Established in 2014.

Darrell’s 2, the little brother of the Manteo’s iconic Darrell’s, is now open for business at the Outer Banks Mall in Nags Head.

Darrell’s 2 features a slightly different look from its older sibling. For Nags Head, Daniels went for a more contemporary beach look while maintaining the nautical theme of the original.

A long, free-​standing table in the bar section can accommodate large groups.

In-​house diners will notice another change — a wide selection of craft brews and wines.

The beach location is also emphasizing BBQ offerings and most importantly, large carry-​out selections of BBQ, ribs and fried chicken for those wishing to dine in their rental homes without the fuss of preparing the meal. We also have a full menu offering traditional Outer Banks Seafood and Eastern North Carolina BBQ and Ribs that are hickory smoked on site.

Started the meal with fresh local oysters what a deal 6.99 for a dozen. I had the BBQ sandwich yummy! My husband ordered BBQ Ribs they had a delicious smoked flavor with sweet and spicy sauce. He also tried one of the local IPAs. We were too full for desert which was a chocolate layer cake. Next time I will save room for cake!!! Love the atmosphere and they had real Christmas tree!

It was overall good. But nothing outstanding. Got fried flounder, shrimp, coleslaw, fries and hush pups. not overly greasy. The fries didn’t taste too fresh though, and one of the shrimps smelled and tasted like a chemical. The hush pups are really good. The staff was pretty friendly. There weren’t many people in there and the waitress had to tell one guy that they ran out of whatever he ordered. Maybe it was an off night?

World’s pickiest eater right here, and Darrell’s took my complicated order without any complaints or sass! Ha! I ordered the chicken sandwich and got it grilled instead of fried, with none of the toppings that usually come on it. Then I decided to be even more difficult and ask for bacon and cheese. I was just really craving a bbq chicken sandwich from a local place. (I know I’m the worst customer ever) BUT the sandwich was perfect and I didn’t get charged $ 5 to add bacon and cheese to my order! I’ll definitely be back!

Came here while on vaca. Our party was 3 adults, 4 kids. Came on a Saturday around 1:30ish and the place was vacant. I had no problem with the service or cleanliness of the place. The food was not what I expected. I can’t speak for the others in our party really, but while my husband ordered a seafood combo plate which was apparently all fried; daughter had a burger; I ordered the 2-​piece fried chix with green beans and onion rings. Chicken was ok, not off the chart; green beans were obviously canned with EXTRA salt and onion rings were at least crispy and hot. It just seemed to me that (at least my) food was just foodservice junk and nothing was really fresh or prepared from scratch. The other kids in the party all had popcorn shrimp (fried) and fries (more fried). They were all under 10 so they were happy. Daughter did not say much about the burger. Granted I’m not a seafood nut and perhaps the fresh steamed seafood items were their specialty. Not excited to go here again.

Delicious BBQ at a great price. It’s the perfect place to eat in OBX. Clean and spacious décor greet you at the door. The Hickory smoked pork paired perfectly with the creamy cole slaw. Tender ribs and crispy fries were a favorite. Large portions mean leftovers. This NY family will surely be back for more next year!

Perfection!
Everything we had was delicious. From the appetiser peal and eat shrimp, to the grilled sea food plate. Best value was the clam chowder and the pulled pork kids meal.
We also had the ribs that came smothered in a sweet and spicy tomato based sauce.

ever been to KFC? ever wish you could pay 3x as much for KFC? I was expecting to have fresh homecooked food here judging by the price, instead we got KFC mashed potatoes and chicken, like they ran across the street and brought KFC to our table. Boiled ribs with bottled sauce poured in them… drowning in sauce. the staff made no effort to conceal their annoyance when we asked questions about the menu. overall just a pretty crappy experience.

I read the reviews saw it had 4.5 stars. Let’s try it. U uh what a disappointment. When I bbq, I take pride I n what I make. this was boiled ribs absolutely drenched in bbq sauce. I could not eat the second half of ribs. I can’t ever recall doing that in my life. First night of vacation ruined by dreadful meal. Only one happy was youngest who really liked her fries. Hope the rest of food around here better.

Great little place located in a strip mall like most of the undiscovered restaurants here in the OBX. Very attentive and friendly service, as it is a relatively small restaurant. I ordered the popcorn chicken meal with fries and mashed potatoes with gravy. Not the best shrimp I’ve ever had, but for the price I thought it was a great meal. Exceptionally good fries too! From the outside it looks relatively unappetizing, but as the old aphorism goes, never judge a book by its cover! Perhaps my favorite part of the visit to Darrell’s 2 was the ambience of the place and the environment as a whole. Our party of 8 included five children under 15 years old, and we were accommodated wonderfully. The place is decorated very well too. I felt as if was eating a meal at home at Darrell’s! A great place to have a meal with the whole family on a relatively low, vacation budget!

We ordered lunch to-​go from this restaurant and my half rack of ribs (I posted an image of it) was so delicious and tender! I’m usually not a huge fan of bbq sauces but theirs was perfect!!! Towards the end of my meal I was kicking myself for not ordering the FULL rack of ribs! My husband got the mahi mahi and pulled pork sandwich. He didn’t love the mahi mahi but said he would order from this restaurant again the next time we visit the OBX.

Absolute perfection!!!
My family and I came here for the first time and we got the ribs and chicken tenders and all I can say is WOW! The ribs were so tender they were falling off the bone. The fries were the best fries I’ve ever had! The breading on the chicken tenders was amazing and they were moist. The green beans and collards were just like Momma’s! And don’t get me started on the sweet tea– good Lord this place is as close to perfect food as you can get! Our server was so sweet and kind. We will definitely come back here again!

This really is Darrell’s 2.0. Anyone who loves Darrell’s (in Manteo) seafood and BBQ but can’t do the drive down there when they want has a new option! A second location was just opened in 2014 with the food that made Darrell’s famous, but some new options too.
