History

Established in 2009.

The project centers the spa experience around its original curative element: Water.

The word Spa is an acronym for the Latin phrase Sanus Per Aquam, which stands for Healing Through Waters. In the Viceroy Spa at Icon Brickell we have reached back into antiquity to embrace the original spa concept of open bathing spaces with hot and cold plunge areas. Within the 5,000 square feet Water Lounge, guests are encouraged to immerse themselves in the reflecting pond and the hot and cold plunge pools.

The concept of healing waters is present in our choice of skincare partners as well.

Natural light is an integral part of the design concept. Floor to ceiling windows are present throughout the facility which provide vistas of wide open skies, Brickell Key Island and Key Biscayne. Whether a guest is relaxing in the spa areas or pool side, taking a Spinning class or indulging in a restorative spa treatment, the elements of light and nature are never far away.

Patrick H.

Manager

An industry professional with over 15 years of experience in hospitality, Huey initiated his career working for Ian Schrager Hotels in New York City in the early 1990s.

Huey moved into spa management in 2002 as a Group Sales Manager for Spa Mystique.

After Spa Mystique, Huey was hired as Assistant Spa Director for the opening of the Four Seasons at Westlake Village. While still at Westlake Village, he also assisted with the re-branding of the spa at Four Seasons Manele Bay.

In 2007, Huey transferred to the Four Seasons Las Vegas, where he oversaw the re-launch of the spa that Travel + Leisure magazine named 15^th best in the world for Hotel Spas 2008.

Now at The Spa at Viceroy, Patrick looks forward to the challenge of making the spa a stand-out experience in the competitive Miami market, and «to sharing,» says Huey, «what I and my staff are passionate about: touching people and transforming their lives.»

First off this spa is gorgeousssss– the main desk over looks the cheeky pool waiting area with a gigantic blow glass yellow chandelier, floor to ceiling bookshelves featuring white covered books, lamps, candles and a pop of red flowers. White beds, chaise lounges and antique chairs are strategically places between 2 hot and 1 cold dipping pools with jets and one winding shallow pool. This is the place to relax and wait for your therapist to get you for your service and it’s magic. There is a beverage and refreshment area nearby that i did not get to check out. I will say the jet pools had this foam that kinda looked weird and borderline gross at the end of the day (soap scum?). The locker rooms are equally as decorated, especially the gigantic marble showers and free standing communal table with sinks and wall mirrors. There is a little nook of a desk where the hair dryer is located, however the room gets super hot during the middle of a sunny day and quite humid. While the showers are gorgeous, some had no hooks and a broken towel rack, plus the towels bordering the showers on the ground were soaking wet and never seemed to be refreshed. The lockers are based on 4 number combo used when locked and i got locked out– but there always seemed to be an attendant around to assist with the master key to unlock.
We took a kick ass free spinning class before our treatment and it was definitely a top notch sweat session– ask the spa desk what classes are scheduled while you will be there and take advantage. The studio is modern and the yoga class going on looked great as well.
The facial treatment was amazzzzzing! Dora was my therapist and she was super professional and soothing and instantly put me in a relaxed state. I may even have started snoring. My skin was rejuvenated and glowing and the products used were Babor (i believe?). My best friend had another therapist who was also great (look for Monika K’s review for her name). Parking is valet $ 10 with validation of ticket. You have to go up to the pool of one building and walk out and walk down to another of the 3 buildings (condos and hotel?) and walk into a door at the very end where you see the amazing water views at the end of the infinity pools. Then you find an elevator and take that to the spa. Kind of a schlep but once you see that entrance, you’ll be wowed!

The worst massage I ever had. The «experienced masseuse» kept hitting the same spots in my shoulders over and over for an hour. So annoying.
He kept telling me about the muscle structure of the body yet missed the mark every time. No connection. Strength doesn’t make a good masseuse. Horrible.
I wish I could get back my time.
The manager did nothing to make amends at all either. There are a multitude of amazing spas in Miami. Skip this one and head elsewhere.

What a deliciously indulgent day! We took advantage of the last weekend of Miami Spa Month — $ 99 for a 50-minute tropical massage. The spa itself is a bit of a maze and a walk to get to from the main entrance (take the elevator to the 15^th floor, walk to the end of the pool, then take the elevator down to 14) but the ambiance is luxurious and the décor beautiful all around: simple, clean and sophisticated with pops of color.
The best thing to do is make a full day out of it: all the facilities and fitness classes are complimentary for spa guests, so I enjoyed an invigorating yoga class, lunch by the pool, the sauna and steam room, and of course the floating library/waiting area. My favorite part is the floor to ceiling windows with gorgeous views of the bay.
The massage itself was relaxing and they offer a variety of aromatherapeutic lotions to choose from. The rooms are surprisingly small, but it doesn’t really make a difference since you’re just laying there anyway. I thought the facilities were clean, the staff friendly and the locker rooms spacious and well-stocked with amenities.
Areas of opportunity: extra towels inside the locker room, hot water in the showers, and a glass of champagne would’ve been nice.

The Spa. Well I will say that the décor was very pleasing. It was not the best I had been to but it did what was needed that day.
The likes:
The massage therapist was very friendly and hands on. He did a good job with a medium pressure touch.
The waiting pool inside was very pleasing and comfortable. They had hot and cold water pools. The décor was very nice and the view was great.
Most of the staff was friendly
They had tea or water readily available
Made our way up to the main pool after, had a dip and then lunch, that was very nice and wasn’t too bad for the prices.
The dislikes:
It was a maze to get the the spa and when you got to the door, you had to walk through workout areas, not a very relaxing feel
The waiting pool had an over look of people walking by to go the gym. I didn’t like that i couldn’t sit in a pool in peace without someone walking over me and being able to look down at us. Again not very comfortable
A particular staff member was sort of rude to me after she handed me a washcloth with on it and when it fell while she was handing it to me, she was walking away telling me to watch the Ice like pick it up. That wasn’t very nice.
At other high end spas, there is typically champagne and other beverages available to guest, maybe fruit as well, but this one had none of that.
The staff said they didn’t have cash and told us its because everyone pays with CC. I think this is silly. You should always be prepared for cash paying patrons. This is the city of strippers and waiters. come on now.
Other than that, I had a good time. Next time I have a spa day however, I will most likely go some place else.

No doubt the Viceroy is grandiose, luxurious and impressive. It’s on the 15^th floor with beautiful views of Biscayne Bay and Brickell Key. It has an amazing murano glass chandelier, floor to ceiling bookshelves lined with books covered in white, and hot/cold pools that when all are functioning can be pretty cool. If you want to call this the macdaddy of spas– you probably can except aside from all this posh– the relaxation lounge lacks a little intimacy and the registration area overlooks it– which to me adds to the look but takes away from the privacy. In either case, the spa is so stunning that most people would probably not care.
So I’ve been to this particular spa three times. with my second experience being the absolute favorite as it was tied in to an out of this world male masseusse, but that is not always the case so if you find a good one… remember the name and ask for it every time– which was my mistake. Also, because these hot/cold pools are for residents use as well– they can sometimes get a little crowded, and just a tad loud. Depending on the day, you may find yourself sharing the space with a small gang of friends; if you’re friendly and don’t care– the more the merrier.
Definitely a beautiful spa, definitely picturesque and jaw-dropping and definitely a must-do if you’re looking to spa.

I don’t even know where to begin, so let’s start from beginning. The viceroy is a hotel, spa, and residence. One of my vendors decided to take me to a spa day so I decided to google «best spas of Miami» and this one came up. I called and booked two massages and two facials for a Friday.
You can only valet park and go up to the lobby to get a key to access the building. (Makes you feel kind of special) I took an elevator to the 15^th floor to the pool deck. I had to walk across the pool deck to another elevator to take it to the 14^th floor where the gym and spa are located. I walked down a long white hallway with curtains and found the spa. Wow the image of the hot and cold jacuzzi with the Victorian chairs and library was gorgeous. The background was Miami what beautiful scenery.
I checked in at the front desk, she handed me. Form to fill out and she offered me a hot towel for my hands. Then (the only reason I gave it a 4 star) a lady came to me to show me to the women bathroom. She was so short, rude, and just didn’t seem happy with her job. I asked her where I should meet my masseuse and she rudely said she will find you.
So whatever she handed me a key to a locker and gave me flip flops and a robe. I changed walked out and Yennifer was waiting for me to take me to my massage. She was great asked me what pressure I wanted and all. The only thing is I felt the massage was so quick that I didn’t really enjoy all of it. I’ve been to other spas and the way she slowly ended the massage was really nice. She took off the eye pad weight, then put my flip flops on, then took my eye cover off, and finally moved the table into a chair. Very nice!
She walked me over to the kitchen area where there was tea, water, apples, and oranges to eat. The kitchen area is just next to the jacuzzi area. I sat there then my facial tech came to find me. I got an organic facial and she advised for a few extractions which I added for $ 25 more. The services were good.
I met up with my friend at the jacuzzis and tried the cold and hot ones which were nice then we went to the pool. The view is beautiful! We had a little bed facing the ocean. Only thing also was the wait or messed up my order for food and was rude about it. We ordered two drinks and two little lunches and that was $ 80 over priced for sure.
All in all the spa is beautiful.

I never felt so uncomfortable getting a pedicure and manicure. The nail technician was very pushy and extremely impatient. Especially when she tried to offer me a color for my toes I didn’t like at all. Not to mention, she was physically rough and the experience was not relaxing at all. I don’t recommend coming here. They will also be closing the spa for a month of renovations soon. Although she did do a good job on my gel manicure but overall not a very pleasant experience.

Today I went to have a massage as the offer of $ 69,00 for an our. The girl told us to go with the offer. Well she told us that they don’t give an hour of massage and they can not honor the offer. Evendo she told us by phone that if we go with the offer she will give us. She was the manager with this only attitude that nothing is posible. We were 3 people. Very nasty person. And this is the manager what do you expect about other thing, Which means that they place these offers to catch the people.

I have friends who live in the residential area of the Vicroy and the other towers on the same property and I’ve been to the spa pool area and workout facility and sunna area. However, January 1 2015 was my first time utilizing the treatments, I got the spa Mani Pedi and it was awesome!!! This was the best mani pedi ive gotten in my life. the younf lady spent so much time on my feet. I truley enjoyed it and she did wonders to my hands. This will definilty not be my last time utlizing the paid treatments at the Viceroy Hotel.

I love this spa. I went there for a massage thanks to a present from my husband and I have to say that this is one of the best relaxing times I have ever experienced in my life. The views and the fact that you can enjoy them while you are in the pools are awesome, and the kindness of the service make you feel special and unique. A very very pleasant experience for everyone! If you stay at the Viceroy hotel, you also get to use the Spa & Gym. The spa isn’t actually in the Viceroy building — you have to go to the 15^th floor, walk across the pool (which is one the longest pools in the US), enter another building, and go down to the 14^th floor. A bit of a faff to get there, but definitely worth it!
The moment you enter you feel relaxed. An amazing scent is ever present. I asked the front desk what kind of air fresheners they use and they said there is an aroma company that comes in an puts scents in the air ducts. I’d love to have this smell at my house!
As you enter the facility, there are a couple rooms. Firstly is a full on movie theatre. Plush chairs/sofas, nice sound system and a huge screen; the room can be rented by the hour for guests/residents. There are a couple gym classrooms. One of them is for Yoga, and other group workouts and the other is for private personal training. Finally to the right there is a spin class.
I had the opportunity to take three classes whilst I was there — Spin, AbBlast, and Yoga. All three of the classes were above average classes I’ve taken in previous gyms. The spin class was good, however, the room itself was dark without windows so felt like a cave. Instructor was very energetic and got a good workout. The AbBlast class was good — great views overlooking the Miami River too. The best class I took was the Yoga class. It was actually an substitute instructor for the day but she really knew the technical side of Yoga. She explained all the poses and even om/sung whilst meditating. Definitely the best yoga class I’ve taken!
The gym is a high end machine gym — lots of treadmills, stair steppers, etc there’s someone at the front to give you towels and there is a cold water machine in the front as well. There is a small amount of free weight dumbells — It would be good to have more free weights however. The gym is never packed and has sweeping views of the Miami River — great place to workout!
I didn’t get any spa treatments but I did use the sauna and dry room. They’re what to expect — but best part is they’re not crowded at all and the sauna had a great eucalyptus scent. The locker room is nicely decorated with lots of toiletries such as shaving cream, soaps, mouthwash, etc.
I’d love to come back to Miami and stay at Viceroy just to use the spa and gym again! Definitely worth going!

Ahhhhh-amazing!!! One of my better and most relax in spa experience. The ambiance and hospitality from front desk to my massage room was on point. Everyone’s voices were so soothing and soft — so soft that this hearing aid wearing chicks missed a few words but it didn’t bother me because I knew they were trying to create an experience.
LOVED: Even though I didn’t have the time ti use all the amenities provided I loved the option of hot and cold pools, steam rooms and all in grand lush airy spaces that make you want to float. The décor is minimalist with pops of color. The views of the bay add a nice touch
Now I didn’t give it 5 stars because even though the room was airy and bright I thought more could have been done ambiance wise beyond the white curtains the masseuse table. Maybe some candles… blue accents just more attention to details in the massage room like that of the spa lobby itself. In addition — I’ve always wondered why massage rooms don’t give your eyes something to feast on when you’re face down on the bed. Ok — maybe my eyes are supposed to be closed and most probably close their eyes because they don’t want regular tiles as part of their spa experience but think about it– azure mosaic tiles or some other interesting floor design could provide for a well thought of spa experience. Don’t you think?
Anyhoo…overall my recommendation — soak this experience up as often as you can. The flaws are ones that can be overlooked to enjoy everything else they thought of. It’s great!!!

What a beautiful spa! Love the different pools that they have in the entrance and the views are amazing. I definitely loved my mussier, he really listened to me and gave me one of the best massages. The only compliant is that the viceroy demographic has changed and the locker rooms felt a little tight.

The gym here is great. Top quality equipment that is usually maintained well. The gym is fully staffed so it stays clean and they have towel service. It’s limited to residents and hotel guests so it’s never particularly packed. The people who work the front desk are very friendly, especially Alan.
The group fitness classes are pretty good and there is a very robust schedule of options.
The spa itself is beautiful and relaxing. It has a sauna, steam room, cold plunge and two hot tubs as well as men’s and women’s locker rooms with shower facilities. Expect free fruit and tea and coffee in the spa.
The only reason I give four stars instead of five is the treatment prices are outrageous. Well above a similar day spa with really not justification for the premium.
If you’re living at Icon or spending a night at viceroy you should definitely check out the Spa.

What a luxurious treat! I was stunned at the beauty of this spa. The view are unbelievable. The whole spa smells like a dream, I literally want to eat the air. The locker room was absolutely great. I was able to shower and everything I could ever need was provided. I opted for an aromatherapy massage which was exactly what I expected. I typically like more firm massages but this was advertised as light-medium and it was still heavenly. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this spa to everyone.

I love this Spa! I had a facial from MERU that basically sent me to another planet. I was walking on clouds for several hours. My skin still feels amazing 5 days later, and 2 flights.

Beautiful! The entire facility is gorgeous with tons of character. The water room, spacious with several relaxing options while you wait for your treatment and a fully stocked restrooms to clean up after a full day.
We arrived early to take advantage of the amenities. Receiving a treatment grants your access to all of the spa and pool facilities. Lots of lounges and beautiful view, it’s like an infinity pool deck that spills over into the Biscayne Bay/Brickell Key.
Their staff have conquered aggressive hospitality. One could easily get lost in this place but there was always someone to help you whether your looking for towels, a cup of tea, or your lost boyfriend.
My only complaint was our actual massage treatment could have been better, they were a bit of a tease. Being a massage therapist myself (which I will be telling my service provider prior to treatment in the future) I’ve come across many therapist who because it’s a Swedish Massage or in this case Swedish AND Spa month, therapists expect less commission and less tip and fall into mindset of «They’re only here for the promotion otherwise they wouldn’t be here».
Don’t get me wrong, my therapist was very welcoming, great energy and great touch and relaxing flow, but when requesting full body that means hands, feet, neck and a truly effective service. Time yourself. My boyfriend experienced the same. Again, as a therapist, I know it doesn’t mean you have to go full force bows deep into a person’s back to provide the kind of service expected. I would say the service was just going through motions giving the EXACT SAME massage that had been given to all of the other Spa Month and out of state guests who they believe they won’t see again :(
Overall, wonderful experience. Would absolutely return for a lovely day at the spa, just next time reveal my secret which I’m sure would have made a difference, us therapists have to look out for eachother!

I have to admit that I am a fan of being pampered, but what girl isn’t? I love to get manicures and pedicures, massages, facials, and all of the above. I decided to treat my overworked and overstressed self to a day of relaxation at the Spa at the Viceroy.
I had been told that with the purchase of my massage I would have access to all the spa amenities for the day, so I arrived a bit early to see what the Viceroy had to offer. After checking in and getting a tour of the spa, I made my way to the pool where I was able to relax for about an hour before my massage. The pool overlooks Biscayne Bay and the view is gorgeous! I would love to go back just to use the pool and have that view again.
Once it was time for my massage I made my way back to the spa where I was met by my masseuse, Cindy. Cindy was really great and took very good care of me. The massage was a Swedish massage with a scalp treatment and it was heavenly. Before I knew it the massage was over, but I didn’t want it to end! The massage was great and Cindy did an excellent job. She knew what to do and even gave me pointers of things I can do at home to help with tense back (hence the aforementioned overworked and overstressed statement).
I refused to admit that it was time to go home, so I decided to stick around and use the steam room that is available. The steam room was great and since it was late in the day I had it all to myself.
I had a really great time at the Spa at Viceroy. My only regret is that the floating library and water lounge was under construction and I was unable to use it. I was given a voucher to come back and use the facilities anytime I would like because of this.
