If you truly enjoy wines this is a nice, chill, hang-out place! Prices are ok and the ambiance is excellent!– modern, sociable, classy. Great for client meetings and co-worker meetings.

where do i end up after an already established buzz to pay too much for wine samples!?! yes Cavas! don’t get me wrong, its a cool little fancy place that has great cheese platters and such, but in all honesty your paying too much for small sample. Its advantage is that there isn’t another place like it in the area, and if there is i haven’t been able to find it. I do wish they had people in their staff that are willing to help a little more, but your at a wine tasting room with a bunch of snooty south miamians(i probably wouldn’t wanna help us either) either way anywhere there is a nice glass of wine(or sample) it is sure to be followed by a nice time.

Very cool concept. People are right to moan that prices are high, but really, this is a bar/restaurant not a wine shop(more on that later). It is really entertaining to taste dozens of wines, talk about them with friends and when you find one you like, have a glass or half glass if you prefer. We did not eat so cannot comment on food but the menu looked great for a wine bar with cured meats and aged cheeses, i will be back for a try. The simple enjoyment of tasting and playing with different wines was fantastic. If you find something you’d like a bottle of to take home, they even offer a 30% discount. Even with that you may be paying more than true retail for the bottle but knowing that you like it is a bonus!

This place has a prety cool concept — self-serve wine. Something new and different in South Miami. The crowd is a little more upscale and classy yet laid-back at the same time. The staff was very friendly and eagerly gave an explanation of how it works. You get a card hooked up to your tab and you either choose a taste, a half, or a full glass. The prices are reasonable too. They have a wall of red wines, and a wall of white wines, and a section for dessert wines. I had trouble finding champagne but I am pretty sure they serve it somewhere. They also have tapas that I’ll try next time. The couches outside are comfy, great place to hang out on a date or catch up with friends.

On a whim and pressed for gift ideas, I got my friend a gift card here for her birthday. I figured it would be something fun that we would be able to do together while trying some different wines. Without much research beforehand, we headed to Cavas and were pleasantly surprised to find we got there right in time for Happy Hour! With 50 percent off your purchases from 5 – 7 it’s definitely a great deal. With just an hour to spare, we filled up on half-glasses of malbec, tempranillo, pinot and whatever else suited our fancy. For three, we spent $ 25 and had a good buzz going for our dinner later that night. Next time I would definitely leave myself more time to sit down and sip wine while noshing on one of their meat and cheese plates. It’s definitely a relaxing atmosphere that’s perfect for hanging out with friends and relaxing after a long day.

After my first visit to Cavas i have mixed views about the place. The wine list is not A+ but there are some good choices from whites, reds and sweets(no Cava tasting though). The concept behind it is great. You get a card that will grant you the ability to sample any wines in 1oz, 2,5oz and 5oz formats and if any particular one hits the spot you can go for the full bottle. After tasting about 15 wines only 1 was damaged and 2 had some funky chemical smell probably generated by the Gas that is injected into the bottles for preservation. Other than that the ability to taste various wines is right down my alley. In regards to the food we had several Spanish tapas, nothing out of this world but good enough to balance the alcohol intake. There is a good selections of cheeses accompanied by crackers and baguette that will suit the broad selection of wines. The service was good, not great. The waiters are friendly and will provide assistance but they lack a attention to detail that would really enhance the overall experience. When we arrived the music was good but then after 9pm horrendous commercial house music at high volumes filled the place… No taste at all… I know its Miami and its Friday night but ambiance guidelines should be something they should pay more attention to. I can’t imagine the owners envisioned this on the Cava’s Business Plan. After all this is a Wine bar not a Vodka and cranberry bar… I will go back on a different day to see how it goes.

Go for HH! ActuallyThursday Ladies night 9 – 11 pm, 50%. It is easy to carried away with their impressive wine selections arranged by region and type. Great selection from Napa Valley, Spain, Italy and South Africa to mention a few Each bottle has three buttons above it 1– taste 2-half glass 3-full glass. The price per button is digitally displayed. A taste can be $ 4, half-glass $ 6, full glass $ 8 – 10. Prices vary by Wine. Insert your card which tracks your tab and advises of you of how much you have spent. We ate the Tabla Espanola, manchego cheese, jamon serrano and embuchado $ 15, Olive and peppers, $ 6. Greek flatbread $ 9(ok). Go for appetizers and a fun way to try multiple wines and find your favorites. Easy $ 100 pp so again Happy Hour helps shave 50% off tab. No deal on food. Plan to have«dinner» elsewhere but happy to recommend for appetizers.

I went here for a birthday with 6 friends and we all enjoyed it very much. Great wine selection, very nice environment, staff was extremely pleasant. I would even enjoy going here for a date. Prices were not anything too crazy, I found it to be moderate. Would def. return!

This place is great for wine lovers and wine newbies alike. Went with a group and we had an amazing time sampling and snacking. They give you a «charge card» when you go in which you use to get your samples from the bottles that line the walls. It can get very pricey though if you aren’t careful. A brief description sits in front of each wine and they are grouped by whites, reds, and dessert wines. The café menu also has a great selection of meats and cheeses to pair with the different wines and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and they even have a little shelf with a variety of board games to play at your table. Great place for either a date or a fun group outing.

After dining at Town, my group and I decided to stop by Cavas for some vino. On this particular night, they were running a special, 50% off on your selection. That is, once you arrive they provide you with a charge card and you can go around the place choosing the wine that best suits you. You can either ask for a taste, a half glass, or a full glass(the price for each depends on what you choose). Or if you prefer, they sell the bottles as well. We walked around with the charge card and selected some half glasses of wine(among these was the infamous Yason). If you’re a special wine connoseiur, they even have a special section of über-expensive wines for you to try. We sat outside since the inside seating is apparently reserved for those eating and had a great time. At check-out time I ended up paying about $ 18 for like 4 or 5 half glasses of wine. Great price! Will definitely be visitng again very soon…

I have been saying for awhile how much I wanted to check this place out and am glad I finally did! Cavas is a pretty small place with walls lined with wine spouts. After opening a tab, you are given a hotel key of sorts that you insert to receive either a taste, a half glass or full glass of your choice of wine. They offer a wide variety and have bottles to buy as well. The prices ranged from $ 1.30 for a sip to over $ 10 for a glass. They have tables to dine at as well(I think they have some appetizers, maybe even a menu — no one was eating when we were there). Gentlemen: This would be an ideal place for a date! The only con I could foresee is racking up a pretty big bill without realizing! Those sip/teasers can add up quickly!

This review is based on a quick stop inside to feel the place out and determine if I’d like to continue hanging out there(I didn’t). We received our Wine card and started trying several samples. The wine itself was pretty good but I’m a firm believer that wine is best in quantity. I couldn’t get out of my sample-trying habit enough to just enjoy the wine at hand(literally). I do see this place being good for a date-night, or a stop during an evening crawl of the South Miami area.

Here is the only reason why it’s not 5 stars — if you should need their wait staff, you’d probably lose your patience. Makes you wonder if the staff is drinking it up too. I don’t know, they just all seemed«lost» and«confused’. I ordered a cheddar cheese melt(sandwich) and the sucker took 30 minutes to come out. That’s not including the 30 minutes it also took to get my server to finally come and take our order. It’s wise not to go on an empty stomach because you’ll be at the mercy of the wait staff for food. That’s if you get a little lightheaded from drinking all that good wine :-) However, this place is A-MAZING! This is how it works : 1. Hostess takes your name and you open up a tab(leave a credit card) 2. Hostess hands you a card(kinda like a game card you get at Dave and Busters) in exchange for your credit card. 3. Bring card to any of the wine stations(pinot grigio, merlots, cabernets, rieslings. etc) and choose either«sample», «half glass», or «full glass» Each time you purchase a wine, the wine station will tell you what your tab is up to. The ambience: Alot of couples and women. There are tables both indoors and outdoors.

Cavas’ amazing happy hour price! From 5 to 7 pm Cavas has an optimal happy hour. Half off whatever you spend! I really enjoy the fact that you can taste expensive bottles of wine that one would normally never order. I like to start my flight with white wines then move on to the reds, just like Napa. They have an amazing array of wine selections which allows for everyone to find their«favorite» wine. One of my favorite reds, The Prisoner. Be sure to check out their high-end wine selections in a seperate circle booth. Cavas makes for a great girls night out and for an even better happy hour start to your night!

Cavas is a modern take on a wine bar. It takes the waiter/waitress out of the equation by allowing you to select your choice of an ounce, half glass, or full glass by simply inserting a plastic card into a slot and pressing a button. Now, don’t make the same novice mistake I did and be sure to have your glass near the spout upon pressing the button. If not, you’ll get wine everywhere, including you clothes. I came here with my cousin and enjoyed my experience. The wine selection is decent; anywhere from your whites, full bodied reds, to your dessert wines. However, a brief description of the wine on the label would be helpful. At times, I got the feeling that I was selecting some wines rather blindly. Yes, Cavas lends itself to your wine self exploration but a simple, «Silky, fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body with spiced apple, praline, and mineral accents» would have been helpful. A blurb such as that would have given me a better idea of what I was about to drink than simply going by the country, year and grape. We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty empty, which was good because who wants to wait in line to get a taste of wine? From what my cousin tells me it can get really busy, especially the nights they have live music. Thus, although I like this place, I can see how it can leave a bad taste in your mouth in more ways than one. Cavas is definitely an interesting concept for a wine bar and I would recommend it to anyone to try at least once.

We had the same experience that Valentina A. had regarding food service. We had to wait forever despite the fact that the place was mostly empty. I had to go to the counter to order food. The fact that you need to pay for the card to buy the wine is also annoying. They are all ready charging way too much for the wine, you would expect the convenience of not actually not having to pay bartenders would offset the cost of the cards. The selection of wines is fair but not great. Not many wines that I have not tried before.

I’m a yuppie. I’ll admit it. So i like to drink wine, and shop at Banana Republic. Cavas was made for a young suburbanite like me. All different wines, one glass and I get to swipe a card! I love the set up of this store. I like to sit outside and have wine with friends, order cheese plates and talk about important things; like what is going to happen on the next Dexter. Seriously, they have a good selection of wine here, not only to try but to buy. And you can try before you buy! Awesome. This is a great place to meet up with friends and only end up spending as much money as you want to. Yuppies Unite. Winos forever.

I’m a Wino. I’m the kind of person that has no shame about walking around with the purple lips/gums…yeah it gets to that point sometimes but what do you expect from a Spaniard? Because of this I’m kinda biased toward wine bars(by the by, this is no innovative concept, it has been around for a while, it just took Miami a long time to jump on the bandwagon). I absolutely love them and usually end up spending way more than my nightly budget allows, in my heart it’ll always be worth it. When Cava opened up I was super antsy to go. Finally, my gentleman-friend at the time decided to treat me to an evening there(I think we got there around 5 and we left around 9 for dinner at Town… hhmm thinking about it, I should’ve stuck with him.) We probably did the entire round starting from the Argentinian wines which are right next to the front desk and continued all the way to the round table where the pricier wines were. Had I’d been Unilocaling back then I would be more specific about the wines, next time I go I’ll make a list of my favorites. A lot of good selections, but I must agree with some of the fellow reviewers on the following: — They don’t actually have Spanish Cavas… are you trying to lure me into your locale with lies? — Their selection of whites is pathetic to say the least(I’m a tad elitist about my reds so I secretly liked this part… but its obviously a fault) — I’m as big a fan as any of Malbecs, but honestly considering the space is limited, don’t have 8 bottles of it and only one representing each European country(I agree with Christie… where was the Rioja selection!!!) — THECHEESESARESPECTACULAR! And the girl made good recommendations of what wines to have with them. This gets brownie points in my book. All and all I had a really good time and its definitely the PERFECT date place. Needless to say I was more than happy with said gentleman after my 6th glass of wine, so ladies take advantage of this. I would give it 4 because I love wine so much, but I’ll go with a 3 because they still need to fix some kinks here and there to make it worthy.

I’m giving Cavas 4 stars for the innovative concept of letting me sample a great variety of wines without feeling intimidated. Cavas has a very welcoming atmosphere. The hostess and staff explained the procedures for sampling and showed us all of the varieties. Get this… they even made me feel ok when I didn’t place my glass under the dispenser in time and half of my serving drizzled on the floor. :-) awwww… Such a sweet waiter. I love how you can keep up with your tab as you sample all the different wines. The group I was with ordered a cheese plate, chocolate cake, the onion flat bread, and the seafood flatbread. The food was good but the red Dixie plates that we were given to eat on?! What? I didn’t get that. I want to see Dixie plates on a picnic… not at a wine bar. It was just weird. But to be appreciative, I tried a Pinot Noir and really enjoyed it. This little place let’s you step out of your own wine box and try something new.

I love Cavas. The location is fantastic. If you don’t want to stay there all night, there are several other places to get your drink on just a 2 minute walk away. When you walk in to Cavas, you hand over your credit card and they hand you a Card of Happiness. When you decide which wine you would like, you insert your card and choose either a 1 ounce«taste», a 4 ounce«half glass»(which is a true single serving of wine), or a «full glass»(that’s how you get drunk fast). It’s fun if you like to sample lots of different wines, but after a round of tasting, I usually find myself going back to the same wine… over and over again. It’s a fun place to hang out with friends. They have food, too, but I’ve never tried it. My friends have and they say it’s pretty good.
