Wonderful place for high-quality chocolate(and other) treats. This not cheap candy, but more of an experience with really good treats, most of which are chocolate. I was a little disappointed yesterday that there was no German Chocolate cake on the menu, nor did they have raspberry cheesecake(one of my wife’s favorites). How can a chocolate shop not have German Chocolate cake? Anyway, we «made do» with Death by Chocolate cake for me(it was incredibly rich, moist and delicious), and Black Forest Cheesecake for my wife. Our daughter enjoyed an English Toffee Cheesecake. The cheesecake at Le Chocolat is different from Eli’s or any other cheesecake I’ve ever had… It’s incredible, rich and does not leave the back-of –the-throat strange feeling that others do. I’m not a cheesecake fan, but this stuff is good! Not sure what they do to make it this good, but I hope they never change the recipe. This place is special and really fits into the Naperville community.

Nice after dinner place for a sweet drink and sweet dessert. Seating can be limited and the fondue seems a mystery offering of either«don’t have it» or «must preorder it». All the candy offerings are delicious and the caramels are so generously sized they could choke a horse-so be cautious with little ones. Chocolate drinks are very delicious and numerous.

I will preface this by saying that the cake was amazing. I got the Death By Chocolate cake, and it was delicious. With that being said, the service was subpar. We were initially brought pieces of cake that were less than half of the size of the usual size. They told us that this was all they had left of that particular cake, but we would still be charged full price. On top of that, my girlfriend got a Choctail, but it was in a smaller, different glass than others who ordered Choctails.

This place is awesome! Its kinda pricey but worth it… good service and a great selection of amazing goodies! I love bringing people here who are visiting from out of town as this is a great stop while doing a walking tour of Naperville!

1⁄2016 Update: Mmm… chocolate mousse cake! I wish there was just a bit more mousse between the layers. But the cake is rich and decadent… nothing like your boxed cake mix, and I’m so glad about that! Also took a bite of an English toffee something or another(supposedly they make it in-house) and that was good. My only advice — please make homemade whipped cream!!! The aerosol cans from jewel sitting out on the counter DONOT belong there! You can do so much better.

Le Chocolat has always been one of my favorite dessert spots — can’t leave downtown Naperville without making a stop. They get three stars for delicious desserts and drinks, and beautiful décor. Unfortunately, I’d knock off a few stars for their event services. A few years ago, I held a private event — bridal shower — at Le Chocolat. The décor was beautiful, the setup was great, the event planner even offered to remove some of the Christmas decorations for us as to not throw off our«theme» in the photos. They set up an amazing and delicious dessert table for us. Unfortunately, I had made it clear to Denise prior to the event when I met with her and over the phone that we had some strict dietary restrictions — absolutely no pork in any of our meals. On the day of the event, we discovered that multiple foods that were provided contained pork. We were provided with some additional desserts at the end of the event. I really wish I could give a higher rating to Le Chocolat, but I was extremely disappointed with the way certain things were handled for my event. I’ll still be back in for my dessert bars and hot chocolate, though.

La chocalate is a cute sweet place on the Wasthington street. I went to the wrong door when I was looking for none Startbucks coffee shop to get some afternoon hot drinks after a nice lunch on a cold winter day. The sweet side of the shop was too tempting to me. I definitely needed to stay away from the Chocolate. The coffee shop side is so cute with those round tabled and iron chairs. I really needed help to get the hot chocolate for myself. I don’t like the over sweetened hot choclate but love dark chocolate. So the nice ladies recommended dark decendance which really fit into my expectation. Warm smooth with some typical tarty dark cholocate taste. Loved this option. There are lots of cute Christmas cookies and candies. Definitely will come back and get some.

Got another«compliment» from the party coordinator, or whatever she is. She expressed regret that I was«disappointed,» and bragged that the petite parties are booking like crazy, and I should give them another try. I suppose recognizing the fact that I was«disappointed» was a step up from ONLY addressing the fact I mentioned the wrong cakes in my original review. I think the word«outraged» would be more appropriate than«disappointed,» but hey, what do I know? Also, the tag line for the compliment was«You’re funny,» which I assume is her passive-aggressive way of addressing my review? The only thing«funny» was her absolute refusal to address the fact that I was outraged by the unprofessionalism demonstrated by their stuck-up chocolate shop. And no, I’m not over it; I don’t care if you think I should be. So thanks for the compliment, Diana! Right back ‘atcha!

Absolutely beautiful décor and ambiance. So So many choices of chocolate, cakes, cupcakes, macarons, etc. Also, attached is a sweet coffee shop with fru-fru coffee and hot chocolate drinks. The place looks divine but to spend over $ 4.00 per truffle or $ 7.00 for a slice of cake, I was expecting them to be the best on earth. You’re definitely paying for the high end Naperville experience.

This shop is so charming(and honestly a bit pricey) that my husband and I wanted to «save it» for a special occasion! Well, what better occasion to sample decadent treats than Halloween Night? We made last Halloween a night to remember by beginning at Le Chocolat du Bouchard and ending with a local walking ghost tour! For our Halloween masterpiece feast, we ordered a gem-like mix of chocolates and truffles — all of which were beautiful, balanced, and scrumptious! We then took a table in the connecting café and selected a mini white-chocolate-and-macadamia caramel cheese cake and a foamy autumn-cinnamon hot cocoa to warm us up for the long walk ahead! We enjoyed EVERYTHING. Classic. Stylish. Rustic. Homey. And most importantly: Delicious. I definitely recommend Le Chocolat du Bouchard for a special date or holiday! The prices ARE worth it.

I was walking around downtown Naperville on a chilly night and thought this would be a great place for a warm drink. I was handed a large menu as I walked up to the counter. I went with the malt hot chocolate – so good! The price is a little high but it was worth every penny! I decided to pick up a few chocolates from the other side… hard to walk in and not get a few things. :) There was only one girl behind the bar so it did take a while to order the chocolates. I was buying things for different people and she had no problem boxing them in separate boxes. The chocolates are a little pricey but it’s the perfect spot when you’re looking for a unique gift. I think I will stop in again for a hot beverage or a special gift.

It’s 9pm and you’re in the suburbs on a weekday. Le Chocolat du Bouchard would be ideal for dessert and chit chat. Six of us arrived on a Wednesday night and we were quickly seated. We ordered one slice of carrot cake for sharing in addition to a round of beverages. They do the courtesy of splitting your hot cocoa into two cups if you share with a friend. I gave the Mexicocoa a try and it was rather light. The cacao flavor was not blatant and the mix was a bit watery. The carrot cake was a heavy and generous slice. It was stacked with bits of carrots with a lot of frosting in between layers. We managed to slice it into six pieces for sharing.

We came here after reading an article naming Le Chocolat Bouchard as one of the best places to get hot chocolate in/around Chicago. Everything seemed pretty promising at first. We were able to get a table easily because it was a Sunday night. There were only maybe three tables, but I think there may have been some seating upstairs or elsewhere(I didn’t get the chance to look closely because we were seated so quickly after arriving). We each ordered a hot chocolate. I opted for the melted chocolate option, which came in a wine glass. I was really excited because there was an entire menu section dedicated only to hot chocolate. I disliked that we were served by a «waitress» and that there was a «tip» line on our receipt. With a space like this, it definitely would have been more appropriate to order at the counter. Our«waitress» only brought us the hot chocolate and the check. My hot chocolate arrived in a wine glass, which I definitely appreciated. What a cute touch. It was fairly rich to sip on, but I could tell it was made with water, diluting the taste. I suspect that the chocolate is also not as high of quality as some of the other chocolate I’ve had in Chicago. I had really high hopes for LCdB that it may dethrone some of my other favorite hot chocolates(like the ones from Mindy’s Hot Chocolate, Katherine Anne Confections, Bang Bang Pie, to name a few), but it did not. The people next to us ordered a huge slab of carrot cake that looked out of this world, so I think maybe Le Chocolat du Bouchard just isn’t a hot chocolate place. I’m sure the other sweets options(and the namesake chocolate) are all worth trying. Despite this less than positive experience with the hot chocolate, I’m optimistic and will probably be back at some point. Until then, I recommend LCdB stepping up their hot chocolate game. Don’t use water!

Maybe I’m spoiled because I’ve made it my mission to sample hot chocolate all over the city of Chicago. But I was honestly less than impressed with the hot chocolate I tried here. I decided to order the three dark chocolate hot chocolate option. The service was fine, although not at all personable. We didn’t have to wait long for our hot chocolate to arrive at the table. I was immediately disappointed upon taking my first sip. It turns out they make their hot chocolate with WATER. Seriously, water? It was reminiscent of Nestle hot chocolate powder mix made with water. Hot chocolate at home would have tasted better. The chocolate did seem like it was high quality, but it was also kind of hard to tell given the extremely watery consistency. I don’t think it’s just that I’ve been spoiled by spectacular hot chocolates in Chicago. Le Chocolat du Bouchard is seriously lacking. If I remember correctly, their entire menu of hot chocolate is made from water, not milk, sweet condensed milk, or cream, all of which would have made a better hot chocolate. The only reason I’m not giving one star is because I tried my girlfriend’s melted chocolate drink and, while I could still taste that it was made with water, it was significantly thicker and much more pleasing to sip on than my «dark chocolate» drink. There were a lot of delicious-looking sweets and pastries there, which we didn’t get the chance to sample. I would be open to coming by to try those, but I advise you to avoid Le Chocolat Bouchard like the plague if you’re looking for a good cup of hot chocolate.

I had a hot chocolate and carrot cake very delicious. My son had chocolate cake and white hot chocolate. The place is very nice and elegant. The servers take forever to bring a menu. Plus you need another while to get your deserts. The service I give them a star. The chocolates are very pretty and the pastries very delicious and cute

I would have to say this is my favorite place to get my chocolate binge on! This is a very classy and beautiful shop. It has 2 floors so you can sit in the main room or go upstairs in their loft area. Either way, this place makes you feel like you’re dining somewhere in France. They have a plethora of amazing chocolate choices. I have had their red velvet frozen hot chocolate, the frozen Mexican hot chocolate, their peanut butter frozen hot chocolate. All are on a scale of 1 – 10, an 11! Their DEATHBYCHOCOLATE cake is heavenly. Please please if you read this, TRY it! You won’t be disappointed. You’ll only be disappointed if you don’t like chocolate and if you don’t like chocolate, you don’t belong there. Anyways, another one of my favorites is there flourless chocolate cake. So good. Love their oversized chocolate chip cookie as well. They have another extension dedicated to chocolate candies, and cute trinkets. Again, it makes you feel like you’re in Paris or something. But in all seriousness, this place knows their chocolates.

We went here for dessert after dinner the other night. It was very busy even an hour before they closed. We put our names down and were seated in 20 min but I think we got lucky they were very slammed. The vibe was a little rushed with the staff, could tell they were kind of stressed out with all the people that kept walking in but it was a really nice night out so I’m sure there were more people walking around than usual. We walked around and saw the shop where they actually sell the desserts to bring home, very tempting! We ended up sitting right at the bar and got an ice cream pie and hot chocolate. Not kidding we were in a sugar coma after, so sweet but so good. Not something I’d eat every day but it was a very special treat and I’m sure we will be back again next time we have a sweet craving! It was a very quaint little place, people were dressed up, probably coming from nice dinners like we were. They sell merchandise too, mostly cute French decorations from what I saw. It was adorable.

(I gave this place 4 stars because the place is really small, their tables accommodate about 2 people, you’re elbow to elbow with your neighbors, and we had a what seemed to be a 15 yr old host who has yet to learn work ethics and good serving skills) This place is very impressive in the amount of variety they have. From their drink and sweets selections to their alcoholic choices— simply to die for! I don’t think there is a type of dessert this place didnt cover. They have macarons, brownies, cakes, chocolate, chocolates and more chocolat! They have a whole page of just hot chocolate choices. Another for Martinis, and lattes/cappuccinos. Skip dessert whichever restaurant you are at and head straight to Le Chocolat and get chocolat wasted!

I love«chocolate» but I’d prefer to say«J’adore le chocolat». I have had a well known love affair with France for many years. Even before the first time I vacationed in the South of France and before I rented that«hobbit» apartment with a rooftop balcony in the heart of Paris. Even at 5’2″, I kept banging my head on the beam above the bed whenever I sat up! Do I feel like I’m stepping into a Parisian Chocolatier when I enter Le Chocolat? No, not in the slightest. If you want that, take an 8 hr flight to Charles de Gaulle. But, I am stepping into gorgeous space with rich dark woods, wonderful smells, and most importantly, decadent flavors! Truthfully, IF I have the time, I’d much rather pass on the majority of the desserts offered at my favorite restaurants and head here to cap off my dinner. Whether it’s ice cream, cakes, hot chocolates or even non-chocolaty desserts such as carrot cake and lemon squares, these people know desserts! Waiting for a table is a slow process. Slooooooow. During colder months, it’s borderline awkward with such tight space, as you wait for a table. «Hmmm… do I look at the chocolates *again* or stare at people while they eat?» You grumble and groan a little… until you’re sitting in your seat with a rich decadent dessert being placed in front of you. Then the awkward wait is quickly forgotten, you are scraping the dessert from your plate and your only thoughts are«C’était délicieux et je n’ai plus faim!»(That was delicious and I am full!!”) Btw, beautifully packaged chocolates are piled everywhere. I’m always in need of gifts for neighbors or friends and gifts from Le Chocolat are always received with big smiles and big hugs. :) Sometimes, I’m even lucky enough to be the recipient of these gifts by thoughtful friends. Génial!
