I just had my hair done and I can’t say enough how much I love the way that Cherie nails it every time! 506 Salon is always so clean and comfortable and all the clients leaving are always so happy! This is truly a little gem of Monterey, I can tell they are very selective of only the best hair stylists!

I am new to the area and was so shocked at how expensive salons are here. After calling about 4 different places I decided to go with this salon and was given Jessica’s number when I called the salon. She was quick to respond and also texted me which is my preferred way of talking so that was really convenient communicating with her. I found the salon downtown and they have their own parking lot but you have to pay 50 cents and hour which is better than street parking on a 2 hour limit and having to rush back to your car. I met Jessica and she was so sweet and asked me a lot of questions about my hair color so she could get it right. I have dark hair and it always sucks leaving looking like a witch with jet black hair. Jessica nailed my hair color and the cut. She is talkative without it being overwhelming so we talked the whole time and the appointment flew by. With cut and color the total came out to $ 180 which isn’t too far off from what I normally pay. I tipped her extra of course so the total was more but she was definitely worth it. I’m so happy I found a stylist here! Everyone go see Jessica!

Just tried this salon last week and Jessica was amazing! She really listened to what I wanted and also took a lot of care to look at my hair and make recommendations based on my hair type. Oh and her aromatherapy scalp treatment was awesome! Definitely will be going back!

Love, love, LOVE Jessica. Besides being the sweetest human being ever, she’s the BEST with curly hair. I found her by searching Deva Curl stylist and I’m so glad I did. My hair is wavy at best, but her cuts bring out twice the curl than usual(don’t ask me how). My 4-year-old daughter has thick, spiral curls and Jessica is just amazing with her hair. I bring my 2-year-old son to her as well for his fine, loose curls. So happy to have found her!

Tiffany is amazing. I walk in, sit down, and tell her to make me look good and she has NEVER failed. I trust her. I’ve had blonde highlights added to my dark hair on her suggestion and I love it. She’s an asset to the salon for sure. She may be soft spoken but she’s got BIG skills!

Cherie was truly amazing! She did my wedding hair and make-up, and not only did an amazing job but was really sweet and easy to work with. I am pretty picky about how my hair and make-up get done so I had considered shelling out big bucks after a couple trials that I wasn’t 100% satisfied with elsewhere. I then found Cherie through a friend and knew at my trial that I was in good hands, and the stress went away. She listened to what I wanted, gave great advice, and did a fabulous job on my mom and sister too.

I get my hair done by CHERIE. She always gets it just right! The cut and color are always amazing. She takes the time to figure out what you want and offers her opinion which is always helpful. She takes her time and is never rushed.

This was the first salon I tried after moving to Monterey. I had high expectations since the salon offered a cute and comfortable space. However, my stylist was inexperienced and overall clueless. Prior to coming in, I had told the receptionist that my hair was long, thick and straight — which is not easy to work with. She booked my appointment with someone who had experience with this type of hair — or so she said. During the color portion of my appointment — the stylist and I picked out some colors that would compliment my natural color — which is dark brown. The shade actually came out much darker and more ashy than what we initially picked out — which was lighter and more red. After she trimmed around then blow dried — she took off my cape and attempted to send me off. I had to ask her to cut more and take out the weight — I sectioned my hair and showed her where and how she should be cutting, so the length would not be cut short. I was surprised that she was surprised — because we had discussed the plan beforehand. Overall, it was a pretty bad experience. I felt like she didn’t paying attention to what I wanted and didn’t seem to care. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back.

Had my hair done by Pete about 6 months ago based on the reviews I saw in Unilocal and a friend who is a regular with Pete. I thought he did an ok job but I also think if you get the right person at supercuts they can do an ok job too. Didn’t hate my hair but it wasn’t the best cut I have ever gotten either. I won’t be returning.

Nicole is an excellent hair stylist, also she gives great advice in hair color choices. The highlights she chose go perfectly with my hair color. I typically wear extensions and Nicole does great extensions, so much so, that my friends inquire as to who did them. Nicole is always up to date on current hair styles, bling, feathers and such. My husband loves the styling and beard trimming Nicole performs on him. Due to the above, I am always promoting Nicole.

Kimberlee gave me the prettiest warm low lights for winter, but I think I’m keeping them for good! My color looks amazing!

I have been through many different stylist for color and cut… and sometimes for special events. Kimberlee Rold is the best, she can do everything. My color is great for the first time ever and she uses techniques that are low maintenance and not harsh on my hair. Best of all she is fast. By far the best stylist I have been to ever.

I haven’t gotten my hair cut in a long time, and I’m always hesitant about it when I do go. So I finally decided to buckle down and take my chances. I found the salon here on Unilocal and after all the excellent reviews, decided to give it a try. I’m so glad I did because it’s probably the best hair cut I’ve ever gotten. And I’m not exaggerating. Pete did an amazing job! He was friendly and had such a nice technique! I will definitely be making my appointment with him the next time I need a hair cut! The salon is such a nice environment to relax in and the staff is very friendly, too. Oh, and the prices are very resonable as well! I would highly recommend 506.

I have been going to Tiffany for several months now, and love the way she does my hair. She colors and cuts it just like I like it. She is very friendly and has a very sweet personality. I just picked the salon here on Unilocal and got scheduled with Tiffany. Took my chances and it has worked out very nicely. The salon is very relaxing… music not to loud and the stylists all speak in a quiet tone. I have been in salons that are so noisy you can’t relax and enjoy the time spent waiting for the color to be done. Thanks, to all of you at 506 Salon, and especially, Tiffany !!!

I LOVE Kimberlee at Salon 506! It’s so tough to find someone that can work a natural look to blonde highlights. She is the full package, great cuts, great color, very talented and San Francisco trained from a prestigious school. Kimberlee has been making me beautiful for 3 years, and Monterey is lucky to have her! UPDATE: Kimberlee has since moved to Vanity Salon on Tyler St!

Top notch salon. Very professional; featured in the 831 Magazine. I used to go to Pete(the owner) and then left the salon to find someone closer(and cheaper if I’m going to be honest) to where I live in Salinas. Needless to say I found cheaper, but I could not find anyone to get my hair the right color of blonde. It just kept coming out brassy. Then I met a guy name Michael Lira who said he could hook me up a better do for cheaper. Unfortunately I trusted him. I told him I wanted to get the brassyness out and get more of an ashy blonde. He ended up bleaching my hair NEON yellow. And completely drying out my soft fine hair. Totally damaged. He also used a razor on my hair — Do not let anyone do that to you if you have fine hair. I now have broken little pieces of uneven hair all over my crown. After breaking down in tears and running over to my friend’s house, she immediately grabbed me by the hand and rushed me down to Hair 506(where her mother also has been getting her hair done by Tiffany for years). Pete wasn’t there, but Tiffany(my hair savior) was. I’m sure my god aweful hairdo and tears helped, but she ended up scheduling an emergency Sunday appointment for me. I cannot tell you how many compliments I’ve gotten since she fixed my hair. No one at work ever saw the neon yellow atrocity but they immediately noticed what an amazing job she did. And it had to have been amazing to transform it from the tragedy it was. She deep conditioned, toned and then did highlights and lowlights. My hair has never looked so good. I never should have left Hair 506. It’s worth a few extra bucks trust me!

If you want a great haircut, ask for Linda Toplarski. She listens well, cuts like a dream and doesn’t try to load you up with ridiculously-priced products. She’s personable, interesting and is quite busy. You won’t leave without making a follow up appointment. She’s that good.
