mehhhh. Food is OK. Nothing spectacular. But we eat breakfast there several times each summer.

Extremely clean for a restaurant! The Buffett looked to die for and everything was fresh! We were beyond pleased with our experience on their 2bd to last day!

Dinner on Halloween night was definitely not up to the high standards of breakfast here. We had the flounder and shrimp combination and the shrimp were just OK and the flounder was dry and tasteless. The baked potato was fresh and hot but the Cole slaw was below average. A big disappointment after so many great breakfast experiences.

Go here for a traditional breakfast, the dinners are only ok. The omlettes pancakes and biscuits are particularly good. We have not had the buffet(in season) but it always looks good. In season I suggest going early– before 9– since the tourists to roll in.

We were in Nags Head for the week on vacation. Woke up one morning and found this spot for breakfast. It was so good that we ended up having breakfast there the next day too! Waitstaff was polite. The food was tremendous. One of those every time you take a bite you gotta say«mmmmm» Biscuits and gravy is what makes this a 5 star for me. Like… better than your moms biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and super soft and fluffy and the gravy is thick and seasoned just right. My other half had the steak and eggs which was cooked just right too. The cooks aren’t scared to season their food. I say this is a defiant stop if you’re on vacation and looking for breakfast.

My wife and I had a great experience at The Dunes. Eating at Outer Banks can be tricky since my wife is allergic to seafood! However the executive chef of the restaurant and I communicated via email a week before and he assured they would prepare her food separate. Furthermore, he came and personally met us when we arrived at the restaurant. Great service from him! As far as the food, the hushpuppies are great. The spread for them are margarine, honey and brown sugar. I got the flounder and crab cake combo. The flounder was OK and the crab cake was very very good. My wife enjoyed chicken tenders. We would easily come back on a future trip to Nags Head!

Staff and waitress very friendly. Waitress gave us extra hush puppies. Kids attacked the first basket. Had some nice drinks and food was pretty good. Our waitress as I said was very friendly and just made our experience there so nice. Hope we get her again.

The food was good, the service took forever. No line, and tons of open tables but they made us wait 10 minutes. I recommend the crab/shrimp dip, and the crab cakes are also good! Overall good place but odd service!

Good solid seafood place. Our table of 11 had a great variety of meals. My only complaint is the price. I’m not completely convinced it is worth it.

So a 3.5 is accurate for this restaurant. We ordered steamed shrimp as an app. 10.99 $ for a pound of the most flavorless shrimp I’ve ever had. No seasoning, no lemon, no old bay. Simply watery shrimp. Server was friendly and attentive. Mahi fish tacos were awesome, but came with tortilla chips but no salsa of any kind… Which I found very odd. Crab legs were delicious. And hush puppies were out of this world!

Good restaurant. Family friendly. Came on a Monday night, they sat us immediately. Excellent hush puppies. Warm and sweet. Very good shrimp and crabmeat. Good fish tacos. Very fresh and generous portions. Excellent local beer menu. Friendly and attentive service. Also very cool gift shop. Full of local flare and artwork. Good place.

Came here for breakfast. It was incredible. I sat at the bar and the bartender was a wonderful woman. The omelet was so fresh and the toast was slathered in butter. so nom nom. They were pretty busy but the turn around time was quick so we didn’t wait long at all.

I’ll just start the show by saying I will most certainly eat here every time I come to Nags Head. We had to wait a few minutes, which is to be expected. We didn’t have to wait too long though. The waiting are is very aesthetically pleasing with several browsing options. The bar is close so if you want a pre dinner drink. not a problem. I noticed that the bar area does server what appeared to be a full menu option so that’s nice. Once seated the wait staff was prompt, engaging, and more than courteous. I really wish I could remember the name of the young lady who handled out table because she was extra ordinary. Quite possibly one of the best servers I have ever had. The food was fantastic. The hushpuppies here … Holy … hushpuppies. I could have eaten a bucket of them. Our waitress advised against though which is good because having to perform CPR on me could be traumatic for anyone. Now that I’m rambling I’ll close with this. Give these guys a chance. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

There are not enough stars to give this place. Our car keys got locked in the car but the staff was super friendly and let us use their phone for assistance. The food was outstanding. I had the NC seafood omelet lump crab was excellent but a bit disappointed with the baby popcorn type shrimp. Rest of the group got the buffet which was nice but limited in selection. Debbie was so busy but continued to apologize and did an outstanding job serving us and refilling our coffee and tea, etc. Highly recommend this place for their food and service. They are worth the waiting lines too :)

What a disappointment. Our family came here thinking that we were going to get high-quality food and it was much like a Western Sizzler. The food was nothing to write home about very bland really no taste.

Excellent breakfast! Now I have to check out the lunch and dinner menus! The buffet breakfast was tremendous! I’ll be back! Thanks to Unilocal for finding this gem of the Outer Banks! Wish they had a Dallas, TX location!

Cute interior. Friendly staff. Decided against breakfast bar for $ 10.99; not enough items unless you are heavily into fruit. Menu confusing because Dolphin and the Scrabble were the exact same items but $ 3.20 difference in price as far as we could tell; eggs, grits or hash browns, pancakes or toast or biscuits. Farmers omelet and Dolphin were tasty with plenty on the plate. Great service.
