VCA Brickell Animal Hospital

This location is by far the worse veterinarians office I have ever been to in all of Miami. Not only was the service not rendered but the staff in the front are incompetent and very disrespectful. I had an appointment at the Brickell location and came in about an hour and 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment because my small puppy was vomiting non-​stop and had severe congestion and wanted to possibly see if we can get him in to see the doctor a bit earlier even if we had to wait. NO. was what I was immediately told as I came in and asked. She didn’t even try to ask the doctor or verify if it can be allowed. So I told her to hold the appointment so I can see if any nearby locations were open and within 5 minutes they gave away my appointment to another person. VCA should be ashamed to have such disrespectful people working at their office. Terrible experience and will never be returning here again.

We had a terrible experience with this vet. Not one week after an annual checkup, our dog had to go back in for vomiting and an infection. Overall, we felt taken advantage of and will not be returning here.

My poor rating is not with the doctors care or response, in fact, dr Saldana has been our dogs’ doctor and has been good so far.
However, the administrative staff and some of the nurses are extremely disappointing! They fail to give you all the information about cost and appointment circumstances. 1) like a previous review, one time they fail to explain what a secondary appointment was, and I had to wait nearly 2 – 2.5 hrs to see the doctor, if I would have bee informed that I was being treated as a walk in, I would have come back the next day, instead of wasting pretty much my whole Saturday morning!
2) today, Sunday, I call because one of my dogs has a bit of diarrhea, nothing serious, but since I work I like to take care of their medical needs on the weekend. I call for an appointment, said they had none, but they can fit me in in between appointments. When I get there a very rude male nurse (I think his name is Chris) comes and tells me that because of the time, it would be treated as an emergency and right of the bat it will be $ 80 vs the normal $ 50! (Since is not an emergency I could wait until Monday) That is something they should have told me over the phone so I could make my decision on whether or not to come down to the clinic, instead of wasting my time and getting attitude from this guy! No apology or any intention of making t right, just overall rudeness. The girl who had misinformed just stared at me like deer on a headlight.
The clinic should train their staff properly with a n effective customer service process, it makes them look unprofessional, and for what they charge, I would at least expect a polite and well prepared staff!

The staff was very nice, helpful and patient. They made sure to explain everything to us and make sure we understood every little detail. To my surprise my cat was very calm and relax with the doctors and the technician. I would definitely recommend this vet if you’re in the area, they will take care of your pet !

Took our puppy here when we first moved to Miami. It was a great experience. The staff was very welcoming and Dr. Saldana was so sweet to Sophie! She was very helpful in explaining what was going on with our puppy. We will be back! Happy we found a good vet in Miami!

Dr. Wilber and the staff here are absolutely phenomenal. They are knowledgable and compassionate. They truly care about the welfare of every animal. I wouldn’t take my pets or resident rescues anywhere else.

Took my Maltese on rush basis because she was squinting her left eye and Unilocaled when I tried to clean it. We got there right before closing and they fit us in last minute. Turns out her cornea was scratched. I was impressed with how caring Stephanie (vet asst) and with Dr. Zaldana not to mention the receptionist. They examined Sally right away and gave me the appropriate antibiotics. Will go back and will also take my mom’s dog to be evaluated for his arthritis. I recommend this clinic highly.

Have been to this animal hospital several times, every time I go the first thing they talk to me about is money. It’s going to cost so much for this it’s going to cost so much for that. They never even ask me how my pet is doing. I called the receptionist recently to explain to her that my cat was vomiting and she told me to bring him in first thing the next morning. I arrived at the hospital at 8 o’clock in the morning as soon as they open and they told me that they could not see him. The only way that I could leave him because he was two months past due on his vaccines with that they would have to charge me a room charge of $ 67. At that point then he would have to get his vaccines in order to see the doctor I don’t understand, When my animal is sick the first thing they do is talk to me about money it infuriates me and I will never go back there. If my oncologist told me every time I walked through the front door that Before I was even seen I would have to dish all this money out of my pocket instead of getting good care, I would not go back to her either.

This place is ridiculous. Fist off they and very slick and sneaky about adding things on top of your bill. That’s why they give you a «quote» when you drop off your pet, then when you arrive it’s not ever the same.
To top things off I was specifically asked if while my pet was under their care, if something were to happen or any medical conditions were noticed if I would like them to A. Go ahead and treat (and charge you for it without notification) or B. Be contacted immediately. I said B. But when I went to get my pet they charged me for an ear infection «they found» and said they tried calling me, and they didn’t so they decided to treat it anyways. And of corse charge me for it. Then come to find out, there was no ear infection!
And when I got my pet, I noticed markings on him that looked like was from negligence or a dog fight. I refuse to ever return!
Save the money and get better care somewhere else.

Last night I was asked to check in on the elderly dog of a friend who is traveling, The dog is with a new sitter, who said the dog had not been eating. I went to see the dog, and found the state of her health to be alarming. I decided something needed to be done to increase her comfort, at least as much as could be done while we await my friend’s return. The poor thing is paralyzed completely in her rear legs, is predominantly blind, mostly deaf, and has now stopped eating. So, if you’re keeping up, I’ve got a pretty sick dog, I want the dog to be better, and since I’m not a trained veterinarian, I decide the best course of action is to take the dog to see Dr Wilbur, who is a veterinarian. Reasonable, right? And why Dr Wilbur? Well, you see, this dog has been under Dr. Wilbur’s care for more than 6 years, since the clinic opened back in 2009. Surely, I think, Dr Wilbur will know what to do and what advice to give.
What she did was order a urine test, which is described on its location on the $ 278 total bill as «Senior wellness. test». She said she suspects a kidney infection, and added, unhelpfully, «It could be kidney failure.» Oh, and I mustn’t forget to mention the 10 pills, which are to be given to the dog over the course of the next 5 days (what they are for was not explained to me in the 35 seconds between being ushered out of the exam room to the counter, where the bill was presented). Tonight the situation is exactly the same as last night for most everyone in this story — the dog remains in distress as does everyone who cares for her. The only person whose situation has changed is Dr. Wilbur, whose practice has $ 278 more than last night. There are those who describe Dr. Wilbur ‘caring’. Given her behavior today, there are many words I would use to describe her. Caring is most certainly not among them.

Been using them for about 3 years now and I’ve been happy with the services. My diabetic dog needed a lot of attention when diagnosised and then helped me learn a lot of information about treatments and care. Dr. Wilber us highly recommended.

I’m not a parent, so bringing home a new pet last week was the first time I’ve had something so innocent and helpless fully relying on me. I was so relieved to find Brickell Animal Hospital and the friendly staff to calm my new pet mom nerves!
Long story short, I brought my kitten home from Miamj-​Dade Animal Services (another review coming on that soon) on a Saturday evening and found the little guy’s microchip was falling out of his back! I was enraged, upset and mostly worried. The microchip company said unless he appeared to be in pain to wait until the morning, so I ended up here since it is (miraculously) open on Sundays.
The staff saw us within 15 minutes, without an appointment and stitched the little guy back up as good as new. They also informed us the 1.7 lb approximately 7-​week old kitten (according to MDAS) was really .65lb and about 3 weeks old!
Every worker we encountered appeared to truly care about animals– which seems like it would be obvious at a vet’s office but you never know. The doctor even called me the next day to check up on the kitten — and me — and remind me of the important shots he’ll need once he is big enough.
I wasn’t planning on bringing him here regularly since it’s not the closest vet to my home, but they may have changed my mind. Parking can be a pain (it is Brickell after all) but getting proper care for my pet will be worth it!
If you do end up adopting a pet from MDAS, Brickell Animal Hospital will also waive the check up fees if you bring them in within 30 days. That doesn’t include shots or medicines, but it is a nice discount!

Brickell Animal Hospital and Dr. Wilber are the best vet team in Miami. Not only is Dr. Wilber the greatest, but her team who includes Marsha, Peter and everyone else really know what they are doing and actually care.
I live nowhere near Brickell anymore but will never take my dogs to anyone else because they are the best!

I would first like to say, that when we initially came to brickell animal hospital my husband and I were thrilled we found a vet (dr Nancy Wilbur) that cares and explains what is going on with our dog. It also seemed like we found a vet that wasn’t going to take advantage of us by ordering test after test.
I don’t want to make this a lengthy review but the reason we left the office is because both dr’s lost our trust. With one vet saying there is no oral medication to treat My dogs ear infection and one saying there is.
Since I got two different opinions from the vets, I questioned why they had different opinions and did not consult with each other… and the vet just belittled me.
This is their job, and we are simply pet owners who want the best for our dog, so of course we ask questions, but don’t make it seem like a pain in the a$$ to explain why you want to charge me over $ 1000 in the past 3 visits.
They started off great, than once they get you in and gain your trust, it feels like they just keep milking you, knowing that you will pay to get the best for your pet.
I will say though Marisol is a gem in that office and was truly understanding, helpful and caring.

When I moved to Miami a couple of years ago, I was very anxious about finding a new vet. As a pet parent, I want my cats to have the best :) Brickell Animal Hospital is the best vet office I’ve ever experienced. The staff is very friendly, my cats’ vet (Dr. Wilber) is very personable and helpful, the location is very convenient and I love how they have free parking on site.
This office is very helpful with everything, from annual exams to emergencies and even «day care» where you can leave your cat for the day (which is convenient). They always answer the phone and call when they say they will, which I never take for granted.
The best part is, they call you right away (it’s often the Vet herself) with lab results, and when I have left a cat for the day under anesthesia for a procedure (neutering, tooth extraction) they give calls during the day to tell you how your pet is doing, which is such a relief as it is stressful to worry about your pet being at the vet all day without you.
Also, the staff is very up front and honest about costs so that you don’t agree to procedures that will add up to a surprise bill later. When I brought my cat in when her stomach was upset, they explained to me all of the things they could do, and what everything would cost, and what was necessary. I really appreciated that as many vets just surprise you with a huge bill. They are also very fast about processing claims for your pet insurance, and I’ve never had issues getting claims from visits there. More importantly, they never recommend things that aren’t necessary. For example, my cat is at an age where she could have annual teeth cleanings, but at her annual visit, the doctor said her teeth don’t need it this year, which takes a lot of stress off of me as that would have been a separate visit (and bill!).
The doctors and staff are all very sweet and patient with the animals, and you can tell they are all animal lovers. No crazy behavior by a pet or pet parent surprises them, and they are always accommodating.
I would definitely recommend Brickell Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a vet. If I were to move away from the area, one of my main issues would be not being able to go to this vet anymore.

This place is great. I adopted a cat, Sebastian, a few weeks ago and he immediately developed a cough. Brickell Animal Hospital was able to squeeze him in for a same-​day appointment on a Sunday. They did some testing and got the results to me promptly. When his coughing turned into sneezing and red, watery eyes, I got a next-​day appointment and he was treated by the same vet. He is now doing so much better and he has more energy than the day I adopted him.
Another great thing about this place: the doctor returns your phone calls! I can’t even get my human-​doctor to return my phone calls! It’s so easy to communicate with the vet and her staff and to give status updates. They are an organized team, and it shows.
Dr. Wilber was very knowledge and caring. She gave Sebastian a very thoughtful diagnostic and treatment plan. Her staff is friendly and caring and were so forgiving when Sebastian made a little accident in the corner of the examination room. I’m very glad I found this place.

Dr. Wilber and the Brickell animal hospital staff are amazing. They have taken care of our dog and two cats for years and give excellent service and utmost care. Highly recommend them!

I’v been to different vets before but nothing like this team. There’s just something different. They treat your pets like they are your family members. And deep down inside, aren’t them family? They are professional and caring, specially when you have to make that really heartbreaking decision pet owners sometimes have to make. Dr Wilberg and staff at Brickell Animal Hospital were there for Diego until his very last breath. I now also trust Delta to Dr Wilberg and staff. As expected, they treat her like family. If you live in Brickell and have pets, this should be your Animal Hospital.

Need to lower my rating based on a very poor service experience. My cat was sneezing blood, so I called Sunday morning at 9 AM to request an appointment that day. The receptionist told me she was making a «secondary appointment» and I should bring him in right away.
Little did I know that «secondary appointment» means that all «primary appointments» booked a few days prior would be given priority treatment. And they were rolling in every 15 minutes.
Long story short, after waiting almost 2 hours there was still no end in sight. My poor cat was freaking out inside his kennel, wanting out. I ended up taking him to his regular vet on the beach who treated him right away.
I fully agree that prior appointments should be seen before walk ins. Don’t make up a fake name «secondary appointment» for a walk in. Tell me that I will treated as such so I can decide for myself whether I want to deal with the potential wait time.

Apologies in advance for this somber review. This is a very difficult update to write because Delilah, the kitty mentioned in the previous reviews, unfortunately could not overcome her many health issues and was put to sleep in consideration of her poor quality of life. However, that still does not take away the efforts and love I experienced from Dr. Wilber and her staff during my short time with Delilah. Dr. Wilber went beyond her duty as a vet to exhaust all resources to find a way to improve Delilah’s quality of life, even going as far as fostering her for a period of time after her feeding tube procedure, She was with me every step of the way and always presented the options in a clear manner, never making me feel pressured to choose one over the other. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel towards Brickell Animal Hospital. Until the very end when I made the tough decision to let Delilah go, everyone was sensitive about it all and expressed their pain and emotions to me, which helped my grieving process.
Please do not hesitate to bring your pet here. The staff are one of a kind and truly exceptional when it comes to caring for your pets. They are worth it!
As for Delilah, you will forever be missed.
