Monterey Park Golf Club

Absolute bargain. All the grouchy negative comments (why didn’t I see Tiger Woods?/ there was a child laughing/​they don’t let you wear a mankini/​a crow in the parking lot gave me a funny look) baffle me. Either they have never played golf EVER or they are just plain fussy. I bet they complain McDonalds doesn’t serve pheasant McNuggets. It is what it is: an affordable golf club. You will find all you could need at a price most people can afford. Free and abundant parking is another plus. I highly recommend it!

I was immediately impressed with the brand new driving range. It’s beautiful, new and very easy to operate. The targets are very clear and give you an easy view of what you are trying to hit.
As far as the course goes…
It’s a little beat up. Greens aren’t taken care of. They are green, but they have some heavy patches and your putts will change vary as soon as you go over one…
BUT, for the money ($ 10 a round) you can’t beat it. Get your irons and wedges out and go practice…

One of the first driving range I’ve been to that offers self loading tees! We usually come on Sunday morning/​noon and parking has never been an issue. My 5 y/​o daughter is currently taking lessons with instructor Sean Jeon and he is great! I highly recommend him and the course.

I would highly recommend skipping this course.
Firstly, you’re hitting off mats with a sign that says «do not hit off grass»
How do they expect you to tee up on a par 4? Your tee does not go far enough into the mats. I’m guessing they’re way too cheap to just do repair work on tee boxes.
Second, why I’m pretty upset with this place, they do a $ 10 minimum on cards here. I wanted a tap water and she gave me literally a Dixie cup. I asked if I could have it in like a large plastic beer cup. Nope, they charge 80 cents for the cup. I had no cash on me and couldn’t pay the 80 cents with card. I just paid 20 bucks to play your shitty course and you can’t hook it up with a large glass of water like any other establishment would?

THIS PLACE ROCKS! Off the LA beaten trendy path and I love it. Easy to get to, classy, but casual and easy going. Has everything you need and more. Very modern. Parking is super easy. Double level driving range. Automated tees and distance calculator is a big thumbs up. Seats for those joining you while at the range is nice too. Food options, are good. Nice area to sit and relax and talk.

This place is good when little kids aren’t running the starter box trying to let their friend in free. I called and told them there was two in my group and my girlfriend is learning. No problem the guy tells me. We won’t pair you up, it’s late… Well after driving forty minutes to get there the little girl tells me they are pairing us up… I figured it was her boyfriend or something the way they were acting with each other.
LAME. I bet of the manager knew what was going on you wouldn’t have your job very long. Friends get you fired sweetie.
This is a nice golf course. Just get there before the manager leaves or it’s a free for all. I won’t be going back.

I learned how to play golf here and this was WAY before the remodel. Kevin was my teacher. He still teaches and is a great instructor. My dad even scored a hole in one here so I have a lot of fond memories here.
Before and after? Man. It made a huge difference. The parking is still kind of a pain in the butt (on weekends) since they share lots with two restaurants, but the driving range is super nice now. Automated everything! You no longer have to bend over to place your ball on a tee. Also, the patio for food and lounge area by the first tee is super super nice. It’s very resort like and makes you feel like you’re some where on vacation playing golf…

This is not the closest golf course to me, but I love how the driving range is shaded. The coaches here are really good too. Highly recommend.

I love Monterey Park Golf Club! I come here once or twice a week to practice golf and it’s one of my favorites. It’s very clean, the staff is very friendly and they have really good food (and beer). I would definitely recommend the kale wrap, fries, and tacos with some beer. I love that they have the automatic ball dispenser so I don’t have to bend down every time I want to hit a ball!

Best driving range out there. Great prices on balls before 4pm. $ 20 gets you about 280 balls and a card that doesn’t have expiration date in case your not able to smashed all 280. =]

Monterey Golf facility is great! A true diamond in the «rough». From the proshop, the double deck automatic tee range and lastly the course, everything about this place is nothing short of detailed excellence. The fairways, sand traps and greens are very well kept. Greens are tricky!
If you’re not an avid golfer and you’re just looking for a quick bite to satisfy your palate, the café is great! Food exceeds all expectations and to top it off you get to enjoy your meal in a nice cabana with flat screen tvs and a fireplace.
In short, Monterey golf facility is great for anyone who enjoys a great time!

Came here for the first time to practice my swing. The driving range is nice. The ball automatically tees up for you so no bending down to constantly get a new ball. It’s nicely maintained but I found some cigarette buds leftover at the seating area.

This is such an amazing facility compared to ALL the other ranges my boyfriend and I have been to! It is even better than the one in Ktown called Aroma which is also automatic! :) They even have a gelato ice cream claw machine!!! Also everyone seems so much more into the game than the people in Alhambra

Played the course on an early Saturday morning. Since we didn’t set up a tee time before arriving, I expected a long wait. Surprisingly, the course wasn’t too busy and we only waited 20 minutes to start.
I played Monterey long before the renovation and I definitely noticed the improvements to the driving range (now 2 stories with automatic loading tees), fairways and greens.
Mind you, I’m a self-​proclaimed hacker. But I appreciate the challenge of the game and enjoy my time on the course, whatever my score ends up being. The reason that I mention this is because it’s easy to be intimidated by a course and by other (more skilled) golfers. I didn’t catch that vibe at all at Monterey. This is a great course for beginners, but it also challenged my buddies who are regular golfers. The staff was friendly and the other players were cool. Totally laid back vibe with some nice scenery.
The course was in very good condition. It has two par 4s and seven par 3s. You won’t use your entire arsenal of woods at this course, but you can definitely practice your short game. The greens were fast and tricky, in my amateur opinion. The 3^rd, 7^th, and 9^th holes were my favorites. Overall, I had a great time at Monterey and look forward to playing there again when I return to SoCal.

4.5 stars only because they don’t let you drink on the range … Super cool bar area with the fire pit. The fries and kale wrap is Yummo.

We have quite a laughing time with friends teasing each other of their shots.

Whoa, am I in Seoul or something??? This facility is state of the art… self loading teas, adjustable height of your tea via foot pedals, etc…
I’m taking lessons from a pro here named Jay, an ex PGA pro who’s considering competing again: his analogies and teaching style is on point. Down stairs (oh yeah forgot to mention that it’s a two level range) there’s a demo area where you can test out the latest gear and see your stats after you hit a few balls. I also had some clubs re gripped at a reasonable price. It took 30 minutes.
Decent green area with a huge pro shop. Price of gear sold is actually competitive, and that’s something considering that it’s a pro shop.
This place is legit.
Fyi finding the entrance is bit tricky at night. Just find a right turn into a hill when your GPS says you’ve arrived. I highly recommend this place if you’re starting out.

Years and years ago, I used to go to Monterey Park golf course every week and I gotta say, it left a lot to be desired. The stalls had very uneven spacing, and it was very easy to damage a golf club on the support beams because some stalls were so narrow. Also, if you were right-​handed and the person next to you was left-​handed, the stalls were so close together that it got to be distracting. The pro shop was extremely small, and the snack bar was like a postage stamp. The markers for yardage were these old, beat-​up signs.
Well now Monterey Park Golf Club is all grown up, and it’s beautiful! The old range was torn down to make a 2-​story golf range. Every stall has a chair, a table, and an automated system that tees up the ball to an adjustable height. You pay for range balls at the pro shop, and they can tell what stalls are open or occupied, and who is about to finish. Amazing. In contrast to Alhambra’s golf range, every stall has tons of space and is well-​lit. At Alhambra, some stalls have good lighting at night, and some do not. Monterey Park’s golf range is also very wide, with lots of targets sprinkled around to give you a challenge.
The new pro shop is probably 10 times bigger than the one it replaced. I’m coming here to practice from now on!
8÷11÷14 update — I played the golf course, and the updates there are also nice. These are proper putting greens! The old ones were so slow. The yardage markers are very clear, and they have created a few sand bunkers to make it more of a challenge. Also, holes #7, #8, and #9 are close to each other, so they have proteced the golfers on #8 with fencing, which is nice. There is a new deck that overlooks the tee shot on #1 and the green of #9, so you can heckle, I mean, wait for your friends with a cold drink in some shade.
