My wife and I have purchased from Pence in the past and had a great experience. We decided to visit yet again to purchase a Nissan Pathfinder after we got a letter saying they could lower our payments. We were going to trade in a Kia Sedona that was from Pence. We also asked for the sales representative who sold me a Nissan Rouge named Rhonda because at the time she was extremely helpful and went the extra mile.
When we got to Pence Rhonda came out to see us and pulled a car up for us to test drive but that was pretty much it. We advised we wanted to purchase the car and then the manager said the letter didn’t state that we could lower payment on any car even though the letter gave no specifics. The finance dept did little to anything to try to get a deal done… no pence preferred deal that we received in the past or any real effort to make this happen. All the said was they may be able to make the payments the same and left it at that.
We were able to work with a different dealership and are no longer Pence customers with my wife’s vehicle and once i can leave i will be seeking another dealership.

The Subaru Manager, Ron, and the Sales Consultant, Vinnie S., were great to work with while my wife and I purchased a 2014 Subaru Forester. I’m taking a star off for our initial difficult conversation with a Sales Consultant who was unfamiliar with
and unwilling to entertain the idea that I might already have obtained a price from the dealership online. «I don’t do the Internet» isn’t an acceptable position to take in 2013.

Terrible andthey LIE. Brought SUV in because check engine light was on. I was told it was the transmission and would be $ 4600 to fix. I was told there was a valve that was another $ 400. Went to Auto Zone. Diagnostic there showed emissions leak. Made much more sense. My transmission has no issues wiht slipping gears, stiff or anything else. After I got gas and tightened the gas cap. The check engine light went off and has been off ever since. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON“T WNAT TO BE RIPPED OFF. By the way, they refused to give the $ 150 dollars back for the diagnostic.

I thought I would check out the place for myself.

I walked up and greeted by RHONDA, I believe that;s her name, she was so go getting until we got in her office and the first question of the batt ‘So if I give you a great deal today, will you buy’, I said No and she told me to wait. She left for literally 15 – 20 minutes and came back with someone else. And I couldn’t believe what came out her mouth ‘Here is Darryl, I told him a little bit about what you want. I have another appointment so he will deal with you now, bye’. What the what!!!
So DARRYL LEWIS (seemed new so I gave him a chance). First question, what car, whats the down payment, monthly payments… Ummm, shouldnt she have told you that and how about the car specs??? ‘So how about a sunroof???’, I just finished telling him I wanted a sunroof so why ask me this same question three times with two minutes of each other???
He left four times and came back without any information. I said, all I want is the price of the car, that is it. ‘Oh, ok. So we will take off this amount and give the e– price…’… So what is the dog on cost of the car?! He left again! Then said the manager can’t give quotes.
Never ever ever again will return to this place. Ever!
Oh yeah, and then he lied saying the new grad discount was only 6 months before or after (and it never changes) when the NIssan website clearly states or 2 years prior.

IMO, their service department is bad. Air conditioning broke. have been there twice and shelled out several hundred dollars. Still blowing hot air («we checked the system, no leaks»). Took it to a different place. They located three leaks. Now, having it fixed at the new place.

Received good service and a great price on a new Subaru. Service facility seems small seems only drawback but I have yet to use it.

Basically these guys left a loose part in my engine and did not acknowledge that it could have happened. They did not even view the evidence. Cost me $ 2000. Beware, thank goodness there is another Subaru dealer in Richmond.

I have three words for you– DOUCHE BAG MANAGER.
We went to Pence to test drive a 2008 Subaru, and Ed, the internet manager, was really nice and helpful. After our test drive we went back to the office to discuss trade in value on our car. Everything was going fine, except that it was almost closing time, we hadn’t even done financing yet, and we wanted to leave and come back the next day to finish up the paperwork.
So they started lying to us– first they told us the people in the financing office were almost done and we should wait (15 mins of waiting– they still weren’t out of that office) and then they started trying to get us to fill out all this random paperwork (Even though we had not agreed to buy the car, and hadn’t even figured out what financing we could get!) and when we asked what the paperwork was, Ed said he wanted us to sign it all so we could drive the car home that same night. We didn’t want to do that! The car wasn’t even detailed yet!
Finally we ended up walking out after the sales manager started getting mouthy about the whole thing.
Overall, I found them to be presumptive, pushy, and rude. I really really wanted that Subaru– I’d been waiting for a used model with all the features I wanted to be available in Richmond for over a year. But, I’m glad I stuck with my gut and didn’t buy from Pence.
