Holiday Inn Express & Suites San Jose-Morgan Hill

My family and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago and my kids had a blast! The pool was great. To our surprise it wasn’t as packed as we thought it was gonna be.

Overall very happy with my 4 day stay here…
Happy hour had a great selection of local craft brews, appetizers left a little to be desired but hey, its free.
Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Tub was smaller then I like but the shower head was huge with good water pressure.
Breakfast was solid with fresh biscuits and gravy, breakfast meat and all of the usual suspects, cereal, oatmeal, yugart and pastries.
Seems better then your normal Holiday Inn Express.

You would think that your in a shopping mall when you walk inside and it feels like it because you have large ceilings. The hotel inside and outside are really clean, maybe because it’s a newer building.
Parking is plentiful and the staff are helpful and courteous.
The complimentary breakfast is what you expect from Holiday Inn express and are consistent with the other locations. Food are clean and always filled.
Rooms are what you expect, decent and clean enough worth your dollar.

Had the best experience. The place was immaculate, clean and smelled very fresh. Beds were extremely comfortable, and the price was right. Definitely recommend this place, hands down.

My family and I had the enjoyment to stay here two nights. A local business/​community member recommended this Holiday Inn as it has quick freeway access, quiet location, plenty of eateries nearby and the referral had personally been involved in a charity event that took place at the hotel and had nothing but positive things to say about the staff.
We enjoyed our room (king & queen pull out) – it was very clean and well tended too, and after traveling on the road for 2 weeks it was the «Vegas room» of our stays. We normally don’t use hotel soap, but here, the soaps and lotions were from Bath & Body works and were nice to use. Towels and sheets were very clean. Beds were all super comfortable to sleep in, I even took note to see if I could purchase a similar bed for my own personal home use. The complementary breakfast was enjoyable and had a little bit of everything so adults and kids were happy after breakfast! I enjoyed the staff that helped at breakfast – young girl, she was very patient with my kids too. Kids enjoyed the indoor pool, and so did I. The manager David, was very helpful when I had a billing issue arise he listened and was kind, empathetic, and very courteous & professional. In our frequent travels, it’s not often we find pleasurable staff, nice complementary breakfast & neat and clean room, but this Holiday Inn definitely met all these criteria items. We will be in Morgan Hill, CA several times a year and will definitely stay here at Holiday Inn Express & Suites in all our future visits. Highly recommended for families and business travelers as well.

Great hotel! Was only planning on staying one night, ended up staying three! The indoor pool is awesome especially with little ones as the water is only 3 – 5 feet!!! Rooms are nice and clean! Coffee in the morning is great! Breakfast is just ok! Can’t go wrong with oatmeal and cereal or toast, but I refuse to try their eggs, omelets, or bacon, they just looked nasty! The main reason for staying here is mostly for the pool!!!

Clean hotel, but do not go on a weekend. All of their «amenities» are only available during weekday. Their wine/​beer manager’s reception is weekday only. And if you want to chill in the «atrium» and watch some TV? Not going to happen. TV’s are only turned on during the week.
Also, breakfast this morning was disgusting. I like Holiday Inn breakfasts, that is why we chose this hotel. But their omelette this morning was filled with what I can only describe as «Easy Cheese». Gross.
My advice is, if you want to stay here, don’t do so Friday through Sunday. It’s not worth it.

Great place to stay. Less than 10 mins away from center Gilroy. Very friendly staff. Clean and sanitized everything. Pool. Steam room. HUGE breakfast buffet. Its a bit pricey compared to other neighboring hotels but worth the extra $$$$.
Will deff stay here again!

This hotel is fantastic! It is literally right off the freeway, so very convenient. It seems well insulated, so didn’t hear any freeway noise. The lobby is beautiful with very tall pillars so appears very grand when you walk in. There is an INDOOR pool! Woohoo! Kids absolutely love that! Great breakfast, very nice management. Good banquet rooms. Clean, updated rooms. Would totally stay here again!

I highly recommend the hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the place was immaculate. The staff was extremely friendly and service was great. Would definately stay here again since its so conveniently located off the highway.

We stayed here for one night. The first thing to note is the lobby. It is fantastic… they have a small upscale bar area with a cozy seating area to enjoy drinks or coffee. The décor is completely conducive to a nice «having-​time-​away».
The rooms are so Very Clean and the bed was so comfy. When you’re away from home, it’s hard to find a bed you get sleep in. I got sleep here :-)
The breakfast was nice and CLEAN.
Definitely a place I would stay at again!
I didn’t visit the indoor pool but my daughter did. She loved it! Guess I definitely have to go back now :-)

we only stayed one night but it was great. The bed was so compfortable. (we opted for the pillow top king) the service was excellent. they had breakfast and it was very clean. I would recommend staying here to anyone and I will be back to stay agian.

Decent hotel, clean but Do Not get room above lobby. The music is so loud from the outside a person can’t sleep. I’ve called twice to the lobby with no luck of them turning it down. I can still hear it with the A/​c cranked and sound machine on.

Great hotel and it’s right off the highway. The staff is very helpful and polite. The hotel has changed a lot with new upgrades in the front. The evening social is good with good wine and beer, but they need better finger foods. The current finger foods are chicken fingers, taquitos, jalapeño poppers, and cheese curds on any given day of the week. They also have a vegetable tray they serve, but the vegetables look days old and look like they reuse them. Breakfast is great!!! I would recommend this hotel to any traveler driving the 101 north or south. I give this hotel four stars, it would be five stars if the finger foods were better.

Clean but you hear every door that opens and closes so dont plan on sleeping in late.

Our stay here was comfortable. The rooms look and even smell good. Comfortable beds.

Another fantastic stay at the Holiday Inn Express Morgan Hill I HIGHLY recommend this Hotel to any and all who are having family here for the Holidays, or for a «Romantic Couples Night» not only is the staff friendly and accommodating, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and CLEAN. I’ve been renting rooms here for my daughters birthday for the past 10 years and this year for the first time we stayed in «The Apartment» and the girls had a fantastic time Morgan just had the best 18^th Birthday Party any girl would be envious of. In the past 10 years we’ve stayed in many of the rooms here, there all lovely but this experience was above and beyond memorable. A HUGE Thank you to the Staff and of course David for making this Hotel a fantastic place to stay and play. Absolutely * all the way!

I stayed here for a one night business trip. Check in was smooth and fast, they even had my 2 packages i had delivered there waiting for me. My room was spacious and comfortable.
I spend a lot of time in hotels and this fitness center was one of the best I’ve used at hotels. it has weight machines, dumbbell sets and cardio machines.
And to my surprise they do dinner and free craft beers M-​F 5:30 — 7:30. It was a great hotel and if I’m back in the area I’ll be staying here.

We live locally, but decided to stay here for their New Year’s Eve party, and over-​night deal — only $ 178 for 2 tickets to New Years party, plus a room for the night, and the 2^nd night was $ 29 (which we did).
The New Year’s party itself would get a 2.5÷5 — the food was excellent, the music was average, to below average. They didn’t build up to New Years very well at all… and talked wayyy too much between songs. There were not a lot of songs that had you jumping out of your seat to go dance. They allowed guests to come up and sing — uh, no further comments on that part ;) The New Years party starts getting cleaned up at 12:30 quite promptly… as you are still sitting and enjoying your champagne, the chairs were being piled up around us, and tables being cleared. Their New Years bash definitely seemed to cater more to an older crowd, perhaps they had bused in from the Seniors center (?)
Overall, we felt our weekend definitely offered our money’s worth! Our kids had a fantastic time with the other kids hanging out in the room, and were able to come out to welcome the New Year with us. They also got to swim in their heated pool for 2 days straight, and had a fabulous time. The service is very friendly at the hotel — although, they seemed very eager to clean up, and close down the party, even when we ventured into the smaller room, where the food had been served. The couches from under us, were taken away, and we were told to move over to the stacked chairs instead. The guy that had to come ask us to move was very nice — he was just doing his job, but management could perhaps ease up, and cater to their guests.
A few things were bothersome, but overall we had a great time! The rooms are very nice, and the beds are super comfortable. The temperature control in the room worked perfectly. The free wi-​fi in the room was terrible — had to sit beside the hallway door to get service. The free breakfast is above average. Definitely a great choice, and reasonable rates! I’m on the fence about going to their New Years party again, but I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

This rating is 3.5 stars but I’ll give them the benefit of having it show as 4 stars since I think that the design and amenities of the Morgan Hill HI express are above average among HI Express flagged hotels. I would have given it a full 4 stars except that I think the common areas of the hotel, especially the hallways and fitness center, are showing quite a bit of wear. The rooms are nice and well maintained with double queen and single king beds and refrigerators. They also offer a well stocked breakfast with a variety of fresh fruit and soy milk along with the full array of usual HI Express breakfast items.
This HI Express is notable for its large enclosed courtyard which houses the lounge and breakfast area and spans all three floors of the main wing. This lends a grand aura to the hotel. The fitness center has a cool — but possibly flawed — design. It spans two stories at the far end of the hotel with a small pool on the ground floor and a decent sized workout center above on an open-​air mezzanine. This is cool since it make the center feel larger and less claustrophobic. However, the ventilation was malfunctioning or just plain inadequate because the mezzanine work-​out area had pretty overwhelming chlorine fumes from the pool which made you fear for your lungs while working out. I noted that one of the glass partitions between the stairwell and the pool was cracked during my visit — more deferred maintenance!
There is also a conference room on the ground floor. I would note that when I was last here the hotel was pretty full AND they had some sort of meeting going on which I believe did not include many guest rooms. The result was inadequate parking for hotel guests. If you can, request the top floor since if the guest above you is heavy footed you will hear them (as I did).
The hotel is located at the southern end of town near the city’s aquatic center and sports facilities and on the other side of the highway from downtown. It is easily accessible from the highway. We have stayed here on a couple of occasions over the past several years and will likely be back, but not if they don’t address some of the wear and tear issues which I mentioned!
Lastly, I read some of the negative reviews and note that they were primarily left by guests who had come here with a large wedding party. I would not recommend any HI Express for a wedding party! HI Express properties, including this one, are designed for families and business people.
