Veterans Ford

If I could give zero stars I would. This establishment is embarrassing to the name of customer service. I had to have my car in FIVE times over the course of two months because they simply never fixed the problem. My family and I have owned solely Ford Vehicles for decades and this is easily the worst excuse of a Ford dealership the company should ever have to be associated with. Disappointed with every single member of the service department.

I had no doubt that I would have a 5 star experience getting my Lariat serviced at Veterans Ford, but I was sadly mistaken. I have been to many Ford store dealerships to service my truck – Jim Taylor in Ruston, Marler Ford in Dry Prong, And Hixson in Alexandria, and now Veterans Ford in Metairie. At the 3 previous services I had the works package, usually very routine and I’m satisfied with my truck’s performance after. Also I have a pretty good idea how the process works and what is done in these multi point inspections. Roberto was friendly and funny when I came in and another sweet lady made things easy, and I mentioned I expected the best service ever considering their reputation, jokingly of course, and he said that’s exactly what I would get. The shuttle guy was cool and helpful. When I returned Roberto complained about my lugnuts being difficult to take off or something… so I told him Marler Ford took them off last, paid, and left. I was surprised that they set my next oil change for 3000 miles, usually other Fords have set for 6000 or so miles. Also, I just got a receipt showing labor, cost, etc., but no inspection details like I usually receive showing things like tread height, fluid levels, etc. That made me suspicious initially. So far I’m am satisfied, but not really happy about it. Then nearly a week later, I wake up on a cool morning to go to school and my tire pressure alert was on. I thought that was odd but I figured the cold weather just did it. When I rush to fill up my tires and make it to school, the lowest tire had 25 psi, and the other 3 had 30 psi, compared to the recommended 40ish. I instantly knew at that point that they hadn’t even inflated my tires when I had it serviced a week ago! The most basic part of the inspection I would think! Now I am really disappointed, and late for class after airing up all 4 tires to the correct pressure. Unless someone else thinks a cold spell in New Orleans would knock 10 or more lbs of pressure out of my tires in less than a week, then I’m wrong. To me their was enough evidence that the inspection wasn’t done or not done adequately, plain and simple. I called the service dept. and talked to Gary which he said come back by and they would do it. I came back to meet Helena, who isn’t friendly initially, probably due to my accusatory attitude, but was much nicer at the end of the inspection – probably because it was obvious no «multi point inspection» occurred at my first visit. If anything Helena saved the overall
Experience even with the attitude. I doubt I will be using this dealership for any sales/​service. Myself, along with the majority I hope, expect to get what they pay for. Sorry Walton and Johnson maybe the sales team is magnificent.

I’ve had 2 experiences here now, one that was pretty good and one that was just OK.
I purchased my 2014 Certified pre-​owned Escape at a dealership in Alabama. Since it was a CPO, it came with an extended warranty. I’ve heard horror stories from friends about how they’d take it to Sears, 5 minute Oil Change, etc. and then have some major problem, only for the dealer to tell them that the cheapo oil change place screwed something up which voided the warranty.
The first time, a piece of the fender underneath the vehicle had come loose. I brought it here and they told me I’d have to leave the vehicle overnight before I could even get an estimate, and if the problem wasn’t covered under the warranty, there’d be a fee just for the estimate. I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of having to leave my car overnight, so I begrudgingly made the drive out to Lamarque in Kenner who did the work in about 2 hours for a cool $ 12 total. They were much friendlier at Lamarque as well.
The second time, I needed an oil change. Veterans Ford is right down the street from where I work, so I dropped it off in the morning and everything was done in about 2 hours. They even did a pretty good job cleaning the interior of my car, I was quite impressed with the work they did and the report they gave me afterwards. The $ 40 I paid was a bit more than at one of the cheapo places, but they used synthetic oil, plus there’s the added peace of mind knowing that your warranty is secure. This was overall a good experience, but I still feel like people could have been friendlier.
Veterans Ford has an extremely convenient location which nets them a ton of business. I’d go back for an oil change, but would try to make the trip out to Lamarque for anything major.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Had a minor accident and required minor repairs from the body shop. Went in for the estimate and parts were ordered to make the repairs. Once the repairs were made, I recieved a phone call and message every couple days from the body shop asking for me to bring the vehicle in after I told the individual (Allen) at Ford that I would be offshore for 7 days. When I returned the phone call on a Wednesday morning, Allen urgently requested that I bring the vehicle in for repairs so that he could have it completed and back to me by Friday afternoon. Again I spoke to Allen about needing the vehicle for Saturday and Sunday for work purpose so if the quick turnaround was not possible, we could reschedule the repairs. Allen proceeded to state the vehicle would be back in my possession no later than Friday afternoon. Friday mid day I began calling the body shop and asking to speak with Allen, they informed me that the vehicle was ready and was being detailed for completion and that I would receive a call when ready to pick up. I called multiple times that afternoon and expressed the urgency of needing the vehicle returned before Saturday yet again. A call was never recieved. Saturday morning I called and the body shop was closed. I was passed along to Mr. Joe Purvis who proceeded to tell me that he would work on contacting someone who could help me. He told me to expect a call from someone at the dealership who could assist. Again that call never came. I spoke to Mr. Purvis again and informed him that no calls were recieved and that I needed the vehicle for work and he began to formulate a story about how they must have not had my correct number and that he would contact them again with the correct information… My voicemail has multiple messages from Veterans Ford informing me that the parts had been recieved and Allen asking me to bring the vehicle in. Not sure what number they decided to call at this time. After not receiving a call by Saturday afternoon I yet again attempted to call Mr. Purvis and was notified by his secretary that he was unavailable but that she could send me to his voicemail. Long story short, I would drive to a different city before I ever step foot in Veterans Ford again. One of the worst customer experiences encountered with staff that continuously passed blame on one another. Horrible business and awful customer experience.

This place is a joke and so is the body shop Darren is rude as well as Allen. They clam they have a lifetime warranty on their body work but no one can product it on paper. It is a misconception that a ford dealer would have a good body shop and be able to return your car back to factory quality after repairing it with an unlimited amount of dollars. Do yourself a favor a head some where else, it’s not worth the headache of dealing with these people. At first everything may seem fine but one you start asking the right questions you start to get the run-​a-​round. Please don’t fall for it. I purchased my car here and had it repaired her through the body shop and the service department. After looking at the service bay for just a few mins I’ve seen the techs clowning on people’s cars and acting like they don’t give a you know what about what people work hard for. Not saying every shop isn’t like this but it’s a little l hard to take once it is in front your eyes. I like to have a good time at work but not at the expense of scratching up cars that other people work hard for. This isn’t a rant, this is just what I experienced while dealing with veterans ford over the past 3 years. If I could do it all over again I would have picked another dealer to buy from and another shop to repair my car. Plan and simple.

I have only one experience with this business over a two day period. For that reason I am a bit hesitant to give it a Five Star. My first time here was for a vehicle recall on my elderly Town Car. It was a safety issue and there was no cost to me involved.
My Baby was ready in one day but had to put off retrieving her until the second day. On both days and with absolutely every member of the staff I came into contact with I treated me with the utmost professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness. A special thank you to the service advisor James Broussard.

I really wanted a new ford truck and went to Lamark and they were terrible way too pushy. To make matters ever worse they didn’t even have the truck I wanted. I was so upset I almost didn’t even want to look at trucks anymore then I went to Veterans ford and it was a big difference my sales person was very nice and they were able to give me the price I wanted. I will be doing all of my business with then from now and recommend all of my friends…

So the last time I came here I found the service not awful but not great. I had some unexpected fees put on my bill which always pisses me off. communication beforehand is key. This time the service was way above what I expected. I pulled up around 7:45am to get an oil change. I was greeted by a couple people, the woman was so friendly and smiley which is how I like to be greeted when I’m going into any business. They said it would take about 45 minutes and they had fresh coffee inside. I asked if there was a coffee shop nearby bc I wanted an iced coffee and a croissant as I hadn’t eaten yet. They said absolutely and they would shuttle me there and back. I had no idea they offered this service but I was never offered this at my old dealership. I find this to be just awesome. If you’re getting work done and don’t have a ride back home, no worries they’ll just drive you! They also informed me this time of exactly what they would do during the oil change and how much it would cost so it wouldn’t be a shocker when I got up to the cashier. And it was exactly what I thought. And the guy finished my car in a timely manner so I didn’t sit around waiting forever. Great job!!!

These people seem to really want to keep every car on their lot. They don’t negotiate prices, implied that I must have bad credit, so I left. I went a few miles away and bought a better model Mustang for less than these idiots tried to sell me a base model for.
The only reason they get two stars is because they are in a convenient location, and they are good for looking at stuff before you buy it elsewhere.

Take your car elsewhere for service. I unexpectedly had an unusual and large repair to do on my Ford. Because the issue was so unusual, I took it to the dealership in the hopes that they would have some insight into the issue and further, that they would be more knowledgable about the repair than another shop. Wrong. Then, I picked up the car and on my way home I saw that there was an engine light on and my AC wasn’t working. When I called the dealership, they responded that they had not done any work relating to these two items, therefore it had nothing to do with them. I have little confidence in the repair job they did and they left me holding the bag for additional problems that occurred while the car was in their care. I can’t believe this even happened.

Bad service. They actually lied to me. I called at 8am and told Kieth in the service department my Ford check engine light was on and was today a good day to bring it in. Keith said yes. I dropped the car off at 8:30am and Keith said he would call me with an estimate. I knew the check engine light can be diagnosed with a computer that hooks up to a port in the car and displays a list of possible probelms. It only takes 10 minutes to do this. I did not hear from the service department by noon so I called for a status report and Keith said he has not heard from the mechanic. By 3pm I heard nothiong so I called again and Keith said the mechanic had the paperwork but he had not heard anything. Keith said he never promised they could fix the car while I waited, even though they had the car for 6 hours and had not even gotten to it. Keith said they had other cars ahead of me. I mentioned he should have told me that when I called to ask if today was a good day to bring in my car. I told Keith I would just come get the car since they did not have time today to fix it and I could not leave it overnight. When I arrived, the car was not in the repair area but in the back and had not even been moved from when I dropped it off that morning. They lied to me that the mechanic was looking at it. I understand Ford likes to have cars sit and get to it when they are ready, but the job of a service manager is to estimate when a car can be fixed and relay information honestly to customers. Service managers dont work on cars so if they cant do this simple task, what does Ford need them for? I understand being busy but don’t ever lie to customers.

This started out as a typical dealership experience. I had a recall I needed taken care of, and figured I’d get «the works» oil change thing since it was «on sale» (via a $ 20 rebate, surprise PITA). They came to me and told me that I needed $ 1250 worth of repairs (currently being completed elsewhere for $ 500– but that’s a dealership for you). Honestly, I left satisfied enough, had no problems with the place.
So what’s really annoyed me? Yesterday, I get a call. «How was your experience, blah blah blah.» I told them it was fine, that I was satisfied. Today, I get a call. «How was your experience, blah blah blah.» I again say that it was fine, and mention that I’d reported that yesterday. And then, again today, a few hours later, call #3 about the freakin’ oil change I got.
Glad you’re concerned about customer satisfaction Vets Ford, but 3 calls to follow up on an oil change is absolutely insane.
Edited to add– Make that 4 phone calls. And this last one was automated, which is always super nice– and after I’d asked them to stop calling too. Scooting towards that one star rating for annoying the heck out of me.

Nice people working the service desks, thorough mechanics, quick work on your car & a shuttle you can use while they’re working.
It’s not a short drive for us to get up here, but it’s worth it.
