First off, get a room with a balcony. It’s one of the best views in NYC of the Empire St Building and B’way. Such a great place to enjoy champagne or eat breakfast. The rooms are tiny, but that is somewhat to be expected in Manhattan. Shower was fantastic and toiletries were C.O. Bigelow and smelled awesome. The staff is so incredibly accommodating and was able to fulfill (almost) every request as they couldn’t get us reservations at 11 Mad during our stay.
The only gripe that I had with the hotel was that they charged me twice for my hotel room, so do check your CC statement! I am still trying to get that worked out.

I booked a 2 night stay for my parents. I was particular about having them not be troubled with a bill. I put a call in the day before check out to NOT place a bill under the door in the morning. Specifically said, put a red flag on the room about this. Low and behold next morning, bill is slipped under the door. What the hell is wrong with this place? My parents were easy guests, no problem. Maybe next time I have to come in a be a pain in the ass to get the attention. But, there will be no next time. It’s is touted as a high end luxury hotel with excellent service and slick accommodations. I thought a VERY SIMPLE REQUEST would to be HONORED. SmythThompson you are falling off your standards or were you always like this?

I feel like The Smyth is my home away from home.
It is a smaller Boutique hotel with well appointed rooms, an amazing beautifully designed lobby that feels like your own living room and a fireplace for those chilly evenings.
The staff is always friendly and professional and make me always feel welcomed back like I am in my home.
Their attached restaurant (Little Park) has a great seasonal farm to table menu.

Staff was outstanding. Mid century design was consistent through out. Lounge and bar were really nice for hanging out, and staff was outstanding. Obviously can’t say it enough.

I love this hotel! Incredible service! Tom & Fabian at the front desk are amazing, helpful and so friendly! Moe was such a pleasure to meet walking into the hotel, he went out of his way to assist me during my stay in every aspect & even wrote me a handwritten welcome card! What a delight! I love the vibe of the hotel, great location, excellent quality of food, great and spacious gym! I had such a great stay and can’t wait to return! Please share my experience with your team as it was fantastic!

Review of the bar — wonderful ambience especially further back by the actual bar. Cozy and comfortable. Service was great and our drinks came out quickly.

We usually stay at the Greenwich but were looking for something different. The room was nice, but what I liked most was the glass wall between the shower and the bedroom area. After going out for drinks and dinner, we stopped at the hotel bar. There’s a quiet bar in the back with a fireplace and really good drinks.

Review of bar in the hotel that just opened last week. (The restaurant is planning to open next week).
The bar was great. Nice lounge tables all around. Great for small groups. The free bed and olives was nice touch.
Good overall atmosphere, hope it does not get too popular and then crowded.

Just left the Smyth after an awesome weekend for the NYWFF. The staff here was extremely helpful especially Angel at the front desk. They helped arrange a surprise birthday celebration for my friend. The room was very nice. Great bathroom. The hotel is located right next to subway although we used cabs and Über mostly. There are lots are restaurants nearby and the requisite Starbucks right across the street. There are some renovations going on but this had no bearing on the comfort of this hotel. My friends and I will return!

This urban, sleek, and modern boutique hotel is in the heart of TriBeCa, centrally located for an easy stroll to SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown, and the Freedom Tower.
The hotel is currently being refurbished, however, as needed upgrades are a part of the cost of doing business for any successful hotel, I do think it’s unfair of reviewers to ‘ding’ Smyth TriBeCa’s review on this point. The staff has created a temporary/​alternative entrance access on Chamber Street, with a interim reception & concierge office set up on the 8^th floor. You’ll need to use the service elevator to reach the street level, but it’s a minor inconvenience, if any. And considering the lower levels are under construction, the noise and impact on my stay was a non-starter…I was amazed at how quiet it was.
The hotel staff are very professional, helpful, and readily on hand for any questions or requests you might have. I was very impressed with the level of client support and customer service at this hotel, in particular, the hotel’s concierge was outstanding.
I was upgraded from a Queen to a King Superior room facing Chamber Street. It was large, clean, modern, and well-​designed. The bed was very comfortable and I hardly heard even a peep from my neighbors. The bathroom is the room’s best feature. The roomy, sleek, glassed-​in shower with marble subway tiles and stylish vanity area definitely appeal to the ladies, who will have plenty of room to spread out make-​up, toiletries, and hair styling tools.
While there is a complimentary ‘light’ continental breakfast available, I opted to go out to one of the local neighborhood cafes. You’ll have lots to choose from (Bubby’s, Le Pain Quotidien, etc.) just a short stroll away.
While there is a $ 15 wireless charge every 24 hours, as an alternative, there is free computer access available on the 8^th floor lounge and it was always available.
I’d like to come back to stay after the renovations are completed, to see what’s been upgraded. Overall, it was a very comfortable and easy stay in a lovely boutique hotel. Would definitely recommend to other travelers.

This is a lovely, comfortable hotel with very soft sheets and an upscale shower. Le Pain Quotidien is next door and Kula Yoga Project is around the corner. The reason why I am not giving more stars is the Thompson Scent — yes they are owned by Thompson Hotels and the entire lobby from the moment you walk in reeks of it. At first i thought someone with very strong perfume had just been there but alas, they actually infuse it in. If you like perfume, this is the place for you. If you can taste it on your tongue, it is not.
If you have AT&T, you will not get reception — you will not even be able to make a call or send a text.
Lastly, there will be construction round the clock — i could hear it at 3am — for the next few years as they are right near Ground Zero — if you are not sensitive to noise or perfume and no one needs to reach you, this is a great place to stay. They were very friendly.

We took the Amtrak into NYC, and did not get into NYC until about 1:30 am or so. Which is ok because they will check you in until 3am. We checked in and everything was very smooth. Get into the hotel room, it was very warm as they had the heat on since it was snowing outside. I turned on the faccut for water because I was dying of thirst and load and behold the water was cloudy. Not just mini clouds but like cloudy to the point you can’t see your other finger at the end of the glass. Since we aren’t from NYC, we thought maybe this is normal? No it couldn’t be normal since no normal person would drink this water. We told the front desk and they sent someone up here. During that time, when you let the water sit for 30 seconds, it starts bubbling and turns clear. What? Maybe perhaps the snow made the pipes weird? I have no idea. But make sure to check the water. They ended up giving us water bottles for the night at least.
Pros: AWESOME location, the Chamber St Metro is literally outside the door
The bed was über comfortable
Did not find any bed bugs
Housekeeping was on spot
They do NOT use Kiehls products anymore, they use something called REN
Front desk was really nice
They keep your luggage for you if you need it stored until you wait for your flight/​train
Free internet in lobby
CONS:
Internet is $ 15 for $ 24 hours –very spotty service
Sprint, AT&T and T-​Mobile have HORRIBLE service
You have to ask the front desk for ICE, even though there is an ice bucket in your room
A mini bottle of water is $ 4
A big bottle of water is $ 6 — rip off much?
A can of soda is $ 5
I’m not really understanding the bathroom and how it’s not a wall but instead it’s a tinted glass… so technically you can see the outline of a person when they shower…
No shower door… literally no door. Which i’m also confused about.
If you really want bottle water, walk to the whole foods that is a block away, and buy a gallon of water for $ 1.50 and just ask for ice.
Overall, this was a pretty romantic hotel to be at. It was very hip, modern and chic at the same time. 4 stars!

Perfect accommodations. We stayed in a room with a balcony overlooking the snow covered city. It was awesome. The staff, food, and drinks were all incredible. Special thanks to Christina the bartender.

This place has a totally awesome location, right near 2 subway stops with express lines running very frequently so it is really only about 10 minutes from Midtown. The staff is very accommodating and the rooms very comfortable. We were on the 2^nd floor across from the elevator and the room was very quiet. The neighborhood is super-​cute with lots of local bars, boutique stores and galleries and really gives you a NYC feel.
The bed is very comfortable and the bathrooms are awesome and contemporary. We got there at 7:30am off a red eye and they checked us in right away so we could get a nap. The room has a really good mini-​bar too. Really recommend this hotel.

Review for the restaurant downstairs. We were walking and out of curiosity we stepped inside for breakfast. It looked a lot bigger on the inside then from the street. There were multiple sections available, everything looked clean and inviting. I imagine if I were visiting from out of town it would be a comfortable atmosphere.
I saw the continental buffet laid out on the counter and was not impressed, everything did look delicious but there was not much variety to it. There was the usual boxes of cereal, assorted pastries, yogurt and fruit. I didn’t think it would be worth the ¹⁷⁄₁₈ bucks.
As soon as we were seated the waiter quickly took our orders and filled our water glasses. We ordered the salmon eggs benedict and egg whites scramble with potatoes. And then we played the waiting game. it took almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive. I would have understood if here were more people in the restaurant but there were only 2 other small parties. At least the server remained attentive and continued to fill our glasses as we waited.
I was very very excited when my dish came. I regret not snapping a shot, there were two english muffins HEAPING with smoked salmon, a poached egg and just the right amount of hollandaise sauce. Let me repeat again, there was more salmon than english muffin it was great! In addition there was a nice little side salad. But back to the eggs benedict, it was just delicious. I can’t rave enough about it. This was defiantly worth the 18!
I would have loved to have given them a better rating. just the speed in which the food arrived at our table blew my mind.
Quick note, there are two doors to this restaurant but the only usable entrance is actually through the Smyth TriBeca entrance.

Excellent hotel! The room was a good size and extremely clean — We got there 5 hours before the check in time and the staff was accommodating — They upgraded us for free to a larger room and we were able to check in right away.
We celebrated our engagement and they offered a free complimentary champagne and a cheese platter — Could not have asked more from our first trip to NY.

Awesome hotel. Booked for a night through Hotel Tonight. I was upgraded to a King Suite without asking. The room and bathroom was spacious. I can’t comment on service aside from the nice guy who checked me in as I’m pretty low key and I didn’t need anything.
Two small things stopped this from a five star review — no door on the shower stall? I’m messy in the shower. Like a kid. Water was all over the bathroom floor when I was done. And two, that mini fridge is TINY. if you need to fit anything in there — good luck.

Review for the bar downstairs:
It’s quiet, out of the way – relaxing spot to unwind after a nice meal. Cozy alcoves to recline in with a drink and chat. Not crazy about the décor, and the drinks are nothing stellar, but it’s a good evening spot that feels kind of hidden.

Clean, convenient, classy, enjoyable. Spent a lovely weekend at Smyth with the bf a little while back. Great location, a comfy bed, free breakfast (that’s free, not fantastical), and decent service — what more can you ask for?
I suppose some people may be put off by the «open» bathroom — my advice: come here with a close friend or your bf/​gf not your mom or acquaintance.
I would come back. Although, I will note this place might be too cool for me — I remember a comment by the front desk staff when we return around 1:30/2am — something about back so soon or in for the night? Dude, I live in Boston, this is a late night me!
