Pioneer Grill was pretty average. Would definitely recommend it over the blue heron. Had the chicken wrap which was good and I really liked the mac and cheese. The fries were probably 2 hours old and I would not recommend them.

Our Salmon Caesar salads($ 16 each) were delicious and the portions perfect for hungry travelers. The New York steak($ 25) was tasty. Friendly, if not distracted service. We had to flag down our server a few times for water, drinks and the check. The atmosphere is pure diner, pure fun.

We only had breakfast here, right before heading out on a Snake River rafting trip. The Mountain Man(trout, eggs, potatoes) and the trout omelette were both excellent. The kids enjoyed the humongous cinnamon rolls(as well as the eggs and hash browns). Reasonable prices all around(for food within the park!).

Ate here while staying at the Lodge. Great service — WAYBETTER than in Yellowstone! — the meals were good. Nice menu selections with some interesting specials. Highly recommend the shakes/frappes especially the Huckleberry one. The interior counter could be renovated though. Cool that it’s the longest in the world but it’s dated.

Fast, friendly service in a 60’s 70’s counter dinner atmosphere. I had eggs over easy and corn beef hash, daughter had cinnamon roll(good sized as she didn’t eat it all) and my husband had biscuits and gravy. This isn’t your upscale breakfast establishment, so adjust you expectations accordingly. BUT if you like hearty food and all the coffee you could possibly drink, come here for breakfast. Our server Ryan from Florida was friendly and energetic(but not hyper) at 7:30AM as was Chisa from Japan who helped with our section. A nice way to start the day:)

Decent food at slightly high prices, though that seems par for the course in national parks. Had black bean burger one night, and chicken salad sandwich another — both quite good. My husband enjoyed the pot pie special, and while overall the pot roast was good, some pieces of the very large portion were dry. Breakfast was adequate(french toast very cinamonny, pancakes good, bacon OK). Definitely the go-to place if staying at lodge(we did not like the Mural Room’s breakfast and never went back).

Dinner Review: First come, first served style at this retro diner. Enjoy the artifacts hung on the walls while you enjoy this comforting food. Lots on the menu including salads, sandwiches and specials each night. Know where you are. This is a diner in the park so don’t expect a gourmet experience. That being said, the service is quick and the food is yummy. They make great grilled sandwiches and have a big selection of desserts. They also do takeout. The Dusty Glacier dessert is delicious but make sure you have someone to share it with. It is massive!

Disappointment doesn’t quit capture the sentiment. Food quality was horrible — salad was browning and the Caesar dressing was probably the worst I’ve tasted. Chicken was very over-cooked and bland. Wife had salmon sandwich that was also horrible. Bread was very mushy and the salmon was obviously microwaved. Terrible food and very expensive. $ 40 for 3 of us.

We went at an off time so it wasn’t crowded. We were allowed to sit where we wanted. All the spots were clean as apparently they have a person assigned to each row to keep things clean and filled. Our waitress was an older lady who was very polite and talkative. The food was ordered and came out quickly. Nothing we had was bad but nothing outstanding. The portions were large so there was no room for desert. I would say hit if off meal times for best experience.

Terribly overpriced with young, inattentive staff that clearly doesn’t know what they’re doing and a manager who tried to give things away for free to make things better(not to us, but to another group we saw who shared their problems). We ordered and noticed some discrepancies between the two very similar menus we were holding. Our salad and soup never came and we waited far too long for how few people were there. Then our dinners came followed quickly by that soup and salad… except that the soup ordered was now magically a chili(?!) instead, and we never were given the rolls & butter the menu said should appear. My own dinner was a «black bean» burger that tasted fine enough but was clearly a factory-made veggie burger complete with corn and soy filler – NOT a «black bean» burger – and macaroni & cheese that tasted and looked exactly like a box of Kraft. It was disappointing to say the least. My companions meatloaf was«okay» but wasn’t exactly complemented by the chili that was never explained. Drinks and refills were slow. We waited almost 10 minutes just to get attention to receive our bill. I paid almost $ 50 for dinner for two that included no alcohol nor desserts. Baffling. Two stars for existing, serving edible food, and seeming clean enough.

IMHO this is the best place for casual food in Grand Teton National Park. We even returned here after checking out of the Jackson Lake Lodge. In addition to the charming 50’s luncheonette vibe, the food was tasty and the service prompt. If you’re there for breakfast, be sure to try the granola.

Pretty good grill/diner. Our group had many servings there in a few days. My recommendation is: Go for the stuff on the lower end, such as burgers, waffles, pie, ice cream, fruit bowl. They do quite well for your basic grill stuff. The higher priced items on the menu sound pretty good, but were only okay really.

If you have any kind of food allergy, don’t eat here. My sister has a nut allergy and had the chicken salad sandwich. No where on the menu did it say anything about the chicken salad having nuts in it and when we asked about it, they told us there were no nuts. However, I pulled a walnut out of the salad. Moral of the story– if you want to have an unexpected allergic reaction and still pay for your food– this might be the restaurant for you.

You can’t beat the charm of National Park eating establishments. They are chock full of charm, sub par food and smiling faces. The same goes for Pioneer Grill near the south entrance of Yellowstone(great location after a visit to the Tetons). The ice cream and desserts were piled high and everyone looked like they were wrapping up a rewarding day with Mama Nature. The Grill itself is contently frozen in time — maybe 1972? 1968? Either way, I like it. Bring on the wrap around counters, dessert displays, open kitchen, heavy comfort food and vinyl high top seating. As for our order, in true Yellowstone fashion, I opted for the bison burger that automatically comes with an order of fries. My partner-in-crime had the egg/bacon/cheese sandwich(quite delicious) also with fries. My advice is to skip the fries as a side and opt for something else. They were on the mushy side and the alternatives seemed lighter and more refreshing alongside a beefy bison burger. Oh, the burger, yes, it was tasty. You can have it served with Swiss, pepper jack or cheddar cheese. Unfortunately, there is no view of the Tetons from this dining room, but you’re only a few feet away from the lodge lobby that boasts jaw-dropping views.

This is a great retro diner inside the Jackson Lake Lodge. Great food, although pricey. I noticed a few couples sharing an entrée. It would be nice to have a small fruit bowl on the menu to substitute for potatoes. The service is excellent. I ended up there three times a day for several days, as there just aren’t a lot of restaurants around. Each time, I was greeted warmly, and treated very well.

We’ve eaten here a number of times during previous visits. So it’s one of the first places we look for in the park at lunch time. The food is consistently good and the burgers are outstanding. You can eat in or take as a carry out and sit outside if the weather permits. You won’t get a bad meal here.

The longest diner counter anywhere. I enjoyed my breakfast here; just standard breakfast like bacons, eggs and toast. The coffee Is the best of any diners that I have been too. They served strong coffee, not water with a flash of coffee for flavor. This definitely enhanced the breakfast experience.

Where else can you find breakfast before you start your day? Mural dining room. Go to Pioneer Grill. NOT mural dining room. It’s more casual, and food’s better, and cheaper too. Walk in and take your own seats, then pay in the front and the door.

What a phenomenal place to stay at! We stayed 3 nights(2 adults and 2 young kids). It was just awesome. The view is definitely the best in the area. Facing the Teton and overlooking a huge green area and Jackson lake. Lots of wild life and if you are lucky you can see bears too. A grisly walked the terrace at 6 am the day we left. They have a great bar with an outdoor patio where you can enjoy your favorite beverage and enjoy the view. It is my favorite place there. The also have 3 restaurants and the food is good. From dinner style to kinda high end. Make reservation if you want the more high end one though. It is worth it. The location is also perfect. Smack in the middle of the Grand Teton national park, and an hour drive from the south entrance of Yellow stone national park. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy it some more. I highly recommend this hotel.

I don’t know why people are writing reviews for that other entry(‘Pioneer Grill at Jackson Lake Lodge”) because the address there is «highway 89» which is not helpful, especially when you are trying to check into the place on Unilocal. It’s kinda weird when Unilocal tells me I «am too far away to check in here» when I’m sitting in the middle of the dang restaurant! Anyway, Pioneer Grill is one of the few sources of food when staying at the Jackson Lake Lodge near the Grand Tetons, but for what it is, I say it serves its purpose quite well. The food there ranges from just«ok» to above average. I didn’t have anything there I didn’t like, but there’s nothing there I «loved» either(hey, it’s a lodge diner). But I will tell you that the omelettes are a much better choice than the buffalo burger. What I’m saying is, stick with breakfast, and for lunch maybe try the Blue Heron right next door instead. With that said, everyone who works there is extremely nice. Food comes rather quickly and the servers are attentive enough considering how many people come through the place. Take note that this is a busy diner atmosphere, and it’s all counters. The counters are set up in such a way that they snake through the room. It’s kinda interesting. For all you«private» individuals out there, don’t come in here because you’ll be sitting next to somebody or behind somebody at all times. Payment of the check is done at the front, and you can leave a tip with the person there(they know who to give it to). Pay by cash, card, or your room #.
