Naperville Music

I had an excellent experience at Naperville music. I recently bought a brand new Yamaha piano and the rep was extremely professional throughout the entire process. I would recommend Naperville music to anyone.

I found this place because I was looking for a store that sold quality gear that wasn’t named Guitar Center.
I had gone to guitar center and was looking at a high end (to me at least) acoustic guitar. I found the one that I wanted but was trying other guitars. When this little 10 year old girl walks into the high end room and screams «This is the one I want, Daddy!» She swung the guitar I wanted so that it would crash onto the wall.
I was shocked, and horrified. Of course, the little girl left and the salesman said «so, is this the one you wanted?» I didn’t know what to say. Yes I wanted that guitar, but not actually that one that was slammed into the wall.
So I told him, I wanted it but wanted him to order me one from the company. This way I would have one that nobody hit against the wall. Need I say, «no can do»?
So I found Naperville Music. They have the most beautiful guitars on the market. I was quickly lusting over all of them. Most were out of my price range though. And the ones that were in my range didn’t feel the same as the one that was hit up against the wall.
So, I asked them if they could order me the guitar I saw. They said yes. I ordered, it came in and I watched them take it out of the box.
It is amazing.
Josh is the guy who helped me. He remembers me every time I come into the store, and asks about my guitar.
The last time I was in there was for a clinic where they were changing strings on Fenders. I brought my fender in they changed the strings for free (I wouldn’t pay for that, just thought it would be nice.) He said I heard it was your birthday a couple of months ago (he was right) and gave me a present of some cables for my pedals. It was like $ 30 worth of cables.
They are awesome. He found out I liked BB Kings guitar and they had one right out of the box that they had me play. I loved it, but now I can’t stop thinking about it. I might be back soon. :)

We recently purchased a digital piano, a Kawai CN34. We are very happy with this purchase. Naperville music had a nice selection to choose from and good prices. The delivery was free and quick — we received our piano the next day and the delivery guys even set it up for us. I highly recommend Naperville Music.

My son has been taking guitar lessons here for about a month now. So far, it’s been a great experience! He really likes his teacher (Mike) and is enjoying the lessons. He’s only 7 and is left handed. I like that Mike is able to keep the lessons engaging, can accommodate the lefty, and the «homework» is manageable and fun. As for the rest of the staff, we’ve had nothing but positive experiences. In fact, my husband and I have enjoyed my son’s learning experience so much, we also purchased a guitar and are learning to play as well!

I researched what kind of piano I should buy for my kids for over 6 months and finally decided on a digital. We bought one from a different shop and got the run around, saying it would take 4 – 6 weeks to get after being promised only 2 weeks. We cancelled our order and called Naperville Music.
Right away I was put in contact with Nate, who answered my many questions. In fact, in the space of an hour I called him 3 times, as I kept thinking of more questions. He was polite, knowledgable, and understanding about my confusion of which piano to get, and sent me an email within minutes of getting off the phone so I could look up more information online.
We decided to go in and take a look and were impressed with how friendly everyone was, and that there were many options to choose from in our price range. Unlike our first (canceled) order at the other store, Nate said we could get our piano the next day, delivered, and for free! The next day, right on time, the delivery guys brought in the piano, and set it up quickly.
One little extra – I really wanted a bench that opened so the kids could store their music in it. The piano we purchased (Kawai CN-​34) didn’t come with a bench that opened. Nate graciously worked with me to find a solution so I could get a bench that worked for us. A very positive experience from start to finish!

I can honestly say that my experience with Naperville Music exceeded my expectations. We had been looking at buying an acoustic piano to replace the digital piano we currently have. I have three kids in the house who play, so it was finally time to get them a real piano. I did a lot of research and we decided to see if we could afford to buy a new piano instead of used. We decided that we liked the Kawai K3 or K5. I approached the process of buying a new piano with trepidation. If you get on the piano blogs, the prices quoted varied widely. In addition, there were horror stories about up-​selling and lots of bad experiences.
I walked into Naperville Music a little bit nervous, but with a price in my mind that I thought was fair. Nate greeted me, asked what I was looking for, and went through the details of the pianos. He then actually talked me into staying with the K3 when I asked him about the K5. After I decided on the K3, the price he quoted me was right in-​line with what I thought was fair. It was a very smooth and enjoyable process.
We arranged delivery, and the piano movers came right on time. They were polite, careful and professional. My kids love the piano, and it sounds wonderful. As someone else mentioned in their review, we also received a nice note from Nate thanking us for our purchase.
In summary, if you are looking for an acoustic piano, I would highly recommend that you visit Naperville Music and ask for Nate.

Ryan was extremely helpful with the purchase of our new Kawai piano. He educated us on the differences in pianos. We originally came down to look at a different brand. So happy with the Kawai! The same piano here in Rockford was about 60% more. It was totally worth the drive! The delivery people were very professional.

I had been looking for a digital piano for about a year and visited several music stores. This store has a showroom devoted just to pianos. Nate took the time to show me the nuances of each of the digital pianos, played them for me (I’m a beginner), without any pressure. Needless to say, I bought a piano that day.
They were able to deliver it the next day, arrived when they said they would, set it up in minutes and I’m truly happy with my purchase.

I am not sure why other reviewers gave a bad review to naperville music, but I’m sure it’s just like any business, you have good sales and you might have some not-​so-​good. Anyway, I am just trying to speak about MY EXPERIENCE when I was shopping for my acoustic piano.
I called the store and spoke to Ryan a couple times. My first impression with Ryan was just okay. he wasn’t like a typical salesman that tried to ask you many questions… nor tried to have small talks. However, I called again as I knew exactly what I wanted and I wanted to know if they carried the inventory. so we started to talk more about the technical aspects of the piano that I liked and then Ryan was really helpful in explaining some of the details to me. It turned out he’s a piano technician and he just knows A LOT about pianos. So I went to the store the same day and bought the beautiful piano that’s currently sitting at my house. It’s a nicer/​higher model than the original model that I was going to get, and Ryan had worked out a good price for me. I just cannot be happier.
Oh i forgot to mention this — the store was supposed to close at 9pm and I couldn’t get to the store till 8:45pm. the store closed at 9 but Ryan let me stayed as I drove from so far away. he answered all my questions and he stayed late to let me played on it as long as I wanted. I was really happy with the piano and i put down the deposit that evening. i think I walked out the store at 10:15pm. Yes, Ryan was happy but I felt that he would still be professional if i didn’t walk out with a sales for him.
the remaining delivery process was veyr smooth. they hired the mover that also moves pianos for Chicago Symphony. the delivery was ON TIME and the movers were very careful when they moved the piano into my house.
Ryan also followed up with me with a personal letter as well as an email to thank you for my business. so i think this speaks for itself about their customer service.
I have stated all the FACTS and I think now you can make your own judgement :)

I have no idea why someone would give Naperville Music a bad review. They are good. Good, friendly service, good prices, good products. Have you seen the boutique room? They have some awesome guitars back there I may say … pssst: other reviewer (JM): You don’t give a little kid an expensive musical instrument! You give them the cheap stuff, and see if they are even interested in it 2 months later! I refuse to believe that this shop had poor quality products, and that they somehow mistreated you as a customer!

For help when you want to buy an instrument, get advice/​help from pros, or take lessons I’ve found this to be the best kept secret in Naperville. My experience extends back over 5 years — purchasing instruments and accessories, having repair work performed, and taking lessons. And best of all you’ll never find leather faced, tattooed guys blocking the aisles (sorry Guitar Center).

Naperville Music is a retail music store that specializes in guitars and amplifiers, but also offers rentals of band and orchestra instruments and music lessons. They attend some of the area school instrument days, where parents decide from which store they will rent their son or daughters band and orchestra instrument. They have the cheapest monthly rental rates… for a reason. The quality of their rental instruments is dismal. What most non-​musicians do not know, is that it is important to rent the best quality instrument you can possibly get so that your son/​daughter will have the easiest time learning to play, and actually enjoy the sound of the instrument. Also, parents need to consider if the equity they are building in rental credit can actually be applied to an instrument they would like to purchase. At least in the string-​instrument arena (i.e. orchestra instruments), even their highest tier instrument is poor. Look for a store that specializes in band and orchestra instruments. In terms of guitar equipment… go there to buy an amp, chords, strings, other accessories, but I personally would never buy an instrument there. They simply do not have the time/​expertise to set up the instrument correctly.
