take a while to respond to messages sent on Unilocal or e-​mail, but they are all very pleasant to work with, and responsive once you have their mobile number. I will definitely enlist again the services of Center of Woodwork in the future. I have and will continue to recommend them to anyone in need of mill-​work.

After a solid month of getting the runaround from various contractors we were pricing out to build a full-​wall TV/​shelving/​cabinet built-​in for our living room, as well as shelving, cabinets, and a built-​in desk for our den, my fiancée and I were starting to wonder if we’d ever get the work done. And then one night while I was doing the dishes, I looked down to Broadway and saw the Center of Woodwork van parked out front. Remembering that they had a showroom on the UWS, I checked out what they had on display and decided to have Manuel and Victor come in to give us an estimate for this project and for three custom closet build-​outs.
Keeping in mind that this project was being overseen by some very particular decorators, Manuel was able to give us a very competitive estimate (barely half the price of other estimates for similar materials!). He and his team worked closely with us and the decorators to ensure that the design, color, finishes, and quality of the work would be up to our standards. Manuel was also very helpful in his expert ability to tweak ideas and designs to make everything work well — his advice was always well-​considered and very well-​taken. I was especially pleased with the fact that we were kept up to date frequently on status of the project, and that Manuel and Victor were both immediately responsive to questions and changes in direction of the plans.
Bottom line is that from initial drawing phase right through addressing final punch-​list items, the CoWW team was completely outstanding. I would recommend them to anyone I know seeking to have custom work done on their apartment or home, especially if you are hoping to support local, family-​owned businesses that give the personal touch. (In fact, we have already referred them to a close friend in the neighborhood, who is very happy.)

I LOVE these guys, they were very knowledgeable, easy to talk to and work with. I contracted them to make my kitchen cabinets and it turned out better than I expected! They were fast on delivery and «no» is not in there vocabulary, Manuel and his family went above and beyond to get the finished result that worked for me. They made some adjustments to make my kitchen design and it turned out great. I also asked them to make additional furniture pieces for my living room after my kitchen was done and plan on using them again for other future projects. Their prices were reasonable, competitive and included installation. There’s no middleman, you’ll be working directly with the owners and they go over everything before they deliver your furniture. I am so happy that I went with this company.

I had a large cabinet added to my kitchen. Manuel came — listened to what i had in mind, made some additional suggestions and after a number of visits to to discuss ideas and take measurements — produced the cabinet drawings it was necessary to match the cabinets already in the kitchen in style and color and the match is perfect! Manuel suggested taking the cabinets to the ceiling and even added upper cabinets to those already in the kitchen. The price was very competitive with other estimates I had received. The work was done quickly (2 – 3 weeks) and the crew that did the installation was terrific — and very neat! I could not be happier with the work and would highly recommend the Center of Woodwork.

These guys did a terrific job. The new office built-​ins look and work great. Would recommend to anyone working to maximize space in a NY apartment. Will be using them again.

I had my sons’ room room redone with beautiful book shelves and customized desks for their space. Joe came in and took the measurements, sent me his designs, and easily accepted my own ideas and feedback. He truly wants you to be a satisfied and happy customer. The crew that put the shelves up did an amazing job. The book shelves, desks, and I forgot to mention, a beautiful customized twin bed with 6 drawers, extra storage space above the book shelves and a beautiful customized closet for a small bedroom, are of excellent quality. I had consultations with the more popular closet and custom furniture companies, and their materials were not made of real wood, and they were much more expensive for what they offered. I will definitely be using the Center of Woodwork again. Also, the carpenters came by to take one last measurement and were very particular to details. One last thing, we have new floors and they were so careful to not scratch or ruin the finished floors, and they also cleaned up afterwards. A truly professional and beautiful job!
