History

Established in 1978.

Millbrae Lock was started in response to a need in San Mateo County, for good quality workmanship at a reasonable price, and with a professional attitude. First opened in 1978 out of a basement on Glenwood Drive, our company quickly grew to a 200 square foot El Camino location. Over the years, we moved several times, (all within the same block of El Camino!) as our need for space grew. We now have over 1400 square feet, housing the most modern and computerized equipment in the industry. Our staff also has over 100 years of experience, collectively.

Born and raised in Millbrae, this is no newcomer to the area! Mr. Bruce started the business in 1978 while finishing up the acquisition of a degree in business administration from San Francisco State Univ. He has achieved the highest level of locksmith certification through the Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOA). As a Certified Master Locksmith, customers can be rest-​assured of the highest quality lock service. While presiding over the growth of this 30 plus year security business, Vernon, (Vern as he is commonly known), has also been very active in the community. He has been the President of the Millbrae Chamber of Commerce, the Millbrae-​San Bruno Kiwanis Club, and the Millbrae Historical Society. He has also held several other positions in those, and other, organizations. His volunteer work includes chairing the Millbrae Art & Wine Festival, helping form the Millbrae Farmer’s market, starting the Millbrae Train Museum, and numerous other activities.

I received good service. The man guaranteed the key he made me. Said if it didn’t work to bring it back and if on the third try it still didn’t work they would come out and make me a key, no charge. Luckily the key worked perfectly the first time. I will definitely come back for my future needs.

Extremely disappointment will Millbrae Lock. I never expected this would have happened if I knew I would never come here for my service. Firstly they don’t warranty anything they use cheap shell that breaks in 6 months .
Here is my story please read carefully
last year I called Millbrae locked told them that my key shell broke and the programming is good inside I went on eBay and bought the right shell went there they told me they if you use this there is no guarantee this will work. they charged me $ 77 for the key. 8 month later my key shell broke again the one I used from the store. I called them they told me to come we will take care of this never knew that they would charge me another $ 77.00 first of all parking is a bitch to find they I had to make 5 rounds the block to find parking they I had to tall to William and he told me there is nothing I can do about this and started blaming on Honda. Hello this is the reason I came to you in first place if not I would have gone to Honda and they would have charge me $ 145. if I were you I would never used their service because if they cant help me they cant help you. I will remove the review if u take care of this problem ASAP. Total loss for me.

I called at 1 and they were there by 2:30. Rekeyed 4 locks and by coincidence my management office uses them too! Double bingo:).
Adam came in, was professional, replaced all the necessary locks to make sure it was up to code with our property managers. He gave me an extra free key just for using Unilocal.Double awesome. How can I not Unilocal about this experience? Thanks Adam!!! My next referral or need goes to you.

My BFF had a broken apartment lock emergency with herself outside the apt and her 14-​month old toddler (& my goddaughter) inside.
Rescued by Milbrae Lock and unnoticed by the napping girlie, everything worked out but for the brush with panic. Cost? 0 $ –because they have no-​charge policy for such calls when a little one is locked indoors.
I deal with emergency planning for a living and I commend this policy and this company for having a heart and being good neighbors/​community members.

Highly recommended! The lock in my doorknob broke and I was locked out of my apartment at 8:30 PM. My 14 month old daughter was inside sleeping. I told them on the phone that my baby was inside and the guy arrived in about 15 minutes. My doorknob is old and it took about half an hour for him to get my door open. The whole time, he kept me updated and talked with me just enough to keep me from panicking. When he was finished and I asked how much it cost he told me, «We don’t charge when there is a child in the house.» Wow!
He was great, got me back in with my baby, and did it as a courtesy. I will definitely bring any business I can to Millbrae Lock.

I was locked out of my room at 9pm. I was about the knock down the door when I thought to look for a locksmith that was open. 15 minutes later Millbrae lock is at my door. 5 minutes later, my room was open (and I was down $ 135). Expensive, but what else do you expect from a late night service like this. Great customer service too!

Got in my car this morning and realized I had left my keys in the house! And all windows and doors were locked up tight and secure. After a quick search found Millbrae Locke at 7am. Amazingly someone answered and he told me he would be over shortly. Within the hour I was back in my house and on my way to work. And even though it was an early call, the nice gentleman charged me the normal hour price! Excellent service!

I went to my in-law’s house to try and lubricate a stiff deadbolt lock, only to find that I could not get it to work freely. So, I removed it from the door and brought it to Millbrae Lock to see if I could buy just the portion that was stiff. I did not need a whole new lock. Adam took it to his workbench and came back one minute later with it fixed. I could not believe it so I asked him how he did it and he explained the procedure to me. Not only that, but he told me what to look out for when reinstalling it in the door. I offered to pay him, but he refused to accept any money.
My wife had a good experience with Millbrae Lock earlier this year. Any time I need anything related to locks, I know where I am going.

I give millbrae lock (particularly Adam) five stars for the overall service that was provided to me in such an urgent time.
I had an emergency situation over Labor Day weekend that required my locks to be changed. I spent three hours trying to do it on my own but because of a «warped» door I was unsuccessful. I called Millbrae lock, explained my situation and within 30 mins Adam showed up at my door. Told him I was willing to pay whatever it took to get this taken care of and he worked quick and kept it within my small budget.

I’ve had several keys made at Millbrae lock, including a few difficult ones that I wouldn’t have trusted with less reputable, experienced establishments. Customer service is usually pretty good, though not overly friendly.
Only reason that I don’t give them more stars is that I purchased a key ring that turned out to be cheap and broke down after about a month. I took the key ring back with a key I had made. Though I did not ask for a refund, I would have expected them to be a little more sympathetic, perhaps offering me a little discount. But, nothing. Not even «sorry about that»

My neighbor recommended Millbrae Lock after two other companies flaked on me and I’m so glad they came to rekey my lock. Adam is professional, polite and did a great job. There was a minor delay and Vern came to the rescue however patience is great especially when it comes to the security of your pad.
For those who live in the Shelter Creek community don’t look for a fake locksmith… Millbrae Lock is a true business, very knowledgeable and resonable in price. Highly recommend this local business… thank you Adam and Vern!!!

Thank you Millbrae Lock!!! This past weekend my wife accidentally locked herself out of our house while I was away. I called all around town trying to find a trustworthy locksmith (trust me you need the best in this profession). I had heard this horror story on NPR awhile back (
) about fake locksmiths conning people out of money. I called around town trying to find a locksmith; knowing a little bit about picking I asked a few basic questions to the other companies (none of which I really felt comfortable with), not to mention they said it would be HOURS before they could be there.
I finally came across Millbrae Lock who could be there within 10 minutes and seemed very knowledgeable. So I agreed to let them come rescue my wife for a reasonable fee (it was a holiday so the charge was a bit more than usual). My wife called me within 5 minutes to let me know they arrived, and she kept me up to date with his progress. Within a few minutes he had successfully picked the lock with no damage to the lock or door. The gentleman (sorry forgot his name) who came out was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and talented (my wife had nothing but great things to say about him). Not only did they pick the lock and let my wife in, they made us a spare key at no additional cost!
If you need a professional, courteous lock smith that you can trust, call these guys! Skip calling everyone else — go straight to the best!!!

A great local neighborhood shop. The kind of place that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy supporting local small businesses. These guys really know what they’re doing. You’ll leave trying to figure out an excuse to support them again.
