I cannot recommend this place for the waxing services. My services were pretty routine but took over 2 hours. My leg wax had to be redone a few days later – as soon as I was in the sun I noticed long hairs all over the place. The waxer only waxed hair she could see rather than just waxing the entire leg. Since I have light hair, she apparently was not able to see much of the hair. Yet the process was so time consuming. Too much money, too much time, not enough expertise to be doing the type of waxing undertaken.

I’ve been here a few times to see Michelle for facials and waxing. She’s so sweet and gives an amazing facial! During the holidays she offers a pumpkin enzyme that smells delicious and leaves my skin glowing. Her treatments all year round keep me looking and feeling my best!

I came to Artisans with my bridesmaids for my Bridal Hair and MakeUp and everything was wonderful! They made me feel the most beautiful I have ever felt in my life. I had never been there before as I don’t live in Monterey. Ever since I contacted them, Renee was very friendly and answered all of my questions. The morning of the wedding, we arrived at their beautiful, sunny, and posh salon. For the VERY fair, great price we paid, and for being first time customers there, we felt treated like VIPs.
I want to give a HUGE thank you to Brandy for the greatest makeup I’ve ever had done. I have bad skin with a lot of little blemishes, including my back, so I was so worried about my skin looking good on my wedding day. They do not offer airbrushing, but Brandy’s technique made my skin look truly flawless! She was very bubbly and a pleasure to chit chat with, and she made me look stunning. I would highly recommend her for your makeup needs! Thank you Brandy!
Renee did my fancy updo and it was also fantastic. My mistake was that I wasn’t very clear in describing what I wanted and didn’t want, and it started looking not quiet what I envisioned, so I just took a moment to clarify more what I had in mind, and she was very accommodating and understanding, and in the end it was perfect. The updo was very creative and complex! She clearly has a lot of skill in many different techniques, and I would absolutely go back for any other hair service — too bad I live in the bay area, but I do hope to return to Artisans. I think its a great place and brides-​to-​be should definitely consider it. Honestly the prices are what led me to choose this place, and the quality was excellent! Thank you Artisans for being a special part of the happiest day of my life, it will always be remembered. Pictures Included!

I’ve gotten my hair braided and colored by Maigyn. She is exceptionally gentle and sweet and pays attention to detail. My braids stayed in for weeks and my highlights were great. I am VERY tender headed and she was able to give me what I wanted without making my head hurt. I really appreciated her energy and easygoing personality. I felt Well cared for and relaxed. I’d recommend her to anyone especially for all your braiding needs.:)

This is one of the ugliest experiences, pay $ 160 estilisan and if so can be called. Never in my life I come back there. Nana. Is my bad experiencia.

I came to see Michelle for the pumpkin enzyme facial. She made me feel so comfortable and relaxed I floated out of the salon. She also gave me a wonderful skin analysis and is going to help me with my acne. I would recommend anyone in the Monterey area to book your next facial with Michelle! I moved to Monterey from San Diego June 2006 and needed a new stylist/​colorist. A friend recommended Renee at Artisans and I have never looked back. She consistently makes my hair look awesome and I feel as happy leaving there as when I arrived. All the stylists at Artisans are friendly and make you feel welcome. In the event that Renee cannot do my hair for some reason in the future, I would have no problem going to another stylist at Artisans. They have my card on file with my color formula. So…

Highly recommend Sue! She is the best waxer in the peninsula. I was very lucky to have found her. Great atmosphere, very educated, and experienced. She also fixed my eyebrows from a previous person.

Best hair experience I’ve had! Coming from
San Diego I was nervous to try a small town stylist. Renee is a dream! 20 yrs of experience (but you wouldn’t guess it looking at her. Talk about good genes!) and she knows how to handle different textures of hair. Got my hair relaxed and it came out exactly as I had hoped. Worth every penny! I highly recommend this salon to anyone who wants to try something new or just get a good cut.

Had a great experience here and will be returning here again! Amber took care of me and gave me excellent service. I got my hair relaxed and cut and I’ve never had it done so well. I recommend this salon and Amber to anyone especially if you have ethnic hair. She really knows her stuff.

Artisans Salon is a place where you can expect great service, quality products and a great hair style. When I first came to see Renee at Artisans, my hair was in a state of disrepair. Over the last two years, Renee has completely restored my hair and it is healthier than it has ever been. I absolutely love my hair!
While I have only had my hair done by Renee and Bree, all of the stylists at Artisans are friendly and professional. Renee is very accommodating and will schedule an appointment around MY availability. The salon has a certain charm about it that will make you feel right at home (not to mention the tea/​coffee/​pastries that are offered).
If you want to look and feel amazing, try Artisans. It is a rare occasion that I give any establishment a 5-​star rating, but this is one of them.

I was a big fan but became rushed. Who wants to be rushed while having their hair styled? Not me.

I’ve been going to Artisans Salon for about three years, and I have nothing but great things to say about the staff and their services. Renee is the owner, and she always cuts my hair. She is very knowledgable about various styles and products, and is always friendly. You will get wrapped up in a great conversation with her while she cuts your hair. If you can’t get in to see Renee, go see Bree. She also very nice and professional. Artisans carries their own line of products, which are quality products. A Gem In Monterey!
I have been a fan of Artisans Salon since their location on Foam street, which I loved that location it was so close to Cannery Row and the beach. Their location now on Cortes is cute very convenient and I love how fun and inviting you feel when you walk in the door. The girls are all nice and unfortunately I am now in San Francisco, I still go in for their services any time I am in Monterey… Thanks girls For all the years of service and hats off to the owner Renee, your salon is truly a Gem!

I stopped in to get my hair cut here because it happens to be within walking distance, and I was not disappointed. I made an appointment with Brianna and she is absolutely wonderful! When I sat at the chair she asked me what I wanted, offered helpful suggestions when I asked, and was kind and professional. While she cut my hair, we chatted a bit. Brianna is very nice and talented. I left looking and feeling like a million bucks!
This salon has the perk of catering to various customers. They cut men and women’s hair, and they have stylists of varying ages and style so that you can have your hair done by someone you are comfortable with.

Kudos to Cathy for coming to my rescue and saving the day!
She took me in on a whim while passing thru Monterey on a recent visit.
A previous cut from a hairstylist in San Francisco left me looking sub-​par.
After giving me a once over and pointing out my previous imperfections (from the hair cut of course) she worked her magic and at half price from what she normally would charge.
I would highly recommend her for both men or women looking for a professional hairstylist. Friendly and personable, in addition to a very nice Salon!
