Advantage Moving and Storage

I recently used Advantage moving to move out of my townhouse where I had been living for over thirty years into a new home. They helped me finish packing, especially difficult things like dishes and electronics, as well as the shelves and shelves of books I own. They did a terrific job, and didn’t lose or damage anything. And they came in under their estimate, which was already quite reasonable. I recommend them highly.

I recently used Advantage Moving and Storage to temporarily move out of my condo to have carpet replaced. Being a wheelchair user with too much stuff, I knew I would need extra help packing and making sure things were correctly placed at the end.
Because they were Diamond Certified, I asked Advantage Moving and Storage for a quote. Owner Brian came out and suggested a big way they could save me money by keeping my items on my belongings on the truck while the work was being done. Brian gave me a worst case estimate and my ending bill was considerably less. (I was able to pack more than expected.)
The movers came at a time best for me, took time to understand what was needed and then got to work. They expertly packed my printers and televisions. My boxes were loaded with care. Bookcases were disassembled and moved out. My ratty old couch and all furniture was carefully wrapped and protected from damage.
Boxes were returned and placed so they were out of my way. Furniture was placed in a new arrangement per my request. Bookcases were assembled and attached to the wall for safety. My 1,200 volumes were placed back in the bookcases.
The movers turned what should have been a stressful event into a memorable event. They are hard-​working but also considerate, respectful, knowledgeable and are great to work with.

Brian came to our house to give us an estimate to move a family of four from one house to another in Livermore, CA. He was very professional and offered a quote that ended up being pretty close to what we actually paid. On moving day two crews arrived with two trucks. The crews were very courteous and professional. They covered all of the floors and were very careful. Everything was loaded up without any incident. The crew was easy to communicate with and they understood our concerns and needs. At the new house they covered the floors and placed everything where we asked it to be. The amazing part was watching them move an enormous washing machine and pedestal up a staircase without incident! At the end of the move it took fewer hours than the estimate so we ended up paying less. I have had horrible moving experiences before but this was by far the best one I have ever had. I would not hesitate to call Advantage again or to recommend them to my friends.

Moved on November 22^nd. Advantage arrived on time ready to work. We did a walk-​through to establish expectations of what is to be moved and they got right to work. They were cautious and careful with all items. Everything needing protection was generously wrapped with protective blankets.
The move in was just as smooth as the move out. They placed items where we wanted them and not one item was damaged.
The entire process was 4 hours (we did all the prep packing of items to be moved).
The price was very resonable for the level of service.
Would use Advantage again in a heartbeat.

We selected Advantage Moving after calling 5+ other moving companies on quotes, and Advantage falls right in the middle. I picked them because of where they’re located (grew up in Milpitas), their price, availability, patience and friendliness over the phone. There were no hidden costs. 3 guys came (on time, very professional and efficient). We moved from a tri-​level townhome to a 1 story SFH, all done within 6 hours.
In the end, nothing was broken, damaged or missing. The final price was on par with the original quote. I would highly recommend this company without any reservations.

We contacted 3 moving companies for our local move. Only Advantage seemed to think it was a normal practice to provide a written estimate. Their estimates also are «not to exceed» amounts. Our move ended up being 1.5 hours shorter than forecast so our final bill was properly adjusted.
The crew was very nice & efficient. Everything arrived in the same condition as we packed it… nothing broken or even scratched.

First time to experience Movers and I was lucky to get this guys really nice and price are reasonable thank you so much.

Brian was very friendly and honest when he came to give an estimate and Matt and his crew were awesome during our move from Milpitas to Merced.
They were super professional but still friendly: totally beat expectations and I would absolutely recommend them for any move, no matter how big or small.

We selected Advantage Moving for our recent move from San Jose CA to Henderson NV. We recommend them highly, without reservation. We paid for a full pack-​and-​move service, and wanted a guaranteed delivery date. Brian’s estimate was fair and affordable, and they were able to schedule the dates we wanted.
Edwin and his packing crew were superb: efficient, careful, and personable. We have a number of antiques, artwork, and collectibles which we were anxious about; Edwin assured me that I would be pleased with his packing, and once we unpacked things in our new home we realized how true a statement that was. Our 3-​bedroom household was loaded the next day and delivered to our new home two days later, exactly as we asked. The crew clearly CARED about our belongings and our comfort during the move out/​in, and were easy to work with. There’s really nothing they could have done better.
Not a single item was broken, damaged, or lost during the move; it was on time and under estimate; the crew members were efficient, strong, cheerful, and careful: what more can you ask? It was a surprisingly easy out-​of-​state move for us, and that’s directly attributable to the excellent staff at Advantage. We will recommend this firm as often as we can.

They were on time, and did an excellent job. There were no extra or hidden charges. And, they provided free (used) boxes from their warehouse in Milpitas!

Have used them previously and decided to use them again for my new move because of the great experience. Showed up on time, moved very quickly. As one of the reviewers said, there was no chitchat among themselves and only took a quick 5 minute break.
What impressed me most was their ability to disassemble and reassemble my Balinese king size bed that had a super heavy headboard. Reassembly was done under an hour (the last time it took 1.5 hrs) !
They completed the job in 5.50 hrs. They quoted me 7.5 hours (a not to exceed price). That saved me a bundle. They are competitively priced and one that is serious enough about their business to make the effort to come out and give a quote.

Very reasonable prices, friendly service. The quote they give you is the price you pay!
The young men who showed up were courteous and helpful, they wrapped the furniture, took their time, put furniture in the right spots and put the beds back together! Nothing was broken and all the storage items were inventoried and were in excellent condition.
I had three quotes and they were also the cheapest.

After interviewing six movers around the Bay Area we selected Advantage Moving for our move. This was a local move inside San Jose area. Brian came over on time for the estimate and was very thorough. His «not to exceed» price quote was the most reasonable of the bunch.
Advantage was also very accommodating on the move schedule. Originally we had penciled in a Monday. However, another job came in and took Monday before I returned the contract. So they moved me to Sunday. This pushed our packing schedule a bit, but was much better than pushing the date out later into the week.
Having enough boxes is a challenge when moving a 5 bedroom house. Chitra offered to let us come pick up as many boxes as we needed from their dispatch center in Milpitas. This was a huge time saver, not to mention also saving the cost of buying this many boxes.
Edwin and the moving team arrived exactly on time Sunday morning. The team, consisting of four movers, was a pleasure to work with and move went without a hitch. Actually finished a bit sooner than quoted and the price was adjusted accordingly.

We were very happy with Brian and the service his guys provided for our move from CA to NC. From the initial walkthrough, estimate, packing & loading, to the delivery in NC, everything was very professional.

Very professional through and through. Brian came and provided an estimate. Ended up using them for packing as well as moving. Reasonably priced.
Crew came on time and worked almost non-​stop. Got the job done right and on time. I hope we do not need to move again, but if we do, we will go with Brian and Advantage anytime.

I needed help moving and found Advantage Moving & Storage via Unilocal.I called the number and spoke to Chitra who was very friendly and helped me estimate the amount of time and number of movers needed. She also was very thorough and patient in answering all my questions. When I decided to book, Chitra sent me the contract via email in order to officially book the appointment.
On moving day, Edwin, Giovanni, and Irvin came on time with a huge truck. They also provided many wardrobe boxes for us to use at no additional charge. I initially only wanted them to move all my large furniture and I would take all the small stuff myself but they were so fast and efficient they even helped me pack all my shoes, clothes, and garage supplies into all those wardrobe boxes. They were always friendly, upbeat, talkative, and moved even my heaviest boxes with ease. There would be so many times were I would be struggling to lift a box and one of them would come by with a smile and lift it out of my hands without me asking. When we arrived to unload at my new place, they were very careful in not scratching my new bamboo floors and not denting the walls and stairway. My bed frame and dining table were installed and they hooked up my fridge, washer and dryer without any problems.

Used the moving service multiple times — movers did a professional job each time.
Used the storage service for multiple months. The couldn’t provide me proof on how many bins my stuff actually filled (which they said was more than the estimate by the movers) and required that if I wanted to know, they could pull out the bins and open them, but that I would be charged a per bin price to do it. I even asked for a picture to be emailed, but that was rebuffed. The last straw was it turns out they lost some nuts and bolts to a piece of furniture (rendering it unusable), which I discovered after having items moved out of storage.
Contacted the company; referred to management. We had a disagreement on what happened and the conversation got to the point where he dared me to post a bad review and said he didn’t care if I did because they already have alot of good reviews anyways. Did I hear that correctly? Yes I did. Right now they are lucky (but they don’t care anyways) I haven’t filed anything with BBB or Diamond Certified, although I did ask for the forms to fill out.
In any case, I had to continually follow up with them despite promises of looking into it, even after I provided proof they had lost the bits. They moved so slow on remedying the issue, I just ended up finding someone to help me fix it since I needed to use the furniture, not let it sit there for months.
Workers are great, but management needs customer service training.

I moved here in 2006 from Chicago and since that time I’ve moved 5 times, and I’ve used Advantage every single time. I can’t even remember how I found them back in 2007 but I’m so glad I did. Every move I’ve had they’ve shown up on time, they were fast, efficient, friendly… I’ve never paid more than what was quoted and I’ve never had one thing broken. This last move, though, is what finally prompted a review:
I was moving from a townhouse into a single family. In the years we lived in that townhouse we accumulated a ton of stuff (including one baby). I had crap in places I didn’t even know was a storage spot. Anyway, I decided to have Advantage pack my kitchen as well. The estimator came over (she’s fantastic), did a walk through, looked at my kitchen and emailed me the list and quote (the «you-don’t-pay-more-than» quote). She was estimating my 3 bedroom move to take 4 – 5 hours, which seemed reasonable to me as my other moves (from 2 bedroom apts) were 2 – 4 hours, and this was a local move (same town).
The guys (3 man team) showed up on time, I had coffee and bagels waiting, we walked through, pointed everything out and they got started. I knew there was a problem when we reached the 2 hour mark and not even half the house was loaded yet. They were busting their butts, too… no one sat around, no one slacked — they worked the whole time. I think packing my kitchen, alone, took 2 hours. One guy packed, the other guys loaded. Like I said, they are efficient.
Well, this was so not a 4 – 5 hour move. I think we left for my new house sometime around the 4 hour mark. They looked exhausted but never complained and always had a smile on their face. We had pizza waiting for lunch and they hardly even took a break (I felt so bad!)…they jammed some food in and kept on working. They eventually got everything unloaded, set up the beds, etc., and were on their merry way. From start to finish, 8 hours. But true to their word, I only paid what was quoted. I feel like I totally ripped them off. I gave them all the cash I had for a tip (I think it was $ 120) but I should have doubled that.
The point of this review is not to say «hey use them, you’ll pay only half!,» it’s just to say how wonderful they are and even though everyone there that day knew I was totally getting a bargain, they still busted their butts. Not one complaint about how much crap there was, there were always smiles, they joked around with my 2 yr old. It’s a great company with great employees and they’ve always treated me with respect, no matter my size of move. I can’t say enough about good things about Advantage. I don’t plan on moving again any time soon but I recommend them to everyone I know.

Desperately need movers when we had to move out from our apartment to our condo in 2 days, I Unilocal-​ed «the best moving company» near Milpitas/​San Jose. Most on the list are without the real address (office), just a phone. Well, I am more comfortable to deal with someone with real office. So I checked on Advantage, then went straight to their office without appointment. The guys in the office accepted my visit with respect and friendly but professional. The owner himself was there, Brian. He asked some basic questions, like how many bedroom, what’s the biggest items, etc. Then he gave me an estimate of 3.5 hours to move my entire stuffs with 2 people. Not more, he said. I got a discount, too. I told him I need it fast, like the day after tomorrow. Then he offered, why not tomorrow? I was liked crying in happiness. I left his place with relief.
The very next day, the movers came on time with a big truck. Giovanni and Eduardo (I might be wrong remembering their name, been 2 months, so sorry). Omgz, these guys so strong, fast and worked non-​stop. They also very careful and respectful handling our properties. I ran to buy them drinks and Mark’s hotdogs, thinking they must be hungry after lifting our king size Tempurpedic like nothing! They done in 3.25 hours. 15 minutes early than the estimate time. Nothing was broken or chipped. Very pleased with the service. So pleasant to do business with Advantage. Courteous, friendly, professional, no BS. And, they have real office. :)
