I am writing this review because I have struggled to find the right fit for my 3-year-old little girl, and the School of Performing Arts is finally it. We tried the Naperville Park District, and that was a bust because the teacher was anything but warm and fuzzy, which is an essential element for a timid little. Flash forward 6 months, and we moved onto Steps in Aurora for a trial class, which was fine, but I think their pricing is outrageous — the performance and costumes are mandatory, and the 3-year-olds have to buy two costumes at $ 135.00 each(really!). Also, the class is next to Toys R Us and just not in the nicest area; plus, that area is congested in general. The School of Performing Arts, however, allows for a paid trial class and the teacher(Ms. Taylor) was lovely and warm, and the kids had a blast hopping around and dancing just as 3-year-olds should. It is the parents’ choice if they want to enroll their child in the performances and the costumes are around $ 60. I am so glad to have found this place finally, and hope this review can save others from bouncing around as we did!

I don’t know how many courses and workshops I’ve enrolled in off the top of my head, but I’ve enjoyed them all, and I’m sure more registration is to come! The School of Performing Arts lies in a huge building that consists of independent businesses, apartments, restaurants, etc. They specialize in music, dance, theatre, and visual art. Every autumn, they put on a huge mainstage musical(ages 8 – 18) and I’ve been in two of them: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and Annie. I enrolled in my first course when I was about seven or eight. That was the start of my currently underdeveloped theatrical career. I’m only in the second quarter of my first dance class(tap), I’ve taken the improv(acting without a script, props, costumes, or preparation) course countless times, and I’ve registered for a lot of brief workshops there as well, and I’ve always been satisfied with the experience and educational benefit provided. I can’t speak for any of the musical lessons, because I haven’t taken any, but I often see people walking around the hallways with musical instruments, and it looks like a hit. So, aside from my humble boasting, I would highly recommend the School for those looking for artistic skill.
