dealt with their «transmission specialist» (I’ll be nice and not mention names). thought I had a transmission issue– squeaking under the hood so I took it to T&S. got a call the next day and apparently my only options were: 1) paying 1,900 for a used tranny with install or 2) 2,500 for a rebuild of my current tranny. I wanted a second opinion and my girlfriend’s brother has a friend at Trans-​medic in Gresham.
It took their transmission mechanic 1 day (It was a through the weekend so I’m sure it would have been sooner) to diagnose my car. MY TRANSMISSION WAS PERFECT!.. well. it needed a flush and he took care of that with an inspection and only charged me 50.00. he let me know that my brakes were the issue, so off I went to affordable tire and brake in SE Hawthorne and they fixed it right up. NO SQUEALING AT ALL!!!
I should be calling the better business bureau, but i’m a Unilocal-​er for life.

Purchased the three (3) oil changes for the price of one. 1^st visit, excellent, after 2^nd visit, found my oil cap was off and sitting under the hood, 3^rd visit, I was told the oil change would take ’15 minutes’ and nearly two (2) hours later after telling them I need to leave «stop my service» they finally told me that they were waiting on an oil filter and had to go to the store to get it. I was the first appointment that morning. I found this very unprofessional– the situation was handled poorly.

There are hundreds of automotive/​mechanic shops in any sizable metro area, so how do you choose one? And when you do, how do you know they’re going to be honest and not try to rip you off? The age-​old question when it comes to finding a mechanic. I ended up at this place because of the Supersaver Card I got through one of the «Groupon-​style» services (as a matter of fact, it probably was Groupon). Three free oil changes plus a whole slew of other appealing services for $ 33… sign me up. However, before I bought the card, I checked around a bit to see if there were any bad of reviews of the place and since I didn’t find anything, I went ahead with it.
Anyway, I called ahead for an appointment and got one set up for three days later. It was a bit tricky to find the place at first because my GPS app couldn’t locate the address, but it’s on the outskirts of Milwaukie off 99E; sort of in the Oak Grove/​Gladstone area near the Les Schwab. Turn into the driveway by the tobacco place and you’ll see it. First impressions of the place were good. Small, clean waiting area with a TV, couch, and free coffee. The guys working there seem friendly, efficient, and honest. They didn’t try to pressure me into other services outside of my free Supersaver oil change. I did ask them to install some replacement drive belts that I bought a few weeks ago, which they charged me about $ 60 for. Seemed fair given the fact that you have to remove the driver’s side wheel and cowling to access the belts… something that would probably take me an hour or more to do at home. I waited for the job to be done and was there for about an hour.
A while after I left, my onboard computer told me I needed a tire rotation. Bummer that it didn’t tell me that before I got to the place the first time, but I called them back to see if they could squeeze that in (my Supersaver Card has three free tire rotations on it, too). They couldn’t do it right away and asked me to come back at two-​thirty, which I did. Job done in about 15 minutes. My wife was with me that time and even she said «I like this place. They seem nice.» So, there you go, female stamp of approval to boot!
