We offer beginning lessons in guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele to people who want to have fun.

If you want to learn to play the banjo, guitar, mandolin or ukulele, this is the place. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we make learning to play music a good time. Our goal is to help players develop the skills to play in local area jam sessions or join one of ours. If you are tired of sitting on the sidelines or playing alone in your basement, give us a call to schedule a lesson.

Business Owner

The Prairie School was founded to provide music lessons to beginning students in banjo, guitar, mandolin and ukulele. Our objective is to provide our students with the basic skills that will enable them to join with others in informal jams. We offer group lessons that emphasize the fun of playing with others and private lessons for those who want to further develop their playing ability. We encourage students to form their own informal arrangements to play with other musicians.

Our instructors have years of playing and teaching experience as well as participation in area jams and festivals. We teach and play all forms of Americana, Bluegrass, Old Time or Roots music, including bluegrass, folk, country, blues, old standards, rock and roll.
