I am a huge fan of this shop. My grandma(who was born in 1911 and passed just two years ago) was the one who turned me on to Freese’s candy shop. When I need something special and something«from home» to gift a friend or family member, I automatically think of Freese’s. It’s quality and it’s made right here where I live. I LOVE the truffles and my husband knows that if he ever wants to impress me with chocolates, he NEEDS to go to Freese’s. Besides being completely delectable, I have such a nostalgic feel for this shop. My family has bought candies from here for 3 generations and now my own children know and love Freese’s as well. So yeah, 4 generations of Freese’s fans! :-) Oh, and my dad who is from Germany and is very biased when it comes to chocolates, loves their chocolates as well.

I’m a bit of a chocolate snob. I am. I admit it. Hershey’s bars and M&M’s have their place(S’mores and Monster cookies, respectively), but if I’m going to eat a piece of chocolate, I won’t bother unless it’s good stuff. Freese’s has good stuff. It’s everything a chocolate shop should be and nothing that it shouldn’t. Lots of chocolates. Lots of options. Some dietary restriction options. Little white boxes to take them home in. Nothing overly fussy or fancy here, just good chocolate and in the forms and shapes and colors that you’d expect for the most part. I mean, I don’t need my chocolate to have golden shimmer swirls on it to make it taste delicious. It’s a small, family run business and the folks are always friendly inside. It’s ok if you just want one of everything, they’ll make it happen for you. Maybe I don’t buy enough chocolate at one time, but I’m always surprised by how reasonable(for good chocolate) the prices are. You can’t find many old-fashioned(read: proper) chocolate shops anymore and Freese’s is one of a dying breed. I’ll do my part to keep it going, but you all should, too. I bet you know someone who likes chocolate…
