Extended Stay America – San Jose – Morgan Hill

So bad. Was so disgusting. First the check in took forever and the front desk person wasn’t around and left us waiting. People were just outside the doors smoking. Cigarette butts all over the ground around the building. Very gross and dirty all around. Smelled like BO and smoke combined with dirty laundry and wet dogs INSIDE our room. They attempted to cover the smell with glade plug ins in the hallways. The rooms are tiny, with dirty carpets. The bed was tiny and hard, they had no cots or pack n plays for our kids. The AC smelled too and didn’t get cold. The sink leaked and the refrigerator was very loud. There was a large fly buzzing around the room Also the freeways sound was loud enough to be heard over the AC. The sheets, pillows and mattress were cheap and dirty.
As soon as we could, we booked another room across the street and left. What a waste of money! I would understand if it was under $ 100 a night… But we paid over $ 120/​night rate… Just $ 240 down the toilet. This was almost as worse as bad motel6 or budget inn $ 50 a night rates…
Do not stay here!

Room smells like smoke and it’s supposed to be non smoking. Make sure to check before they sell out and your stuck with no options

Worst hotel ever beds are lumpy as are the pillows. Night/​graveyard staff don’t know how to work the computers. Walls are thin and you can hear everything. Only giving one star because I have too.

Cleanest hotel in the area by far. Clean sheets and pillows, room smelled fine, no cigarette odor like so many other hotels in the area. Good customer service! JR and Ashley were more than accommodating when my hot wire reservation somehow had the wrong date, JR did everything he could to make sure I got the deal hot wire presented. I would definitely recommend this hotel when staying in the Morgan Hill/​Gilroy area. Thanks again JR!

This place was very welcoming & inviting. Staff was super friendly. Clean room, comfortable bed. It’s not the Ritz Carlton so I don’t know what all these other negative comments are complaining about. It was a comfortable bed to sleep in. I would def stay here again if in the area.

Terrible ! Don’t stay there. Dimly lit, Filthy concrete with stains and gum spots. Terrible odors. We had a non smoking room that smelled like a chain smoker had been there. The bathroom sink was gross and looked like it had been resurfaced but was peeling away… YUK! We made reservations online and had arranged for a late check out. Our confirmation didn’t arrive via email so I had to call a second time before they sent it. The next morning, they refused to honor our printed confirmed late check out and told us that we could not go past the 11AM checkout time. In my book, they are dishonest, incompetent and will never have our business again. If you don’t mind the poor facilities and less than professional customer service, this may be the place. If I could give this substandard facility negative stars, I would.

They tried to rent me a room that was’t even cleaned. Looked like previous guest just left and room smelled like a dog kennel. Glad I asked to see the room first. Told them it wasn’t cleaned, and there was no answer. Good Bye

I wrote down 28 bullet points on why to avoid this hotel. The fact that one of the only good reviews for this hotel was a woman whom they allowed letting her 2 cats stay with her should tell you something but there’s more. The police come to the front desk in the morning and asked to see a list of current tenants, yes tenants, not guests. I believe this hotel is used for welfare /​work release. Here we go. Halls and rooms reek of cigarette smoke, my room smelled like dog s**t and urine, blood on the shower curtain, neither sink drained, free Wal*Mart shopping cart in the hall, refrigerator and freezer smell of rotten food, Look out for the naked guy in the bathrobe roaming the halls, parking lot tree fire, putrid piles of dirty laundry by the elevator, no housekeeping service, you need to take your old towels to the front desk to exchange them daily, landscapers started weed eating in the lot at 7 AM. Car with shotgun damage in the lot. Guy flying drone with camera in the lot. Wonder what he’s filming? No way I will ever stay at this chain again, nor will I let my coworkers book rooms for me ever again. If you still choose to stay here, and I don’t know why you would, make sure your health and life insurance is up to date and go to the Wal*Mart next door to buy your own bed linens and towels. Don’t touch anything in this hotel without wearing latex gloves.

Was not the worst hotel I’ve been in but our ‘non’ smoking room smelt like an ashtray.
The staff were all friendly and accommodating.
The ‘free” wifi was a joke and took forever to load (they try to upsell you faster internet) and should probably not even be offered since its so bad.

I’m giving this place one star because the front desk lady was super friendly.
However, we needed to stay for a month while our house was being built. When we checked in the front desk attendant told us not to let our kids go to the lobby vending machines alone at night, that it wasn’t safe. She also showed us how to get into the front door after hours without our key, both of which made me feel very unsafe about staying there. I went ahead, against my better judgement and went up to our room. When I opened the door I was hit with the nastiest smell. It smelled like dog urine and feces. The room felt dirty. I left crying because there was no way I could live for a month in that room with my three kids. We moved to a different hotel and Extended Stay didn’t charge us for canceling our stay which is why it got the second star.

If you like the smell of smoke, seeing drug deals go down under your window, and halls full of trailer trash this is the place for you. I don’t know how I am going to sleep on pillows I don’t want my face to touch. Scary place stay clear unless your married to you uncle or sisiter.

Not recommended. We made reservations for 2 nights but we had to check out early, because the traffic noise from the highway was too much and we could not sleep. They refused to issue a refund on the second night.

Disgusting rooms, bad smell, dirty hair everywhere. Poor customer service. This place is very dirty and the staff is very rude! And very loud and noisy at night!

Great place to stay for the cost. There are the typical noises from the hallway and other rooms, but nothing devastating. Obv. not the Waldorf, but clean and has a full kitchen (except oven). They supply whatever you need in the areas of pots, pans, utensils, corkscrew, Coffer maker, etc… Just remember to ask for it at the counter. Also ask for towel exchange when you need it. In Morgan Hill, Steve is the kindest, happiest person at the main counter. Ask for him if you want truly great service.

My husband and I stayed here for 5 weeks while our house was being remodeled. We have 2 cats and they were willing to take them on. Plus, it was block away from my work. Bonus for me. I have to say that the staff was great. Friendly and accommodating. There were some things that we didn’t like of course, but we knew what we were getting before we signed on. There were some sketchy cars and trucks in the parking lot, and smokers were allowed to smoke right outside the lobby door. We couldn’t open our window because the smoke drifted up towards our room. We felt like throwing things at the smokers because… well, they just are so inconsiderate of others. But. really Extended Stay. put up some signs! Again, the staff here is great. Manager super nice. Perfect place to stay for short stay with pets. No fluff, no extras.

My advice is to book on Expedia. We paid $ 80 for a room that would have been $ 130 had we walked in without a resi.
It’s an economy hotel that has seen better days. That said, it was relatively clean and everything worked.
The location is great as it is right off the freeway abd walking distance to many restaurants abd stores.

The arrangements are fine, I really just needed a place to sleep and shower, so this place fits the bill on that level. BUT:
THE SMELL. The smell is just awful, it smells like burned nuts, or something. No idea if it’s a stale tobacco smell, or if it’s just an old room. At any rate I went out today and bought a ton of air freshener, we’ll see how that goes.
As stated before it is ridiculously LOUD, whoever is staying above me is constantly stomping around til midnight, then it begins again at 5 in the morning, just a constant stomp stomp stomp back and forth ALL THE TIME. WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP THERE!!? I have a sneaking suspicion that half the people staying here are bat S#!* crazy!
There were a few nasty «slinky hairs» in the bathroom at move in, some of the carpet doesn’t meet the wall, cheap materials, light switches are faded yellow, and caked with black gunk — COME ON. Just gross.
I have found myself gladly staying at work as late as possible to avoid the unpleasant nature of my stay here thus far.
The price couldn’t be beat, but I suppose I’m getting what I’m paying for. People working at the front desk are very helpful, and friendly. I like that they’re charging week by week, and you can check out early and just pay the per day rate, I might just have to do that.
Sigh. One month, I can do this. I can do this…

Pardon my language, but what the heck is going on?
It’s 1:58am. Doors slamming, one after another. Screams. Cries. I just heard a guy yell «you hobo!» in the hallway. The TV next door is blasting thru my wall. Has been all night. Neighbors must be insomniacs. Or crazy. Maybe both.
For $ 60/​night, maybe it’s worth it? Sketchy location, sort of close to things but located on an emptier street. The room itself is fairly large and includes a stiff, uncomfortable bed, rock-​hard pillows, flatscreen tv, kitchen with lots of cabinet space, a refrigerator, and a clean bathroom. Two stars for the nice front desk attendant, and for the free wifi.
Not recommended for a place to vacation, but could work for a temporary business trip … and maybe a permanent home? Swear I saw a family of 4 or 5 crammed into a single studio-​sized room together. Like little ants. I think they live there. No joke.
Anyway, you get the idea. It’s no paradise. I can almost say that shopping at Walmart during the peak of the holiday season is more relaxing. Just barely though.
My recommendation: Proceed with (extreme) caution. Prepare for loud noises. And beware of children. And bed bugs.
