Barry’s Bootcamp

Great workout, fast paced, always moving — and it goes by fast honestly. Josh, Antonio, Devin, Chase — all teach great classes. Matt is good too and his personality is awesome — he has amazing energy! I would take these classes more often, but they are too pricey … Wish it wasn’t the case because it’s an intense, yet fun workout that I would love to do more often. When I can I take about one a week … My favorite days are Legs/​Lower Body and Abs Day.

I’m loving Barry’s bootcamp so far I taken about 6 classes there since ⁹⁄₁₄ and get a really good workout in every time burning at least 400 calories. My favorite trainers so far are Chase and Antonio they have great energy but Devin and Josh will give it to you straight your workout will be intense! Chase and Antonio are intense as well just better energy. Either way I would recommend this gym!

I went in for my first class last night. The workout was great, and the instructor Matt was awesome. However, the blonde girl working at the front desk (I don’t know her name) was so rude and unwelcoming. You would think a gym would go out of their way to be polite to all of their patrons, especially first-​timers.

Barry’s kicked my ass (in the best possible way). I let myself get way out of shape and it was really pathetic. I was a little nervous about going to a class called «Bootcamp» but reading all the FAQ’s and information on their website answered all my questions before I got there.
The first two classes had me really really sore afterwards (like can’t move from the couch sore) but after a couple more classes I was able to go to a class almost everyday. The instructors are helpful and upbeat. They will push you without making you feel bad if you can’t do everything perfectly or at the top level.
I really LOVE these classes. They are the perfect balance of cardio and weights. Designed to change your body. I always feel great after a workout, even if I am drenched in sweat.
I am moving to Atlanta next month and REALLY need them to put a Barry’s there.

I’ve lived on top of Barry’s for over two years now and I have never trained there once.
I work out all the time but whenever I’ve tried to get any information from anyone there, they always tell me they can’t help me.
The last time I was in there at the one in the Gulch, a guy at the bar told me to go talk to the woman, and the woman told me she only checks people in and she gave me an email address, to email the manager who never responded back to my email.
Guess I’ll look elsewhere, just sucks when I live right on top of it.

BBC can seriously improve your quality of life. If you dedicate a lot of your energy to work and other commitments and have little time or energy to even make decisions about where, when, and how to work out, BBC is the place for you.
With BBC Nashville, all you have to do is make sure you use enough activation energy to show up. Once you’re there, Josh, Megan, Antonio, Devin, and the other trainers will guide you through the workout! Just do your best to follow their directions for an hour, and you will use all your energy to get the best workout you can. You can show up to BBC, spend just one hour of your day there, and leave knowing you’re doing what your body needs to stay healthy.
Physically, you leave feeling exhausted and you will feel sore the next day (s). Mentally, you will leave having spent a full hour with no energy to worry about work or anything else, and you will sleep much better at night (from exhaustion!).
BBC has helped me to realize that fitness isn’t about running away from being fat but running toward constant refinement of my physical and mental self. Antonio and all the trainers are very kind and welcoming to everyone!
Despite advertising and initial impressions, BBC isn’t a place only for models and athletes to work out; it’s for everyone with all our imperfections and strengths!
A final note — BBC is extremely convenient. You can purchase classes and go at any time/​day, so those of us with busy schedules don’t have to worry about committing to the exact same time each week. Mix it up and enjoy!

Barry’s is awesome! Instructors are really nice and energetic, Antonio’s the best! I really like the Wednesday Chest & Back class. Very clean, showers, and great products. Do not need a lock for the lockers, super easy. Playlist is great too.

I’m so obsessed with and addicted to all things Barry’s Bootcamp. I don’t live in Nashville but am here for work regularly. The banana nut milkshake is great after a workout. I usually go to Eve’s classes and she seriously kicks my butt. The next city I move to has to have a Barry’s.

I just got back into working out and so I was a little worried after reading some reviews that I could actually make it through a class without embarrassing myself.
I messaged Devin on Facebook and he reassured me that I’d be okay, he even offered to cover my first class! That made me feel so much better and not to mention I felt like the trainers already cared before I even gave them my business.
Wonderful. Best workout of my life and I will definitely be back for more. Thank you Devin!!!

Great mix of cardio and weights with high energy!

This is not for the amateurs. I consider myself to be in pretty good shape and these classes kick my butt. This is an incredibly intense 1 hour workout. You spend half the time running and sprinting and climbing and walking backwards on the treadmills (you will love/​hate «dynamic mode») and the other half doing core, legs, arms with various weights, bands, etc until the point of exhaustion. 3 – 4 times a week is probably all most of us mortals can handle. The locker rooms are clean and have showers which you will definitely need if you plan on going anywhere afterwards because you will sweat a lot (they turn on heat lamps when the class starts to elevate the temperature). The instructors are knowledgeable and motivating with good music. If you like it, the best deal is to buy the packages. Plan your visits to make sure you are working different body parts and having different instructors. This is just as good as having a personal trainer at a fraction of the price.

These classes are just what I need to wake my muscles! I have been exercising regularly for several years but I felt like my body had reached a plateau. Not anymore! I can literally feel my body responding to the HIIT training by tightening up further. This works like nothing else I’ve tried!

Best work out I have ever been part of.
One hour of intense exercise actually maximises your time working out… no more 2 hour visits to the gym… and actually only working out for 30 minutes… Barry’s is a solid 1 hour work out with fantastic qualified instructors who make the whole «class» feel like you have a personal trainer pushing you to do your best.
As some one who doesn’t like to work out. this form of exercise has got me going 4 times a week!
The other great benefit of Barry’s is its a fantastic way to meet new people from all walk of life and the staff at #BBCNashville all make this one of the most enjoyable work outs in #Nashville!!!

Barry’s Bootcamp will kick your ass. If you are serious about amping up your workout, this is your spot. Move past the model pictures on the wall and the loud music. Challenge yourself. Trainers here are great. Facility is nice and there is plenty of parking. I hit the early morning classes 3X a week. Commit and you will see results. And, quit whining. It’s all about what you are willing to do for yourself. Barry’s will help you get there! I’m a fan. And, did I mention, I’m almost 47 years old? Get after it…

Fantastic workout. You will be pushed past what you would normally do by yourself. This place is addictive. You will never have same workout and always leave drenched.

Yup, its a teeny bit cheesy. You ‘enlist’ for a class and the rockin’ roll club atmosphere on the inside is complemented by some sweet camouflage paint work. The half naked models/​instructors on the wall make you blush like a school girl (um, one of the chicks is making DUCK LIPS in her professional trainer photo, my girl Libby and I could not get over laughing at that) and the actual instructors will make you blush even harder.
Don’t worry though, all that embarrassment is not for nought, those pretty people WILL make you hurt all $ 22 worth.
I started class on the crazy posh woodway treadmill, I cannot stand tready’s but if I have to run on one, let it be this monster — seriously cushy. Then tried to escape staring at my sweaty @ $$ self by moving to floor work, but you can’t — the place is wall to wall mirrors (so you can compare your chub to all the super fit people?)
I run short distances and am no stranger to a spin class or yoga session, so I survived, but no lie — people did LEAVE, if you aren’t already in alright shape this might be too intense for you. There was some not-​so-​gentle encouragement, but our instructor never once pin pointed an individual to make you feel bad or anything.
The facility itself is pretty awesome. One-​time use coded lockers for your stuff, pretty locker rooms with face wash and fluffy great smelling towels. There is also a smoothie bar, but be forewarned if you eat super clean — I did see some store bought juices behind the bar, so I walked over to the Turnip Truck instead.
All in all, a really good fit for the location its in. The Gulch crowd should really enjoy it.

Holy (insert expletive here) Barry’s Bootcamp kicked my (insert another expletive here too)!!
I’ll stop ranting so this review doesn’t start resembling Mad Libs but no joke, if you have the inclination to whip yourself into shape, quit all the lame weightlifting and cardio that you’re attempting to do on your own. This class will ensure that your body pushed to it’s limits.
Barry’s Bootcamp recently opened in the ground floor of The Velocity building in The Gulch neighborhood and offers up stellar workouts in beautiful new space. I especially love the smoothie bar stocked with vegan rice protein! I enjoyed an Acai smoothie ($ 6) post bootcamp and am craving another one as we speak. The locker rooms are small but offer up ample locker space, showers, and are stocked with delightful toiletries. Nice touch. Beat me up and then love me with posh lotions and bath products.
On to the workout:
I was lucky enough to attend a class led by the owner Antonio who also possesses more energy than is humanly possible. He was definitely motivating but there were certainly moments where I uttered death threats under my breath. You may ask was my Cardinals ball cap sitting so low on my face? I’ll tell you why… I WAS IN (insert expletive here) TEARS!
Trust me, *I can strut in 5 inch platforms while carrying 2 pony kegs and not wince in pain or weakness and Antonio transformed me into a pool of sweat and tears.
Between blasting calories through the not your average treadmill training to the brutal squats and repetitive weight lifting, Bootcamp ensures that no part of your physique is left out.
*I measure strength by height of heels and number of kegs — very scientific.

I’m being a little generous with my rating because I *think* that I’ll eventually like Barry’s a lot. But right now I hate it. A lot.
First thing you should know is that this place is hard core. Each class consists of time on a treadmill and time on the floor with weights. You may be thinking: why would I spend $ 20 to use a treadmill? Ohhhh you just wait and see! This is no regular run on the treadmill. We’re talking steep inclines, lots of sprinting, sideways running and more creative torture methods. The weight portions are pretty standard except you’re coupled over dying from the run you just did so of course it’s harder!
Now, I am by no means a runner. In fact, I absolutely 100% hate running. But I’m no stranger to intense cardio. That being said even their beginner’s pace is killing me. We’re talkin’ my face is still bright pink almost an hour after class! I guess I must be a masochist because I bought 30 sessions just to ensure I’d keep going. If there’s one thing I hate more than running it’s losing money.
The only thing that rubs me the wrong way is that their marketing is clearly effective. They’ve done a great job acting like a bad ass place where only hot people want to go. All the people in class are already fit, svelte, and good looking. And it seems like the instructors are trying a little too hard to be «hard core.» But maybe I’m the only one who’d like an occasional encouragement with «YOU CAN DO IT!» instead of «WHATEVER YOU DO DON’T SLOW DOWN»? They clearly do not believe in positive reinforcement at Barry’s Boot Camp!

All that being said I’d encourage you to try out a class. You’ll get a killer workout and you’ll be glad you did! Now please don’t make fun of me if you see me in class and I look like I’m about to keel over.
