Phoebe and Friends has been serving the South Beach dog community for over 14 years and with that experience under our (ut um) collar, we know exactly how to show your fuzzy-​faced friend a dog-​gone good time! We offer 24-​hour care in a totally cage-​free environment… a relaxed, home-​like intimate setting where the dogs curl up on a comfortable bed with animal-​loving humans to keep them company. Never to be confined again! Never to worry again! During the day the dogs get plenty of exercise while playing with their buddies and going out on long group walks followed by naptime with a daily brushing… and then more fun playtime! Give your dog a higher quality of life. Give your dog a social life… after all, they are social creatures just like us! Leave your four-​legged friend with us. Your dog will love it… and will love you even more for it!

History

Established in 2000.

Phoebe and Friends was started to give a place to dogs where they can be themselves… where dogs can be dogs! We created the Doggie Day Care concept to provide dogs with a fun, safe and loving environment while owners are busy with work, school, or anytime you can’t be there. We all feel guilty when we aren’t able to give our dogs the attention they so need… and deserve. But you no longer have to leave your dog at home feeling lonely, bored or anxious… most often leading to destructive behavior problems in the house. Doggie day care gives dogs an outlet for excess energy and eliminates this problem. Dog day care can also build confidence in a young or shy dog… just to mention a few benefits of dog day care. Just drop off your dog on your way to work and pick up on your way home… bring him in when you have errands to run… leave her with us when you have company… we’ll show them what doggie day care is all about! I have been taking my dog here for 14 years and am very troubled by the few lousy reviews. Very few places interview the pets they take in before they agree to take your money. Phoebe & Friends does. Very few places make sure to keep updated medical information on your pet and check to see if their shots are up to date. Phoebe & Friends does.
During the 14 years I have taken my dog here other places have opened and I always like to check out the competition. My first question always is: «Who is here with the animals in the middle of the night?» I am always met with a blank stare or «We don’t live that far away if there is a problem.» I guess that means if the fire alarm goes off they hope to get to save my dog before he is toast or if an animal is convulsing another dog will call for help.
At Phoebe & Friends your dog is watched 24⁄7. The overnight care is darling; they go upstairs to bed in the loft where they sleep with whoever is on duty on couches or in the bed. Where else could you get that? I would no sooner leave my dog alone at night than I would my kids.
I checked out beautiful farms in Broward that board dogs. They won’t go to the trouble of feeding each dog what they are accustomed to. Phoebe & Friends feeds your dog whatever you bring per your instructions. Through the years when on medication they have taken care of that as well.
I am not a personal friend. I am a dog owner who took my dog there when he was 10 months-​old for daycare occasionally so if I ever needed to board my dog he would have familiarity. Well, over the next many years there was illness in my family with extended hospitalizations and Phoebe & Friends took care of my boy just great. Family vacations are taken with peace of mind knowing he is well-​cared for. I have had family offer to watch him instead. No way. These are good people and the bad reviews sound like they may not have been happy anywhere.

So many people are picking on Phoebe and Friends that I feel the need to elaborate a little. Note the common thread in all of the reviews, good and bad: we all agree that this is a good place only for well-​socialized dogs who can hold their own in the company of a lot of other dogs of mixed sizes and temperaments.
Our dog, while small, happens to be such a dog. She LOVED it here, she NEVER got seriously hurt, and we felt totally comfortable taking here. Your dog might not be such a dog. If she is not, you should take her elsewhere. But if your dog is super-​sociable and good at handling other dogs, you should take her here.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! I would give it zero stars if possible. We left our dog there for 4 days and she came back stressed, spooked, and WITH A HUGE BITE ON HER NECK!!! She had to be taken to the vet the next morning and put on antibiotics. Of course, when I called the place to inquiry about this, nobody knew how it could have possibly happen; I’ll tell you how: DOGS ARE NOT SUPERVISED AT ALL!!! This was NOT a bite caused during dog play, she has had those before as she goes to the puppy park almost every day and loves to play. This was an actual bite from an aggressive and probably stressed out dog in that facility.
When we got there to pick her up, she looked desperate and scared, dogs were barking nonstop in a way that broke my heart. The place smelled horribly, it was dark and dingy and just plain horrible. They advertise «cageless» boarding when in reality all they do is put the dogs in a dark, empty back room, no matter what size they are, and that’s it. No supervision, playtime, naps, etc. Nothing at all.
If you love your dog, DO NOT LEAVE HIM/​HER at this place. My dog is my life and to this day i feel horribly guilty for having put her through this.

Totally agree with the guy who wrote before me. I took my lovely dog. She got injured on her right eye, blood vessel popped from… nobody could explain what happened. She got serious injured, i had to take her to the vet where i had to paid $ 200 dlls for checking my dog, plus the INTERVIEW fee I had to pay at this place, so clearly this was the most expensive interview I ever had. The vet said that my dog were hit or somebody pulled her so hard with a leash, she also had 2 ticks, that of course she didn’t have before. My concern about this place is that all dogs are mixed, big, small, noisy, etc. all of them together in a empty, gray space, and they just throw my 11 month old puppy there with I don’t know how many and in what conditions dogs. They are not professionals, they don’t really know or have an idea how important are our dogs for the customers. They had no idea what to tell me. Who gives your dog back with an eye full of blood and 2 ticks after 3 hours of interview!!!

I actually left my dog here on the basis of Mike K’s review; we disagree substantively but his specific details were accurate. To wit:
1) My dog is super-​sociable so I don’t like leaving her in a kennel by herself. The other dog boarding options available at most walk her a few times a day. That’s just not enough social interaction. At Phoebe’s, my dog gets to play with other dogs in a big pack all day, under the supervision of staff. (Contra Mike, I did observe staff in the big room wtih the dogs). The dogs are in one big room and run around. My dog is small, and I have not seen a problem with the big dogs beating up on her. She does, however, get home exhausted and happy. :)
2) Staff walks the dogs every 2 hours to make sure they get to pee outside. Staff also takes the dogs on at least one long walk in the afternoon and another long walk in the evening if you board the dog.
3) Boarding isn’t very expensive ($ 48/​night), particularly when compared to leaving the dog all day ($ 33/​day). Unfortunately, pickup is a bit of pain as they end it at 7 pm. I wish they let you pick up the dog later.
I talked with the owners for quite awhile about this place and observed it during that time. I also spoke with the other dog owners coming in and out before I left my dog there. They all were happy, the owners seemed on the ball, the dogs happy, and everything was going swimmingly. I unreservedly recommend Phoebe and Friends.
