Chicken King Express

My favorite lunch spot!!! The food is awesome. It’s fresh and delicious. The owner is a great guy and has truly created a wonderful restaurant. It’s made fresh, so if your in a rush call ahead and place your order. You have to try this place it’s great!

Great neighborhood Mediterranean food restaurant. Walked in for lunch and ordered the chicken kebab plate. The chicken was flavorful, moist with just a little char, just the way I like it. The plate comes with one skewer, side salad, two pita, and imo great rice. But best of all is the hummus. It’s soooo great! Apparently a family recipe. Incidentally, the owner had a great Spotify mix playing (Chicken King mix) which I really enjoyed while dining in.

Ordered a beef shawerma plate was the worst thing I ever tasted. They put all onions and hardly any meat. Should’ve drove to zankou instead.

This is by far the best Mediterranean food I’ve had. It’s a small little place but people are very hard working. As for the food the portion is a little small for what I’m used to getting at other Mediterranean places but QUALITY beats them. The chicken was cooked perfectly, it was soft juicy and delicious. For my favorite part of the dish, THE HUMMUS! this is the best hummus I have ever had! I don’t know what they do do it but it’s great! You can’t go wrong with this place. Highly recommend chicken kabob plate!

Bomb ass food they gave us an extra quarter of a chicken because they said it was a bit dry but it was tender and great. I guess they hold themselves to great quality. Great stuff!

Chicken King is one of our favorite go –to Mediterranean places. Their chicken is so flavorful and the garlic paste is a must.

This place is pretty good, but not the best I’ve ever had. It’s good for the area, imo.
Ordered the chicken skewers plate, which came with rice, salad, and hummus with pita.
The chicken was dry and the rice tasted like uncle ben’s.
Peter K. got the half rotisserie chicken and it was 10x better than mine. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. Note: if you do decide to order the rotisserie chicken, call ahead to place your order.

Eaten here several times. The flavor of the food is always good, but for some reason the chicken always seems a little burnt on the outside, something we haven’t encountered at other Mediterranean restaurants. The employees are always nice and courteous.

I initially came here because I wanted to eat Mediterranean food but I saw the great pictures of the rotisserie chicken and side dishes that I couldn’t help myself will order some small side. Well the Mediterranean food was okay… the rotisserie chicken, the mac and cheese, the mashed potatoes were off the hook! so I will definitely be back just for that alone… I can skip the Mediterranean. they definitely have dibs on calling it Chicken King. They also have great garlic butter as well. Good for takeouts

Went there again recently. This time the chicken was really dry. The skin was very crisp and flavorful. Perhaps it has just been sitting in the warmer for too long.

It pains me to not give any Mediterranean kind of food place a perfect rating as I’m a huge fanatic for that type of cuisine.
Well… This place falls short.
The food is just decent and the pricing is a bit steep for such mediocre food.
The chicken I got was a bit dry and the salad wasn’t anything special. I opted to sub my rice for salad and that did cost extra, though other places don’t charge for that.
I definitely want to give this place another try… Some day.

Likely I bear some onus for my two star rating as I purchased my takeout meal shortly after opening time. This restaurant is likely better later in the day after fresh food has been prepared. I ordered a roasted chicken family meal. The chicken was dry, likely leftovers from the previous days roasting effort. No evidence of freshly roasting chickens. The pita bread was likely leftover as well. Using up the older product is practical I guess. The restaurant business is tough these days. Hard times. I will say that the humus was good as was the garlic sauce/​butter. The restaurant was empty. Perhaps hard times? Perhaps it does a better business later in the day. Anyway, I’m done. There are other local alternatives.

I had lunch here with two of my girlfriends last week. I can’t wait to go back. Too bad, I live far away, but the drive is worth it. All the meats were tender and exquisite,. Out of their menu, we tried three of their appetizers, and each one was so so good, just mouthwatering.
If you like Mediterranean food, you will love Chicken King Express.
If you’ve never tried Mediterranean food, you have to try these guys!

I was a little surprised when I called the place only to be informed that they don’t do delivery anymore. The guy on the phone said they used to deliver 4 months ago and now stopped until they can «figure it out». I will tell you how to do it — step 1. Get in your car. Step 2. Drive to the desired destination. Step 3. Deliver the food to the front door. You’re welcome.
The food was very good quality. I got the family meal with the whole chicken. Comes with a side of rice, salad, hummus, garlic spread and pita chips. For only $ 25. The portions are ginormous compared to, say, El Pollo Loco. Awesome deal. One other thing threw me off though. They did not include any utensils with our order. Kind of strange, most restaurants do. Anyway, great place, will definitely be back.

The chicken here continues to impress! I recently was planning on having friends over on a blazing hot Sunday. I wasn’t going to cook on such a hot day. I knew the perfect solution was to pick three family meals. I was sad that they wouldn’t be open on Sunday. Undeterred, I picked up the chicken on Saturday. I gave my guests the option to heat it in the microwave or just have it cold. Most of them opted for the cold because it was so hot outside. Everyone raved about how flavorful and moist the chicken was. It was so good! I will not hesitate to do this again.
Shanti asked me to give him 3 hours notice for all of that food, so please do the same if you are having a large order.

Small little spot tucked away in Monrovia, nothing fancy but the food is great! I’ve never ate here and always have gotten to go but to be honest, it seems like most of their customers get to go because the place is small and not too filled but always super busy with cooking.
I always get the family combo and it comes with two skewers of each of chicken, beef and sausages on top of pita bread. A box of garlic rice, large salad, hummus AND a small bag of fresh pita bread! All for $ 22.99! It’s enough to feed 3 – 4. The rice and salad are all big portions and meat is a decent amount as well. The pita bread that holds all of the meat skewers soak up all the sexy juices and so you get this fluffy delicious bread with all the amazing flavors and juices. .Is it getting hot and heavy in here or is it just me?
I definitely recommend this combo if it’s your first visit because you get to try three meats and you also get a big container of salad to balance out the heaviness. Oh! I forgot to mention that you do get two small containers of garlic paste with the combo. Be careful because it is EXTREMELY garlicky so plan your sexy time accordingly~
The rice is a garlic rice that has bits of fried. noodle? Fried ginger? I still haven’t been able to figure it out, but all I know is the rice is amazing and if I don’t portion out the food I probably can finish the whole family combo myself and hulk out of my clothes. The hummus is so good with the rice, I think I can eat those two things by itself and be content with my entire existence for that small beautiful time frame.

The staff kindly reminded me to be careful of the foil folded into the wrap. I sure won’t want that in my stomach, thank you~
good portions for lunch, the beef wrap was super juicy, not enough garlic spread IMO, but i added some more from the chicken plate. The chicken is juicy as well, hummus is smokey, pickles and the garlic spread is potent and delicious. The cold eggplant stew reminds me of this briami I had piping hot. A very refreshing complement.

Friendly great hole in the wall middle eastern/​Persian food. Everything from rottisserie chicken to kabobs to wraps. Really good food at reasonable prices.
I am a fan of zankou but chicken king steps up and is a great alternate to z chicken. I like the hummus here even more. Chicken is done just right served with hummus and pickles or your choice of rice.
I will definitely be back for kebabs. They also have a number of salads as well as family meals. They also cater and have seating as well. Plenty of parking (I hate the parking at z chicken in Pasadena).
Really nice to see a smaller competitor to z chicken that delivers the goods. Hail the king!
