O’Reilly Auto Parts

I was surprised at how surly the folks were here but then discovered they were rather inept as well. Was simply trying to drop off my brake rotors to get them turned. Waited alone while one gal answered phone calls at the counter and 4 guys were working or standing in the back area. Had to go and pester them in the back to get some service after waiting 10 minutes listening to the gal on the phone. The attitude was one of resentfulness that I even bothered them. Customer service is really lacking here and there is just a bad vibe in this place. I go to auto parts stores all the time (my favorite is Winchester Auto Parts) as I am your typical shade-​tree mechanic, but I will avoid this place in the future.

I’ve been in to buy stuff time to time over the last few months, and have been impressed with the staff that work there during the week. They are knowledgeable and willing to give advice and on problems I’ve encountered or products

Guy sold me a ford thunderbird battery when i specifically said PONTIAC FIREBIRD. Told him it was sidepost when he brought a toppost then he tells me someone mustve put a sidepost in my car by mistake. Took battery home compared them anyways went back and the next employee looked it up on the same cpu and tells me other guy looked up T-​bird. Then we did exchange. Get it together guys.

Everyone is very nice but unless you need car room fresheners, car wax or floor mats, it’s impossible to find parts here.
We had a big car project and it’s in a fairly convenient shopping center. I’ve been in a few times with a «shopping list» but haven’t been able to leave with anything except some new black floor mats.
I’m happy with the floor mats, but maybe the employees should offer to take a project list and bring in the parts for their customers. If I had an auto parts store, I’d ask about the project and look at the list of parts to complete that project. Then, I’d offer to put together a box of parts… just thinking…
I hope it wasn’t the puffy magenta flowers on my shoes that led them to direct me to the floor mats…

Place seems to be going down hill. Shelving empty, parts laying around. They need more help. To pay for my item I had to go to their back room parts area to find an employee.

I’m not at all mad that they couldn’t change my battery for me — my car is a Volvo and apparently it has a more difficult battery to replace.
However, I am disappointed that they told me to come in anyway (over the phone) and they would check it out and see if they could possibly change it. When I arrived I was greeted with a friendly hello, but after I told them I needed a battery installation for my Volvo they just said «Sorry» and I was like «oh well I was told to come in so they could physically inspect it». The man at the counter argued with me and told me it wasn’t him I spoke to on the phone.
I said, «okay well I’ll need a jump, since now my vehicle is probably dead again», and the two at the register were silent. No help whatsoever.
Where is the customer service at this place? So rude! I understand you can’t do something because its beyond your knowledge of vehicles, but at least apologize and offer a jump after you told me to come in.

Well I had a GREAT experience with an employee named Sal. Before that not so great. When I walked into the store, three employees standing around talking about the airplane crash earlier that day. I stood there patiently waiting. And waiting. Sal came up from the back of the store, and pleasantly asked, «May I help you?» He helped me pick out a set of wheel covers. I mentioned that I’d have to waiting until the next day to get America’s Tires to put them on for me, and right away he offered to put them on for me. He really did me a big favor and he is a definite asset to the company and the store. I give Sal 5 stars and the rest of the experience 2 stars. When I return, I will ask for Sal.

Really good customer service at this o’reilly location and Angel the assistant manager was really helpful and friendly. He offered to install my new windshield wipers and he did it quickly and super efficiently. Great!

When i have my automotive problems & feel like i can do it myself i go to O’reilly’s in Mountain View off of El Camino & talk to Rafael, Daniel & Adam. The best help ever from these guys. They are very knowledgeable. Thanks again to these guys for doing their jobs & making it look fun & easy at the same time.

It was raining hard and I was about to drive to Southern California.
Walked in to buy a windshield wiper. The cashier asked me the make/​model and walked me to the item, grabbed it and walked me to the register. A different service clerk asked which car was mine and installed the wiper for free before I even finished paying the cashier. I’ve NEVER been to an auto part store where they installed my purchase for me without me even having to ask (granted it was just a wiper).
Went outside and began to undo my tail light cover to replace my turn signal bulb (I’m kind of lazy and wait until I have to drive far to fix simple things on my car).
The clerk must have seen me fumbling in the rain, so he came out and asked if I was doing ok. I told him I was fine and I was putting in a bulb I purchased elsewhere and I was fine. Without hesitation he walked up and offered to do it for me for free. In the rain. Thank God, because it probably would have taken me 20 minutes to figure it out. :)
Fantastic experience that I’ve never had at an auto part store. I will be back!

I’m a huge fan of Auto Parts Stores.
I was able to pick out my wiper insert online, place my order, and got an e-​mail confirming that my wiper insert was ready for pick up!
Service was friendly by the parts guru! :D

Poor, poor customer service. And I’m not even that picky about service. This is probably the first one-​star review I’m giving for service.
At other auto parts stores, I walk in, tell whoever’s manning the counter the type of vehicle I have and what I need, they check it in the computer, and get me my stuff. So the staff is busy when I get here, no problem. I can look up the book and get my part myself. The problem starts when it’s time to pay, and it’s like they don’t want my money.
Tell a staff member walking past I want to pay, and he says he’s helping another customer, and walks out of sight into the back. I assume he’s serving Customer A standing at the counter, so I hang out and wait several minutes.
Other associate finishes up with Customer B, and she asks Customer A if he’s been served. He says he’s waiting, and he’s just here to drop off a battery. She says just drop it off, no need to wait. Hang on, so who was the guy who went into the back serving then (we were the only two customers in the store at that point)? Shouldn’t he want to get customers out of the store as fast as possible instead of hiding out in the back?
Customer A is about to leave the store, associate calls him back to help her move the battery behind the counter, giving the excuse she had other items to move as well. Getting the customer to move stuff for you, really?
I finally get to pay. Swipe my credit card, associate tears off the top copy and gives me the bottom one. I turn to leave, and get called back to sign the sales chit. What a sequence of events (and honestly, they weren’t that helpful with Customer B either, who left empty-​handed and with a recommendation to find his part at a recycled parts store).
I’m kinda hoping nothing in my car breaks on me for a while, because I don’t really want to go back.

Very helpful they even helped locate an egr gasket at a close by store since they didn’t have it in stock.

Needed an odd size spark plug for a motorcycle. Asst Manager said he could have them the next day. I told him I was going to try a different parts house. He told me no problem but He would order em in anyway. Pep boys couldnt get my plugs. Went by the next day. They had the plugs (For half what the dealer would charge). Friendly service and great prices.

The new Kragen O’reilly is not the old Kragens I grew up with.
To make it simple… don’t lose your receipt!
Even if you buy their house brand battery that is clearly marked as being within its warranty period they won’t touch it unless you have your receipt from 1,2,3,4 years ago.
Simply put, they don’t honor their warranty unless you are OCD about keeping records.

No words can truly describe just how horrible this place has become. I come to this kragen about every month for the last 2 years and have never once been pleased with their customer service. Expect to wait. at least 15 min. with not so much as a acknowledgement of of your exsistence. Even for the cash register which only seems to ever be watched by the guy who likes to sit in the far corner of the store out of sight. i will glady drive an extra ten mins to the pepboys down the street

OK — this place used to just suck, now it’s downright dangerous. Today basically a gang fight almost broke out between a guy who appears to be the manager of the store (!) and a couple of guys who came in off the street. I hardly need a cap busted in my ass just to get windshield wiper fluid.

What a pity Unilocal doesn’t have no stars, which would be just right for this bad-​service location of an otherwise acceptable source.
I went into this convenient Kragen to get a battery for my Honda. Although a neighbor assured me that they would change the battery, I took the necessary 10 mm wrench just in case and was glad I did. They provided no help so I did the job and brought my old battery back inside for ‘core’ credit. My hands were dirty from the work, so I asked whether they might have some wipes. «No,» said the surly lout at the counter. Then he added: «And you can’t use the bathroom. It’s for employees only.» This is the same lout who had closed his cash register (I came in at 4:50 PM) because he was through for the day.
And they actually want us to recommend them or come back? They must be kidding.
I sent an email comment to the corporation and got a ‘groveling’ automatic response, assuring me that they would address the issue immediately. No prizes for guessing their ‘prompt’ response. I am glad Unilocal is here to let us record these experiences, though I know that an individual cannot win vs. a corporation. But I urge readers not to patronize Kragen, based on their ‘service’ and attitude.
