History

Established in 1992.

Dr. Levin attended college at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, obtaining baccalaureate degrees in History and Biology, and received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. He subsequently served as resident and chief resident in ophthalmology at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, where he received specialty training in Ophthalmic Plastic and Orbital Surgery. He went on to complete the prestigious Ophthalmic Plastic Surgical Fellowship at Duke University. Before opening his private practice in Mountain View in l992, Dr. Levin was the first full-​time Director of Ophthalmic Plastic and Orbital Surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford. Since 1992, he has continued at Stanford as an Adjuvant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, and as Co-​Director of programs in Ophthalmic Plastic and Orbital Surgery.

Specializing in eyelid and laser surgery to help restore a youthful appearance, he has not only performed several thousand facial plastic surgical procedures, he teaches his craft to ophthalmologists, cosmetic surgeons, and residents as a faculty member at Stanford University and UC San Francisco. He also serves on the medical staffs at El Camino Hospital, Stanford Medical Center, and Mills-​Peninsula Hospital.

Short and sweet: one of the most honest plastic and skilled plastic surgeons out here. I trusted him with an upper eyelid blepharoplasty and he delivered. He could have sold me more but gave me an honest consultation and the result is natural. Loved the whole staff and recommend his skills and advice.

Funny — I thought maybe my experience was unique. I had a rather simple procedure to have done and needed to consult with him first. After the meeting I had to struggle with why I need to deal with him in the first place. Just because my optometrist referred me?! Nope…
He was a bit abrasive, a bit condescending, he baited me with the «do you have any concerns» question. Ok, well since you asked, I voiced the usual concerns any pre op patient would ask. He immediately said there is no responsibility on his behalf, and I really got the impression he couldn’t be bothered. (Beyond the usual legal posturing) His «bed side manner» was really off. Not a professional in my opinion.

I had a consultation with a different doctor. I really didn’t like they way they handled my consultation and billing. My ophthalmologist gave me another referral for Dr. Levin for entropion surgery. I wanted my surgery to be done by someone who was well known and had experience working on Asian eyes.
Consultation/​Pre-​op:
The consultation was very easy. I told him about the problems I have with my eye and what my ophthalmologist and I hope to accomplish with entropion surgery. Dr. Levin explained the procedure, told me what to expect and allowed me to ask questions. Eye things freak me out. Even after MANY years of having to do eye drops throughout the day, I still get bothered by eye drops. The entire office was very warm, welcoming and helpful. I had some issues with my insurance and I was in the middle of moving to TX. Cindra and Dr. Levin were understanding of my situation and very helpful. Jennifer and Dr. Levin were extremely nice. This was my first time getting surgery. They tried to comfort my nerves. They seemed like they really cared about me and wanted me to feel better. They took their time to make sure all my questions and concerns were addressed. The other doctor I saw made me feel like I was just another transaction. It makes a huge difference to have a caring team when you’re doing surgery.
Surgery/​Post-​op:
The surgery went smoothly. I thought I would be in a lot of pain after the surgery but I wasn’t. I was just swollen. I followed the post-​op instructions and everything was fine. It took me about a week to look normal but I was still very careful about not straining my eyes and staying out of the sun.
Overall, everything went smoothly and I had a great experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Levin and his staff.

I honestly cannot speak highly enough of Dr Levin and the practice. I was recently diagnosed with a melanoma on my eyelid and have just been through surgery to remove the lesion and reconstructive surgery with Dr Levin.
He has been kind, patient, sympathetic and probably most importantly there when I really needed him.
During the initial phase of discussion and understandable emotion, he maintained a very calm but realistic outlook and showed much compassion and understanding for the situation. I noted some other comments about his style — but although he can be a little quirky — I think this comes from his desire to be straight and honest and my overwhelming feeling is that he is so professional and genuinely seems to care about attaining the best possible results for the patient, but providing a realistic outlook.
Most recently, on a Sunday morning I had something bothering my eye and he responded to my call and opened up his office to help me! His concern was only with me and not with inconvenience to him.
I also have to say that the office team have been really caring and efficient in all of my interactions with them. Cindra has been fantastic at coordinating with other practices to make sure everything is scheduled efficiently and is a pleasure to deal with. Jennifer is caring and kind and delightful to see.
I would highly recommend and will keep you posted on the results following my recovery.

Dr. Levin fixed my eyes! I had asian double eyelid surgery and lower lid blepharoplasty with fat repositioning done on July 9th. It’s been eleven days, and I am absolutely thrilled with my results so far, both aesthetically and functionally.
Dr. Levin is very caring and knowledgeable. He specializes in eyelids, so I knew I was in good hands. I went in for the consultation suspecting I had ptosis, but he correctly diagnosed that the heaviness of my upper lids was mostly at fault, creating the same effect of not being able to open my lids all the way without raising my brows. I showed Dr. Levin a before-​after picture that I liked, and he really took note and made sure the result was what I wanted.
Jen and Cindra are very kind and they made sure I was cared for. I’m skeptical of the reviews that say otherwise — especially since all the bad reviews seem to be from people who only showed up once for consultation.
It has been very shocking in the happiest way possible to be able to open my eyes all the way without having to raise my brows to do so! I look so much more alert, especially since the lower lid fat repositioning completely eliminated the bags under my eyes.
I still have another set of (very thin) sutures in my eyelids I’m getting pulled out next Wednesday, so I know the results are only going to become more natural looking from now.
Week 6 Update: My creases are getting more natural every day, and scar is pink and fading. Tingling in my lower lids persisted for about a month before going away, but now they’re back to normal.

Dr. Levin is one of the best surgeon. The result of my blepharoplasty is excellent. He is honest, professional, and knowledgeable that is what I like about him. I also like his conservative surgery on my eyes to keep it still looking like Asian eyes. He is definitely looking out for his patients’ best interest and taking good care of me. It has been three months since my surgery. Amazing. I could not have imagined the excellent result. Dr Levin is a perfectionist. What could be better? Personable, professional and knowledgeable. Updating my review. It’s been a year since I had my lids done. I went in for a minor touch-​up to remove a little more skin and that went smoothly. Dr. Levin and his staff were very accommodating to the fact that I now live 60 miles away, and worked with my schedule as well as the office’s schedule. They proactively followed up the next day to make sure all is well. I really appreciate the staff’s kindness and friendliness.

I’m a super busy person and normal have no time posting a review, but my experience with Dr. Levin’s office was extremely awful and unacceptable, I feel compelled to post it here for others to be aware.
Unfortunately I agree with all the other negative comments posted here, I felt exactly the same, condescending and disrespectful, cold and unfriendly, arrogant and overbearing. It appeared that they didn’t care or want to listen to what we say, they only do what they want to do and what they can do. They’re not accommodating with the appointment and scheduling, they don’t care about the patients based on my experience.
Worst of all, I was treated so badly by the office staff Cindra, she was rude and disrespectful to me, she even hang up on me multiple times while I was talking to her regarding the treatment. It’s very shocking the way they treat people. Although I read the reviews prior to my visit and prepared myself with my expectations, I was so disappointed and felt insulted every time after the visit. Therefore I felt the urge to warn everyone, so you know who you are dealing with.
Had I have a choice, I would rate this place a Zero.

I have been referred to Dr. Levin twice because I have a rare condition (lack of tear ducts) Dr. Levin offers no resolution for my condition although the referring doctors thought he should be able to solve my problem. During the consultation Dr. Levin made strange conversation about unrelated matters but, never offered me a reasonable solution to my problem. I have read the other reviews and I agree with others that he does seem condescending and he doesn’t answer questions. It’s very unfortunate I was hopeful.

Dr. Levin was recommended to me by two different doctors, my ophthalmologist and family physician, even though they practice in a different part of the Bay area. Neither of these doctors is associated with Dr. Levin. An even better recommendation came from my own father, a retired physician in Phoenix, who looked at the very natural results and claimed, «This man is good!» I couldn’t be happier with the results and care that I received from the doctor and his staff. Dr. Levin is upfront about expectations, and only recommends what you really need.

A family member (older Asian male) had a lower blepharoplasty operation a year ago thanks to Dr. Levin, and as a result he looks younger and happier than he ever did even 40 years ago.
Dr. Levin and his staff are friendly, competent, and helpful, and Dr. Levin did everything possible to ensure that the patient was completely satisfied. We recommend both him and his office as the best of the best.
An operation on one’s eyes is scary, but these kind folks made the entire procedure and follow-​up perfect. Five stars isn’t enough!

I just had a blepharoplasty performed by dr. Levin and I am 100% happy with the procedure and the treatment I experienced in his clinic. Dr levin did a great job with my eyes and he was also very kind to me. Jennifer, his nurse, and Cindra, his office coordinator, were as nice and patient as he was. Although English is not my mother language, they were not tired of answering my questions and explaning everything in a very clear way. To cut the story short, go ahead and choose dr Levin’s clinic to have your eyelid fixed. You will be in great hands.

Dr. Levin and his nurse Jennifer and office mgr Cindra are a warm, caring and wonderful team.
I came for an evaluation of my eyelids and was impressed with Dr. Levin’s thoughtful and conservative approach. He insisted on a step by step approach instead of jumping into surgery. He was thorough in his evaluation of my eyes and patiently waited for when the time was right and my eye health improved before agreeing to proceed with surgery. I really appreciated his integrity, patience, and attention to detail. I especially appreciated having him tell me he wouldn’t operate on me until he was convinced my «dry eyes» had improved and referred me to a specialist for additional care before surgery.
Dr. Levin came highly recommended by three other area physicians, so I knew I was in competent and experienced hands. My surgery went well– it was relatively quick and painless and the results are phenomenal. I couldn’t be happier.
What I loved was the personal care I received in Dr Levin’s office. Dr. Levin, Jennifer and Cindra made me feel special and important, as if I was their most memorable patient.

I’ve had a problem with my right eye lid for over 5 years and finally went to my doctor and asked for help in finding a doctor that could deal with my problem. I was given Dr. Peter Levin name and called to make my appointment. From the time I walked into Dr. Levin’s office I was treated like I was their first customer. Dr. Levin told me I had Entropion in my right eye and surgery would correct this. With in a few weeks I went into surgery and an hour after my surgery I didn’t have the problem anymore.
Dr. Levin’s staff (Cindra and Jen) were outstanding and arranged everything for me and also follow ups. I just left their today and told Dr. Levin that all is great and he and his staff did an outstanding job of taking care of me and my problem.

Wow. all I can say is you should see my eyes. He is matter of fact and upfront about if he thinks you will or won’t benefit and why. He explains the good and the bad. I can tell you that when you need him, after the surgery, he answers his phone and makes sure you are doing well. They AREN’T sales people… they’re medical professionals. Isn’t that what you want in a doctor? Most importantly, why are you looking on Unilocal for medical professionals? Do what I did, talk to your family doctor, your eye doctor, and your dermatologist. Don’t be surprised if they all recommend Dr Levin. Mind did… I would prefer a doctor with skills in the surgery room over one with a great selling skills. Thank you, Dr. Levin. No one asks me why I’m so tired anymore.

In a round about way I am happy it was not just me who had a negative experience with the high & mighty Dr Levine. Too bad he’s allowed to stay in business treating people this way though. The main descriptives i’d use to describe his demeanur are condescending, un-​helpful, and high and mighty. He was cold and un-​friendly and did not want to answer any of my basic questions. He told me at least 3 times in response to questions I had how he’s been in business for 20 years as if that would answer my un-​related questions. I was ready to walk out, but didn’t and knew I would never go back within 5 min of talking to him. He has no business being in business!
NOTE: this is one of the first 1 star reviews I have ever given and I have no recollection of ever seeing a medical professional of this little caliber.
