Really excellent salon. Reasonable price for what you get. Shannon was my hair stylist. Highly recommend her and the salon.

Horrendous. I went in with a picture of the hair color I wanted. I had (professionally) dyed red hair and I wanted to go grey. Ally told me that it would take more than one session because she would need to tone the color today, yada yada yada, and then dye it the grey two weeks later. I agreed to this even though the price was going to be over $ 500 total.
Fast forward into my appointment– Ally toned my hair and bleached it repeatedly; however, she stated she could not get my red color out. What I ended up with was a blonde/​red/​grey botch-​job on my head.
I was then instructed to just pick a color so we could cover it all up. I picked medium to dark brown. To think that I paid so much money ($ 200 including cut and tip) and FIVE AND A HALF HOURS of my life just to have my hair dyed brown (which I could have done myself) is appalling.
It doesn’t end there. Only one week after my color– despite using color safe shampoo, my color has now faded to light brown. I’m guessing she used temporary color. And my hair feels like straw. This stylist had no idea what she was doing. You couldn’t pay me to return to this salon.

The way I came across Zazu was very random, but I’m grateful that I did. I had a family photo shoot which was going to take place in Downtown Naperville. I use to go to a salon in Schaumburg, however, it became to far so I was looking for something closer were I can go in, get a quick blow dry and style for the afternoon photo shoot. I probably had called every salon in Downtown Naperville to see who can accommodate me, as well as, be reasonable in price. No other place besides Zazu’s came to my rescue. I asked the front reception (who were very friendly and polite) who I can see within my budget and time. Chantel was who was available and let me tell you — she is amazing! She did an excellent job. I went in looking for a blow dry and style, and ended back out with a haircut and style. She sold me the minute she cut my bangs (PERFECT). She knows what’s she is doing and goes off what looks good and not only what’s in style.
The ambiance is wonderful and very chic. Something different and looks perfect being in downtown Naperville. Along with great service and quality of work, it’s very convenient for those who live in Naperville, Warrenville, Lisle neighborhood. As another client for Zazu’s mentioned in there review, nothing like the little extra touches, for instance making us comfortable before our hair cut, offering bottled water, hanging our jackets and purses up for us, makes a day at the salon relaxing and wanting us to go back again.

Gabi is hands down the greatest stylist ever. I have long, fine, wavy hair that no one else has been able to cut so perfectly before. If you’re seeking someone with the magic touch for soft, flowing layers with body that won’t make your fine hair look thinner, go to Gabi. I also recommend her balayage highlights! Color is EXPENSIVE here but it’s worth the money. The salon is also beautiful and easy to find and I love the music they play.

Someone gave me a gift certificate so I wanted to try the salon. I live up north so I drove 45 minutes in pouring rain to get to my pedicure appointment. Someone had called me the night before to confirm my appointment. When I arrived I was informed that the girl doing the pedicure no longer worked there and that I was told they had to cancel. I informed them that I was told the exact opposite just the day before. Horrible customer service and experience. I will never go back gift certificate or not!

I went to the salon about 4 months ago but did not post a review until now, sorry! The prices are a bit high, but the service provided was quite good. Chelsea I believe was the name of the lady who worked on my hair. I heard she did a good job with layering so I went to see her for that reason. I hope to have a good experience at the Chicago location for 2015 NYE celebration.

I’ve been coming to Zazu for about 8 years now. I’ve had numerous stylists and can honestly say I’ve never had a bad cut or color. I usually come in with a picture of what I want and they’re able to do just that! I’ve even had a couple stylists who have suggested modifications based on my hair texture and face shape — much appreciated and always turned out great! I mean, they are the experts right? :)
This salon is chic and convenient. I love that it’s located right downtown Naperville. They always offer me a beverage or magazine before starting on my hair. Nothing like the little extra touches that make a day at the salon relaxing (especially the head massage while your hair is being washed)!
I used to make my appointments on Sundays with a junior stylist that’s available because it’s half the price. Plus, I didn’t have a specific stylist I saw regularly anyway… until recently! Schedule with Chantel — she is amazing! She did an excellent job on my cut and color. I went from a boring brunette no layered long cut, to a highlighted blonde layered beauty! It’s also pretty cool that she has an ipad at her station with a slideshow of images of all the styles she’s done! Love seeing that — great for future ideas!

Great salon. I am always welcomed with superior service. I’ve worked with several stylists at Zazu and all were beyond wonderful. Highly recommend this place!

I was ready for a change of stylist and thought I’d try out Zazu and I definitely do not regret it! The receptionist asked me a few questions about my price point and style and decided that Michele would be my best fit.
Michele gave a great consultation to figure out what I was looking for. This is so important to me because my wavy hair doesn’t always «behave.» I asked a lot of questions about the cut/​styling/​styling products etc. And she happily answered all of them. The most important part is I love my cut! It is exactly what I’m looking for!
Looking forward to visiting Michele again and again! A great experience all around.

After coming to this salon for 7 years, I received an awful haircut and color. With that being said, I am more angry about the service, or lack thereof, that I received after the fact. I got the color before Christmas and waited to call until the holidays passed. I spoke to the receptionist, Jamie, who (with an attitude) told me that he would speak to management and get back to me to let me know if it was even possible for them to «help» me after the horrific color/​cut I had. He never even got back to me!
My color is simple. I have dirty blonde hair and usually get a partial foil. The color was about 2 inches from my scalp meaning it is impossible to pull my hair back without looking ridiculous. The beginning color of each foiled piece is ridiculously brassy and just horrible. I have received better color at Colorific.
For nearly $ 200 after tip, I would expect better customer service. I have never complained before. To be treated with an attitude and not even given the common courtesy of a callback after I was told I would get one is unacceptable. I will be taking my business elsewhere and no longer recommending anyone to this salon. The joke is on them anyway because I am disputing the charges with my credit card and will have the money returned to me. A little customer service would have gone a long way.

My wife and I have been going to Zazu in Naperville for the last several years and are completely satisfied with our experience. Nicole is a talented and personable stylist. We highly recommend her. Jane at the front desk makes us feel like part of the family. At Zazu, you get the talent and style without the pretentiousness of many other high-​end salons.

WARNING: I got the worst hair cut of my entire 30 years of life here in May, 2008. I will never forget it because I cried so hard and the hair cut took two years to grow out. I came in with long hair and asked for a simple trim. The stylist seemed totally normal and had long hair herself so I thought I had nothing to worry about. She started cutting into my hair these very short layers, about one inch from my scalp!!! I asked if she could explain what she was doing and I will never forget what she said. She said, «I’m texturizing the s!&@? out of it (my hair).» I was shocked. I couldn’t believe a hair stylist would actually swear at a customer. You can’t make this up! I asked for my money back and I would never go here again. Be forewarned. Save your hair and do not go here. If I could give it negative stars I would. Thank goodness I was able to go back to my old stylist who was able to fix the disaster that zazu did to my hair.

Just a quick update to this salon – I agree with other reviews that this salon has undergone a management shift and it is TOTALLY not working for them at all. Prices are higher, and almost all of the talented stylists I know have since moved on to bigger, better things – My sweet Brynn included! I still have her info though! If you ever need a great stylist, feel free to message me.

Just a quick update to let you know there seems to have been a weird shift in management since my last review, and I feel the salon has suffered as a result.
There have been a few price increases some of their hair services, which isn’t too much of an issue. Industry increases are standard, but service in general has changed quite a bit in my opinion. There’s been a high turnover in stylists, I hardly recognize anyone any more. And the stylists who are still there seem a little less seasoned and they also seem to have been directed to do a lot more up-​selling than I’ve experienced at Zazu in the past.
While I appreciate being made aware of the latest products and services and techniques, when it seems every other minute the conversation is directed into an up-​sell, it makes what should be a relaxing ritual extremely awkward and uncomfortable.

This place is chic and in an amazing location. Grew up in Naperville so I love downtown Naperville! I highly recommend this place!

I had high expectations. All my neighbors raved about the place. I’ve been to some very nice salons with very skilled stylists and colorists in multiple cities. And this was just ok. I don’t want to pay $ 200 for ok. They seemed to translate high-​end salon into a lot of people running around and handing you off to one another. I inquired if they had anyone to do kids cuts and was told a kids cut is $ 50. Seriously? Zazu, you just aren’t that good.

I want to really like this salon. It’s easy to find, the environment is great, and the customer service is always spot on BUT it’s a bit pricey. I’ve never had to wait, and the front desk staff is missing that whole snobby salon bit.
I’ve had a few different stylists, and I’m still looking for the right one, but I get okay haircuts, and I’m pleased so far.
The waxing services are a bit pricey, and I’d rather go to Aloha Waxing for that. :)
Edit: After this review, I went back one last time with a different stylist at a higher price tier to try to get a haircut that I really liked and find a stylist that fit with me. Unfortunately, it was another failure. My bangs were way longer on one side, and I specifically said that I don’t like curls or waves in my hair, and she used a hairdryer to «straighten» my hair, and it was curled under. Not a big deal, but if you’re going to pay $ 40+ for a haircut, the least they could is listen to you. I had to go home and straighten my own hair and fix my own bangs. I will not be returning.

Just moved to the burbs and was looking for a nail place that does
«no chip manicures» and zazu’s has it. Samara was my tech and was so nice. My nails are a week old and are still looking terrific. I will def be going back. Alittle pricey at $ 52.00 but well worth it.

I really like the salon because of the conveniece and services offered. My favorite stylist right now is Brynn, who not only does a great job cutting the hair, she also did a great foiling job for me.
Everyone I’ve met is just wonderful and does their very best to make the customer experience the best it can be. It’s a lovely, quaint location, with enough space to not feel crowded. They carry goldwell hair products as well as other brands and styling gear (brushes, flat irons, etc.)
I had come here ages ago when I needed a style and makeup for my wedding, and although I was not too pleased with them at that time, my new, more recent experiences have more than made up for it.
