Undercooked pizza, breadsticks never came. So this story went…

Lived here off and on for 20 years and did not realize this place existed. That is until once again people from work pull me out when they come to town. We had been bar hopping and needed food. Found this place. Honestly it looked. like a hole in the wall and when you go in your perspective changes. There are large old style booths and pizza platters to give your pizza a stage before grab and chomp down. Pizza was pizza and not memorable for this review. Beer prices were OK, I don’t drink beer but remember the bill not being outrageous. It was a cool atmosphere to get away from Broadway for a short stint. I will go back once I can figure out where to park without paying too much and try the Stromboli which looked good and the wings because, well it’s a bar with a TV, wings should be tried. Real estate downtown is not cheap. This place must be doing something right. My only con is the parking. Service was fine and love the ambience as my favorite part of this joint.

So our visit to this restaurant was in late January and the restaurant was freezing cold. I would say the temperature was in the mid to high 50’s. If I were to rate individual aspects of this place on a 5 point scale I would give it: 3 – 4 on food, 3 – 4 on atmosphere, and probably a 4 for the servers… but it was SOOO cold we had to wear our coats in the restaurant to be even comfortable… so I am being generous in giving it a 3 star rating based on how cold we were. The three stars represent the efforts by the wait staff the kitchen and nothing else. Oh and by the way we specifically had the Stromboli which was pretty darn good and my wife had a meatball sandwic, which I tasted, that was also very good.

It was typical pepperoni and cheese pizza… what more is there to say? I needed a snack so I stopped in for a slice. It was good pizza. That’s all I have to say.

Their logo says«Best pizza this side of Italy.» I’m contemplating reporting them to the Better Business Bureau for false advertisement. When this place first opened, I couldn’t wait to try it because it looks like such a good place. Don’t let the atmosphere fool you, I’ve never been more disappointed. First of all, the price point is way high– even for downtown, it’s just way too high. We’re talking $ 20 for a small«speciality» pizza that comes out with toppings from a frozen $ 1 Mini pizza. The crust was absolutely horrible. Imagine crappy mass produced toppings on a saltine cracker and this pizza tastes worse than that would. We ordered some pricey cheese sticks as well. Yet again, frozen and mass produced, and not even cooked all the way through. I mean, if you’re going to charge people a premium price for frozen cheese the least you could do it cook it through, idiots. It pains me to say this, but 5 Points Pizza on the East side is 100% better and 25% less expensive. Just suck it up, brave the hipsters and go to East Nashville for your pizza fix instead. This place is garbage.

Food is average, but service is lacking. What really irritated me was the false advertising. The board behind the bar states, «$ 1 off slices» during Happy Hour, which is 11:00 — 7:00. And, the receipt shows $ 4 for a slice of pepperoni. But, clearly they ring up as $ 5 per slice. When I asked the bartender about the discrepancy, she said Happy Hour is only Monday-Friday(we were there on a Saturday) and it’s labeled incorrectly on the receipt. No where is it posted that Happy Hour is only Mon-Fri. And, she said that discount doesn’t apply anymore, even during Happy Hour. «The computer hasn’t been updated to print the correct price.» What?! So, you give customers receipts that say pay me $ 5 for a $ 4 slice? The money isn’t even the issue… it’s the attitude and general lack of attention to customer perception and overall satisfaction. Perfect example of service poorly executed.

Pizza was like warm coming to the table, after 20 minute wait the wrong pizza was made and brought out. Offered to fix it but we were hangry. Ended up with a free pizza.

Stopped in for some food before a hockey game. The overall experience was just ok. The hostesses didn’t seem to communicate well with each other, our server was a bit scattered, the food wasn’t horrible, and the last person to order in our large party was the first to receive their food. Conversely, the first to arrive, by more than an 40 minutes than the last, was the last to receive their food. Food was served to the wrong people too… It just seemed a bit too chaotic for a restaurant in that location and the food was just so-so. I would also advise you to just stick with beer.

So it may not be the best pizza you’ll ever eat, but it’s good, it’s quick, and it’s hella cheap! Jumbo slices for a few bucks. It’s a great way to prevent(or cure) a hangover!

It’s just not good. Hate leaving a negative comment, when our waitress was so kind and totally earned her tip. The location is excellent, the restaurant atmosphere is pretty cool and seems like a great gathering place. However… it’s just not good. At all. I have three kids that devour pizza like nothing else, and after one slice of this bland, tasteless pizza they were done. It looks normal enough, but there is absolutely nothing unique or special about this pizza pie. The food is seriously overpriced. $ 19.95 for a large cheese pizza? That’s crazy. If someone with any pizza-sense ever takes over this location, it could be dynamite just on location and atmosphere alone!

Good thin crust pizza. Great location and we had a very friendly server. My friend had meatballs and said they were delicious. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a NY style slice around Broadway.

Food was good but service was really shitty at the end of the night when they practically shoved us out the door and made us feel awful for being there at closing.

I don’t understand the hate for this place. The pizzas were good, and the ambiance was quite interesting. I felt like I was in an old Jewish deli in New York. Vegetarians have a couple of choices, and they were willing to make half the pizza one style. Beer selection leaves much to desire for, but it wasn’t too bad.

One lone star– because the ambiance was cool. Waitress was short(and I don’t mean height wise) and very unhappy. Asked her how the chic parm was and added– we are from NJ, and she wasn’t amused. Assured us it was good.(I realize how foolish to take the opinion of a Nashville girl on Italian food) The Italian dressing on the salad was terrific… I mean really. It was the best thing I ate here. He ordered the chicken parm and it was fair at best. I make a better chicken parm in my sleep. Too thick, too dry, the cheese was a deli slice melted. Meh. I got the Caprese salad. Awful just awful. The cheese tasted something like a tofu cheese substitute. Nothing like Motzerella… NOTHING. No need to discuss the bland tomatoes or the brown ‘balsamic’ dressing since the cheese IS Caprese. Finally we ordered cheesy garlic bread. There was dry Kroger Italian bread with bleck cheese and perhaps it was smoked paprika? Since something smelled like smoked and not like garlic or cheese. Awful! I will NOT go back here… EVER.

The pizza is okay — nothing special. They also got my order wrong(I do kind of understand since it was a super busy at the bar… but still a knick against customer service). It was basically a level below Mellow Mushroom. I mean if you were drunk downtown, this could be a great hangover food, but trust me, there are better pizza and food spots in town.

Great location Downtown! Very loud atmosphere there’s a TV in every booth ours was tuned to cartoons and we had to ask twice to get it changed :( Pizza lacked toppings I think I counted 3 Italian sausages on my half of pizza. Service was up and down when we needed napkins our server had disappeared. When we were ready to leave we had to flag her down again. Good place to go if you want quick eats before a Downtown event

I’ll start off giving one star for being open late after a concert, another star for a kick ass DJ spinning good tunes and a third star for shaker cheese, red pepper flakes and salt to mask the taste of the worlds worst pizza one can eat. Sadly there isn’t enough salt to hide the tasteless frozen-like cardboard tasting umtum sauce. The shaker cheese might have been a perfect addition if it wasn’t cheap fake ass shaker cheese and the pepper flakes were window dressing that never changed the thin crusted saltine like thickness of skin on a bullied high school teen. I knew what I was getting into because I read Unilocal but needed someplace to eat in spite of the lousy stars and reviews. They lose one of the three for serving a Meat Lovers pizza that couldn’t even satisfy an Ethiopian vegetarian.(Down to two stars at this point in the review). They lose another of the stars with the help situation. Waiter never came back to check on us because I’m sure he didn’t want to hear how lousy and skimpy our medium Meat“less” Lovers pizza. Don’t pay the price(overpriced for the Kroger, stop and shop, Meyer or Walmart 10 for $ 10 frozen pizza specials) but instead find a sausage cart if you’re desperate like we were.

Good atmosphere and fast service. We were seated quick and our waitress did a great job. We ordered cheesy garlic bread. Hmmm how do you mess that up. Then we ordered the City Special Pizza. No taste on either item. It was very very very plain. Nothing special about this place. Luigi’s probably gets a lot of tourist traffic and one time visitors. I would assume they don’t get a lot of second visits from people. We tried to enjoy it, and make the best of it. In conclusion the food wasn’t bad per say. But it was not at all good. May as well have stayed home and had dry toast or rice cakes. About the same amount of flavor.

5 starts for the service — 1 star for food, makes an average of 3, right? Good. Go there if you don’t have any better place where to go, but don;t be afraid of going there, there are much worse place you could end up going.

My favorite thing about this place is that since it’s off the beaten path, you are more likely to get seated quicker than the places on the strip. We ordered a pretty simple pizza and a cocoa porter. They both came quickly and the staff was friendly. The pizza was tasty and hot.
