Quaint neighborhood deli/bakery joint. I used to stop in a lot more then the recent because I ABSOLUTELYLOVE their carrot cake!!! But every time I stop in they don’t have it. :( … Really disappointing because I look forward to it when I come in… And there’s none to be found. The young lady that works in the afternoons during the week though is an absolute sweetheart!!! She is very talkative and friendly which makes the visit enjoyable. She makes a damn good sandwich too. Every time I stop in she’s been by herself so I give her huge props cause she’s running the whole show. My one annoyance with this place lately is something is always broken, missing, or out! I understand it’s hard to keep a small business running smoothly nonetheless fixing thousands of dollars worth of equipment, but consistency is SO important! So please owners, bakers and managers who are in charge of producing the products… Get carrot cake back on those shelves. Lol. I promise I’ll stop In every week… Maybe even everyday!!!

I am only giving 1 star because 0 stars isn’t an option! We are so disappointed in our first visit to Scardina Bakery & Delicatessen yesterday afternoon at 2:30 pm, that we will NEVER return to this establishment. Upon entering this business, we were not greeted with a hello. The first person who spoke to us, was a young girl who immediately responded to us, ”We don’t have pizza right now, I’m not making any pizzas” — This comment was made to us while we were looking at what seemingly appeared to be the only menu, which was a menu board with all of the pizzas that are offered. We were craving an Italian style deli sandwich, yet we had never been here before, and we actually planning on ordering 2 sandwiches, and taking a pizza with us when we left. There was no sandwich menu on paper too look at, nor a sandwich menu board. The first girl was extremely rude, and not helpful, even when I told her it was our first time there, she simply called another girl out when we said we’d be okay just ordering sandwiches. The second girl finally came out, again, very impolite, all she said to us was«What kind of sandwich do you want?» We had not seen a menu, there was no menu on a wall, nor a board. Obviously I asked, what kind of Italian sandwiches do you have and she only said, «You pick your meats & you pick your cheese». Are you kidding me??? That’s all you can say to a brand new customer at your business? She did not list the meats, the cheeses, and we have NO idea what types of breads they have available, as she said nothing else, she literally pointed to the meats and cheeses! I would feel 100% differently if these girls had been foreign, or spoken with an Italian accent. If that were the case, I would have spoken Italian back to them, as both of us are ½ Italian. These girls have ZERO customer service skills, and they should realize, we would have bought 2 sandwiches, and taken a large pizza to go with us. We also would have returned in the future at some point. Neither of us will visit your restaurant, and I will tell everyone, on Unilocal,Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram NOT to visit Scardina Bakery & Delicatessen. I have never been this upset before over a visit to a business. Craving an Italian Deli style sandwich is not like craving a cheeseburger, one can get a great cheeseburger at 20 different locations, Italian deli sandwiches, not so much. You lost 2(any many more I am sure) faithful customers! Yesterday and any day in the future, we will say that Glorioso’s Deli is our favorite Italian deli! We had to drive another 20 minutes, but we had great food, and were treated like royalty. Shame on you Scardina’s for hiring such impolite and unhelpful employees which reflect your business. As a business owner all I would like to say, be happy you don’t work for me, I would fire both of these girls on the spot if I were to witness such ill-treatment. This is especially bothersome to me, as it was after any lunch rush being 2:30 pm. I’ll also mention, no one else was in there, we were the ONLY two customers. Understandably people get stressed, I worked in a restaurant & retail while in college & high school; however, there is NEVER any excuse to treat a customer poorly and to not be helpful, when I had told both girls it was our first time there. Addio Scardina’s! Chiameremo il nostro nuovo deli preferito Glorioso’s!

I wanted some good bread so I went here. The place looks kind of empty food wise. It’s got hot and cold food with an eating area. It’s the emptiest deli I have ever seen. The menu board caught my eye. Prosciutto and cheese cold sub. After being disappointed with Angelina’s deli version because the lack of meat for the price I said why not. I opted for the prosciutto with provolone cheese topped with lettuce, onion, tomato, oregano, oil and vinegar on a seeded roll. This was good for $ 4.69. They put a decent amount of meat and it all worked very well together. You don’t see prosciutto subs on a lot of menus so I had to try it and I’m glad I did. See the picture I posted. This will definitely my prosciutto sub place when the fix needs to be taken care of. There is a sign that says you can order a fresh Made Pizza to take home and bake, I might have to try that some time. Starts out at $ 9.50 and I don’t know what size with add toppings for $ 1.00 each. It looked interesting but next time so I have an excuse to go back.

I really like Scardina’s. It’s very unpretentious with nice service. I live some distance from Scardina’s but I go there about monthly. Their baked on sight bread is fantastic. Both breads, with seeds or without, are great and it really depends on your taste or what you happen to fancy when you enter the store. The aromas captivate you. They recently remodeled by opening up the space more and offering some Italian specialty items. A good day for me is going to Scardina’s to get my bread and baked treats and then sitting down with a sandwich(sub sandwich, meatball, Italian sausage, you name it they are all good) and a San Pellegrino Limonata and enjoying a nice little meal there before I head home. Tip: get the Italian bread with seeds for your sub sandwich.

AMAZING sandwiches, meats & bread. Several coworkers and I stop in here on a regular basis for sandwiches. The homemade deli salads are good, especially Lynn’s potato salad. The cannolis(?spelling) are homemade, also, and are the best around. Friendly ladies top off the experience.

I’m guilty of being in a hurry and that forces me to make hasty decisions like going to a chain grocery store for bakery because I forgot that there are two great family owned bakeries within half a mile of my house. Shame, shame, shame Ricky! Scardina’s is one of those great bakeriers that I plan to do a better job of remembering. I picked up some canolis for a diner hosted by friends and they were delicious, also very reasonably priced. Scardina’s also makes their own Italian sausage and pizzas, which I plan to try some time soon. I’ll let you know how they are, but check them out if you’re in the area, and let me know if you get to the sausage and pizza before I do.

I would truly love to give Scardina’s a better rating because we have been a long time customer of theirs, I’m talking I was eating their products close to 30 years ago now! However within the past decade or so we have seen that place go from a wonderful upbeat«Italian» welcoming attitude to downright nasty customer service. Almost everyone working there is crabby and I have even listened to conversations between employees about how annoyed they are they have to be there. That being said, The bakery is wonderful, we absolutely love the hot ham on Sunday’s and we have had the pleasure of their wedding cakes many years ago. I truly wish this place would take more pride in the appearance of their store these days as well as the attitudes of their employees. It is making me turn to other Italian Bakeries instead.

We stop here for bread and hot ham on Sunday’s, but there’s not much else in this place. They used to have more selection and some groceries, but now most shelves and coolers are empty. The hot ham on Sunday was good.

I love the food they have here. The meatball subs are cheap and incredible! Generous meatballs melty cheese and their oh so wonderful bread. Here is the problem, 75% of the time I go there the staff is put out they have to wait on you. I have been waited on with complete indifference and I have been waited on with simmering, barely contained attitude. I am always suprised when I receive good service here, I’ve grown so accustomed to the horrible attitude that seems to pervade the employees. I’ve vowed more times than I can count not to return, only to have that damn meatball sub call to me like a siren song. Their baked items are good, but I frankly I can go to Peter Scortino’s for equal quality bakery. Really it’s the meatball sub and the proximity to my home that keeps me returning. I can’t say how much longer though, the staff is truly terrible to deal with.
